Wrestlers Odunayo Adekuoroye, Blessing Oborodudu and Esther Kolawole increased Nigeria’s medal haul to 16 at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after the duo claimed gold in their respective wrestling event on Friday.Team Nigeria has so far won seven gold, three silvers and six bronze medals.

Three-time world championships medallist, Adekuoroye, won her third straight gold medal at the Commonwealth Games after beating Anshu Malik from India 7-3 in the final of the women’s 57kg freestyle wrestling event.Before now, Adekuoroye won gold in the 53kg freestyle category at the 2014 edition of the games in Glasgow as well as gold in the 57kg freestyle category.Malik, the top seed in her category at Birmingham 2022, started cautiously against Adekuoroye.The experienced Adekuoroye opened the scoring with a two-point throwdown and doubled her lead just before the break to take a 4-0 lead heading into the second period.

The young Indian wrestler, meanwhile, struggled to find a way through the Nigerian’s strong defence and only won her first point of the bout through a passivity penalty on Adekuoroye.

The Nigerian eventually won the bout 7-3 to win her third straight gold at the CWG. The match originally ended 6-4, but a point got swapped due to an unsuccessful challenge by Anshu’s camp after the match ended.Oborududu also edged Linda Morais from Canada in the women’s 68kg category final. The feat sees her become a two times Commonwealth Games Champion.

In the 62kg category, Esther Kolawole, also won bronze after defeating Abbie Fountain from Scotland 10-0. Sakshi Malik from India won gold while Ana Gonzalez settled for silver.In the women’s long jump qualifying round Group B, Ese Brume advanced to the next stage after placing second behind Ghana’s Deborah Acquah.

In the men’s 4x400m relay round 1, Nigeria failed to qualify for the next stage having placed fourth behind Botswana, Jamaica and Zambia.In the women’s 100m hurdles event, Tobi Amusan, qualified for the final billed for the Alexander Arena after she won her heat with a time of 12.40secs.It was Amusan’s first race since her world record feat in Oregon, United States.

Amusan will contest the final with Jamaican duo Danielle Williams, Megan Tapper, England’s Cindy Sembre, Michelle Jenneke of Australia and Devynne Charlton of Bahamas.

The Nigerian star has the chance to defend her Commonwealth Games title which she won in 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia.Amusan opened her 2022 season by winning the 2022 Diamond League event in Paris, were she set an African record by 0.01secs with a time of 12.41secs.

The 25-year-old has been tipped to break the 16-year-old 12.65secs Games record set by Jamaica’s Brigitte Foster-Hylton in Melbourne, Australia after running a new 12.12secs World record to win the world title in Oregon, USA last month.In Table Tennis, the duo Amadi Omeh and Olajide Omotayo beat Guyana’s Shemar Britton and Christopher Franklin 3-1 (11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 11-5).

In the women’s singles round of 16, Offiong Edem crashed 4-1 (13-11, 11-3,11-6,9-11,11-7) to Jian Lay from Australia.

But she teamed up perfectly with Fatimo Bello in the women’s doubles event to beat the duo Priscilla Greaves and Thuraia Thomas from Guyana in three sets (11-3,11-3, 11-5).

World No.15, Aruna Quadri also defeated Gavin Rumgay of Scotland, 4-0 to progress to the quarter-finals of men’s singles event but Abiodun and Omotayo failed to advance after they lost 4-0 in their respective round of 16 games.In the mixed doubles, Bode Abiodun and Fatimo Bello lost to the duo Luu Finn and Liu Yangzi 3-0 (11-7,12-10,11-7) round of 16.

Also the duo of Omotayo Olajide and Ojomu Ajoke lost in three straight sets (11-7,11-6, 11-7) to Gnanasekaran Sathiyan and Batra Manika in the mixed doubles event.In the men’s singles classes, Nasiru Sule reached the final of the event after he edged Raj Alagar from India 3-1 (7-11,11-8,11-4,11-7).

Ifechukwude Ikpeoyi also advanced to the final after defeating India’s Sonalben Patel 3-1 in the Para Table Tennis event.In the men’s shot put final, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi failed to make podium finish after finishing fourth after a throw of 20.36m.

New Zealand’s Tom Walsh claimed gold at Alexander Stadium while Aucklander Jacko Gill, who uncorked a personal-best 21.90 to snare silver, completed a Kiwi one-two.

Geoffrey Oki, the winner of MTN Project Fame (Season seven), has lamented that talent show winners usually struggle to find expression in the industry after winning reality shows.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, the singer said, “I feel this is something reality show organisers should look at. If you notice, most of the winners of reality shows struggle when it comes to finding expression in the industry.

“Probably because of the one or two years’ contract they have after the show, they don’t get to have prospective investors that will work with them.

”Geoffrey also urged organisers of such shows to ‘soften’ the contracts given to winners, so that other people can work with them. He added, “I feel they should look at how they can soften the contracts a little bit, so that other people can have access to them.

“For someone like me, I went through a lot after winning the show. It has been crazy. There were days I had no money to eat, and I couldn’t pay to transport myself around. I have even been suicidal. God has been the one helping me.”

The singer, however, stated that though there were challenges, participating in Project Fame has been a blessing not a curse to his career. He said,

“It has been more of a blessing for me because if I did not participate in that show, I won’t be where I am today. I feel it was a fast track for me to come into the industry.

“I won’t use the word ‘curse’ but it has been challenging. It could be tough when a lot is placed on one’s shoulder, because to whom much is given, much is expected.

Many people were expecting me to do certain things, but at the end of the day, I feel like I did not meet up to expectations. Financially, I did not have sponsors to invest in my career. I had to do everything myself, coupled with the fact that I had family members to take care of.

”The singer also noted that he is currently working with a new management team in a bid to put his career back on track.

“I feel nobody will beat me for saying the truth. Why should I hide? I don’t have to hide because I am not living my life for people.”On why she got the butt lift, Bakare said, “It is not that I was not comfortable with my body. I just got tired of waist training.

I am a perfectionist when it comes to dressing up and I got tired. When people hug me, there is always that hardness there for me (caused by feeling the waist trainer). I got irritated at some point, so I felt if I could get the procedure with my money.”

On how she feels after undergoing the procedure, she said,

“When there is something disturbing one, and that thing goes away, one feels relieved. That is exactly how I feel.”The actress also maintained that she has no words for people who condemn butt implants. She said,

“I don’t have anything to say to them. For those who want to do it, I will just advise them to go to the right hospital where it will be done well without complications. If one has the money and one feels one’s stomach is too big, or one is not comfortable with one’s body, one can go for it. It is not a big deal. Like doctors often say, every surgery has a 50/50 chance, no matter how small it is. I don’t know why people condemn it so much to the point of making those who do it feel like they are committing a sin.

”Speaking on how she feels at this point in her career, Bakare said,

“I am not there yet but I am thankful to God for how far He has brought me. I pray for more strength, grace, and all the good things of life.”

Police invite Kizz Daniel for questioning after he allegedly confiscated a dry cleaner’s bus for damaging his clothes worth N14 million

The police in Lagos state have invited singer Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe aka Kizz Daniel for questioning.

According to a source who confirmed this to LIB, the ”Buga” crooner was invited for questioning for allegedly confiscating the laundry bus of a company he contracted to do laundry for him.

The singer reportedly seized the bus on grounds that the N14 million worth of clothes he gave them to clean were damaged. The owners of the laundry bus reported the matter to men of the Ilasan police division who immediately invited him for questioning.

The singer’s lawyer contacted the police today August 5 and said that he will be available for questioning on Tuesday, August 9.

The laundry bus has been recovered.

Crystal Renay has filed for divorce from her husband, Ne-Yo days after she publicly accused him of cheating in a lengthy Instagram post.

In divorce documents obtained by Page Six on Thursday August 4, the model, 36, claimed that Ne-Yo, 42, “recently fathered a minor” with his “paramour.” In the documents filed on Monday August 1, Renay listed their date of separation as July 22.

She further stated that their marriage is “irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation.” Renay and Ne-Yo initially tied the knot in February 2016. The on-again, off-again couple divorced two years later before marrying again in April 2022.

A businesswoman identified as Asiata Oladejo, has told a Mapo Grade A Customary Court, in Ibadan, Oyo state to dissolve her marriage on grounds that her estranged husband, Abidemi, was unreliable and abandoned her and their children during a robbery attack. Oladejo made the submission in her counter argument in the divorce suit filed by her husband. 





”My Lord, I am yet to recover from the shock I experienced when a gang of thieves raided our house. He hid in the toilet, leaving me to pant in front of the armed robbers, who terrorised the entire residents of the house.





My lord, when the thieves arrived at around 1am. on that night, my husband was nowhere to be found to defend the children and I.Unknown to me, he hid in the toilet. He only came out when they had gone. My husband wanted us to continue living in that house,” she said.





Akintayo granted custody of the three children to Oladejo, adding that she was in the best position to cater for them. “Both petitioner and respondent shall be responsible for the education and other welfare of the children. In addition, Abidemi shall pay a monthly feeding allowance of N20,000 for the children’s upkeep. Both of you must maintain peace and order,” Akintayo held. She, however, noted that there was no marriage to dissolve between the couple, because their union could not be considered as a marriage. She stated that their marriage was not in accordance with laid down customary laws of Nigeria.





Abidemi in his defense said that his wife was ill-tempered.  





”She comes to my shop unannounced to torment me. It is true that I hid in the toilet when armed robbers attacked our house. All the attempts made to bring her back home failed, because she said she was unnecessarily scared,” he said He prayed the court to grant him custody of the three children because he had been a responsible father. Delivering judgment, the President of the Court, Mrs S. M. A Florida woman was arrested for allegedly committing s*xual acts with her dog while her ex-boyfriend recorded on video, police said. 





According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department, Christina Calello, 36, “willingly engaged in s*xual activity with the dog on multiple occasions” over the course of roughly eight years. 





Her ex-lover, 39-year-old Geoffrey Springer, who was also arrested, allegedly recorded the encounters and put them on a hard drive. 





The dog, which had no visible injuries, was taken to an animal hospital by deputies for a routine examination.

Former Knicks guard, Iman Shumpert was arrested over the weekend after officers allegedly found a “sizable” amount of marijuana in his backpack at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. TMZ reported that Shumpert was stopped at a TSA checkpoint around 2:40 p.m. on Saturday by authorities responding to a possible drug violation call. 





Further examination revealed that Shumpert had 6.12 ounces of a “green leafy substance” in his bag, which he admitted to be marijuana. The substance was additionally confirmed through later tests. The Brooklyn Nets player also admitted to possessing marijuana before being placed under arrest and transported to the airport jail, per the publication.





Shumpert, who is married to Teyana Taylor and shares kids Iman, 6, and Rue Rose, 1, with her, was flying to Los Angeles via Delta Airlines at 3:00 p.m. During a conversation with officers, Iman also said that he was concerned about missing the flight. He was then informed he would not be making his flight. Cops also made the claim that the Dancing With The Stars alum had 14 nine mm rounds in his bag along with a Glock magazine, but no actual gun.





As marijuana possession is a “State Jail Felony,” the Berwyn, Illinois native is facing up to two years in jail and a hefty $10,000 fine should he be convicted. Iman made his NBA debut in 2011 at the age of 21 when he played for the New York Knicks, where he stayed for four seasons. He then moved over to the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2015 – 2018 before short spurts with the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets. Shumpert most recently joined the Brooklyn nets in 2019, and again for a short 10-day contract in 2021. He has since retired from professional basketball. In his personal life, he went public with Teyana in 2014, and the two welcomed their first child just a year later. Actors Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel Agbogidi released by kidnappers  Actors Guild of Nigeria have announced that kidnapped actors, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Agbogidi have been released by their abductors.





 According to a statement released by the Actors Guild of Nigeria on its official Instagram page on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, the movie stars were released unhurt and in healthy conditions.





 It read;”





This is to gladly inform the public that the kidnapped actors Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel Agbogidi have been released unhurt. The elated National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie Emeka Rollas announced their release by the abductors who were touched by the spirit of God to set them free and unharmed. 





The Guild has arranged for medical checks and psychological support for the victims. On behalf of their families, the National President expressed our heartfelt appreciation to Nollywood industry and Nigerians at large for the support and prayers during the trying period.”





“He urged members to be security conscious on and off film sets and always take precautionary measures on their personal security at all times. Okereke and Agbogidi were kidnapped on Friday, July 29, while they were returning from a movie set at Ozalla town in Enugu state. 





On Saturday, their abductors contacted their families, demanding $100,000 as ransom. However AGN President, Emeka Rollas said the guild was only able to raise N1.2 million. 





 In a video clip on social media, he said “While talking to the abductors, we were trying to explain to them that we were putting some funds together, we were contributing. We said that we have about N1.2 million. And they started laughing at us.





They started mocking us and saying, ‘all those your celebrities posting on Instagram, why haven’t they contributed?’
