Beyoncé’s long-awaited and highly-anticipated album was released today July 29, and it has created quite a buzz already.
While there’s quite a lot to be discussed following the album release, it was also noticed that the singer referenced her husband Jay-Z‘s past cheating, which were focal themes of her last album Lemonade and his project 4:44.
Bey also referenced the infamous lift incident which saw her sister, Solange physically attack Jay.
Appearing to refer to the criticism around their relationship over the past six years on Plastic Off The Sofa, Beyonce sings:

Referring to the 2014 fight between her sister Solange and Jay-Z in a New York hotel lift, she sings;

In the album’s second song, Cozy, Beyonce appears to hint at the incident, singing: “She’s a god, she’s a hero, she survived, all she been through, confident and she lethal.
“Might I suggest you don’t f*** with my sis, because she comfortable. Comfortable in my skin, cozy with who I am.”
Security camera footage at the time, showed Solange throwing punches at her brother-in-law before a bodyguard dragged her off the rapper.
In the 58-second clip Beyonce was seen frozen in the corner of the lift.

Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has vowed to do all he can to re-sign Lionel Messi next summer when the PSG star’s contract expires.
The Argentine playmaker, 35, exited the Nou Camp to join the French giants on a free transfer in 2021, ending his 21-year Barcelona career.
Laporta, who admitted he feels ‘indebted’ to the Argentine superstar, is set to do everything to bring him back to the Catalan club next year.

The father of world champion and record holder Tobi Amusan, has urged Nigerians to ignore comments made by American track legend Michael Johnson after his daughter’s heroics at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.
Earlier this week, Amusan won her semifinal heat when she crossed the finish line at a time of 12.12 seconds, smashing the previous best of 12.20sec set by American Kendra Harrison in 2016.
But Michael Johnson, who won four Olympic gold medals and 8 World Championships gold medals in the span of his career, questioned her accuracy and timing.

In a chat with The PUNCH, Amusan’s father stated that the American’s comments should be ignored.
“You know the western world and how they behave, you should know what they are,” Kehinde said.
“I feel unconcerned about what he said after the race because God has done what He needs to do. I don’t mind whatever anybody says about the timing, I feel that is how the western world is but they are not God.
“So, he is entitled to his opinion. I won’t take it as an offence because I just believe that’s what these blacks do.”
Also, Amusan’s youth coach, Ayodele Solaja, who coached the 25-year-old while she was a student at the Our Lady of Apostles, Ijebu Ode, said Johnson and other Americans were envious of Amosun, following her feat.
“Everyone in the US, including Michael Johnson, are just wallowing in envy because of the achievement of Tobi,” Solaja told The PUNCH.
“Tobi has done what no Nigerian could do in the World Championship.”
Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are reportedly close to agreeing a deal to stage a sensational rematch.
This is coming nearly five years since Mayweather defeated the UFC superstar in a boxing clash by securing a tenth round TKO victory in Las Vegas back in August 2017.
The Sun has now reported that Mayweather is willing to once again put his unbeaten record on the line in a money-spinning match against McGregor.
Mayweather has not fought professionally in the ring since his victory over the Irishman.
It’s said the two parties are close to cutting a deal after Mayweather offered McGregor $157.9million (£130m) for a rematch.
McGregor is only willing to fight Mayweather if the American’s 50-0 undefeated record is on the line.
The fight would be at 155lbs, meaning McGregor would have to cut some weight after he has reportedly tipped the scales at over 190lbs since breaking his leg.
It’s said that the Mayweather would see the rematch with McGregor as the ‘end of the Mayweather era’ and ‘start of the Gervonta Davis era’.
Mayweather is looking at the bout to take place next March in the Middle East, with a potential fight between Davis and Ryan Garcia as an undercard fight.
McGregor hinted at a potential rematch with Mayweather in a now deleted post he made on his Instagram account last month.

Nigeria and Benin Republic are likely co-host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick, has said.
Guinea has been awarded the hosting rights for 2025 but Africa’s football ruling body, CAF may likely strip Guinea of the hosting right of the biennial African football showpiece.
According to Pinnick, CAF is on course to withdraw the hosting right from the West African country and Nigeria is working on a bid with Benin Republic.
“We are putting a bid together for a co-hosting of the tournament with the Benin Republic,” Pinnick told Complete sports.
“The Minister of Sports has given his endorsement on the bidding.
“It is high time Nigeria hosted an international tournament because there are many advantages attached to hosting of such competitions.
“There are many countries bidding for the competition; we are confident of getting the nod from Caf.
“We are working with the ministry of sports to ensure that Nigeria gets the hosting right.”
Since the inception of AFCON, Nigeria have hosted the rest of the continent on two occasions.
The first time was in 1980 while the second time was in 2000 when the country co-hosted with Ghana .
BBNaija star Ike Onyema has reacted to insinuations that his ex girlfriend, Mercy Eke, took care of him while they were dating.
Mercy was on a show where she stated that she had dated someone she took care of. Other members of the show immediately responded saying they know who she was referring to.
The follow-up question was about her affair with Ike which Mercy immediately denied.
Ike has now denied claims that any woman has ever taken care of him. In a post shared on his Instagram page, Ike also dared any lady who claims to have taken care of him while they were together to provide receipts.

Rapper YCee has slammed social media influencer Solomon Buchi for saying his wife isn’t the most beautiful or the most intelligent but he chose her.
Solomon’s post has been the topic of conversation since he shared it as many social media users debate if it’s OK to point out your significant other’s deficiencies in the name of being “truthful”.
Weighing in, Nigerian rapper YCee took to Snapchat to share a screenshot of Solomon’s Facebook post directed at his fiancée Adeola Arike.

It is a winning season for Nigerian award-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, as she made her solo debut on Billboard Hot 100 chart with her 2020 song, “Free Mind” off her For Broken Ears EP.
“Free Mind” made it to the chart on Monday, a day after Tems featured on the soundtrack of the trailer for Marvel’s Black Panther sequel, “Wakanda Forever”.
The trailer, released on Sunday, was soundtracked by Tems’ rendition of Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright”.
For her debut solo entry, Tems peaked at No. 90, making it her fourth time appearing on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In May, Tems made her debut at the No. 1 spot on Billboard Hot 100 charts with her feature on “Wait For U” by American rapper, Future.
The track also featured Canadian artiste, Drake, and is the seventh on Future’s latest LP album, I Never Liked You.
Tems had debuted earlier on the Hot 100 last October, with her feature on “Essence” remix. The hit song by Wizkid also featured Justin Bieber, and peaked at No. 9 on the charts.
She got her previous entries into the chart from guest appearances in Drake’s “Fountain”.
In June 2022, Tem broke a record as the first Nigerian female artiste to clinch the Best International Act at the BET Awards 2022.
The 2022 award ceremony was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The BET Awards celebrate Black excellence in music, culture and sports.
The talented singer beat Fireboy, Dave from the UK, Dinos from France, Fally Ipupa from Congo, Little Simz from the UK, Ludmilla from Brazil, Major League Djz from South Africa, and Tayc from France.

Hurdler Tobi Amusan became the first Nigerian athlete to win a World Athletics Championship gold as she stormed to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles in Oregon on Sunday.
Amusan, who had obliterated the world record in an astonishing semi-final where she clocked 12.12sec, powered over the line at Hayward Field in 12.06sec.

Preceding her emergence as the recipient of Nigeria’s first-ever World Championship gold, Amusan had produced a jaw-dropping world record in the semi-finals, smashing the previous best mark of 12.20secs held by Keni Harrison of the United States in 2016.
Amusan, who finished fourth three years ago at the World Championship in Doha, also became the second Nigerian sprint hurdler to win a medal at the Championships after Glory Alozie who won a silver medal in Seville, Spain in 1999.
Amusan became the first Nigerian to bag a Diamond League trophy in September 2021 when she set a sensational African Record and Personal Best of 12.42secs, Zurich, breaking Glory Alozie’s 23-year African record.
Alozie ran 12.44secs in Monaco on August 8, 1998 to set a new African record, running the time two other times in Brussels 20 days later and at the World Championships on August 28, 1999 in Seville, Spain.
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan broke the African record after clocking 12.41 seconds in the 100m women’s hurdle in June 2022.
Amusan broke her own record with her third-best run of the season at the Diamond League meet in Paris, France.
During the Paris Diamond League, Amusan blazed to victory with a time (12.41secs – AR) that moved her up to third in the world in 2022, only behind World Leader Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (12.37s) and Alaysha Johnson (12.40s).
Amusan became only the fifth woman to successfully retain gold at the 100m hurdles event after claiming gold at the African Athletics Championships in Mauritius in June.
The 25-year-old won the title for the first time in 2018 at the 21st edition of the competition and is now the third Nigerian to successfully defend the sprint hurdles title after Maria Usifo (1984 and 1985) and Glory Alozie (1996, 1998, and 2000).
She is the fifth African to achieve this feat.
In August 2021, Amusan won her first semi-final in 12.62s to become the first Nigerian since Glory Alozie at Sydney 2000 to qualify for the 100m Hurdles final at the Olympics.

The world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, has congratulated Nigerian athletic star, Tobi Amusan, on her performance in the ongoing World Athletic championship.

Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has been denied a visa to perform in Canada over fears she might not leave the country
Le Devoir, a French-language newspaper published in Canada, reports that the singer will no longer perform at a festival’s final closing concert on Sunday, July 14 due to visa denial.
Yemi was listed as one of the headliners of the Festival international Nuits d’Afrique.
Commenting on the development, Suzanne Rousseau, the festival co-founder, said the visa denial was due to “financial reasons, and for fears that the group wouldn’t leave Canada.”
Rousseau also lamented that the process of applying for a visitor’s visa has been difficult for “at least five years.”
She added: “Finally, we got an answer saying the musicians were refused, saying they have to guarantee that they have enough financial means that will make them go back to their country.”
Rousseau said Yemi Alade will now be replaced with Sampa The Great, a Zambian-born Australian-based female rapper.
Kid Cudi was no substitute for Kanye West at the Rolling Loud Festival Friday night … at least according to some fans who pelted Cudi with objects, including a bottle to the head … and Ye got some lyrical licks in too. Tems was credited as one of the songwriters on track 10 ‘Move’ under her full name Temilade Openiyi.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation and FIFA Council Member, Amaju Pinnick, has condemned the use of laser lights on the Super Falcons during their defeat to host Morocco in the semi-final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Monday, July 18.
Morocan fans directed the beaming laser lights towards the eyes of the Falcons players to disrupt their play during panlty shootout at the full-packed Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
Despite the ugly scenario, the nine-time champions were reduced to 10 women after midfielder Halimat Ayinde and Rasheedat Ajibade were red-carded during the clash.
In a statement by the NFF media team, Pinnick while hailing the Falcons for their gallant display despite all odds also condemned the laser lights directed at the players.
“Of course, we would have been happy to be in the final and chase a 10th title. But I am happy with the performance of the team and the way and manner they approached the game despite all sorts of setbacks and intimidation,” Pinnick said.
“To play 50 minutes of a game with only nine players is not an easy task. The Super Falcons gave their all and were truly fabulous. They had the ‘Nigeria spirit’ in them and showed a sense of patriotism, were dogged, and refused to give up. Penalties are forever a lottery, so it could have gone either way. Inter Miami president, Jorge Mas has confirmed that he and co-owner David Beckham wants to bring Lionel Messi to the club.
Messi is entering his second season with Paris Saint-Germain, but the two club owners are ‘very optimistic’ that a deal can be done in the future.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday, commended the “resilience and professionalism” displayed by Nigeria’s Super Falcons against the Moroccan female national football team in the second semi-final of the African Women’s Cup of Nations.

According to Adesina, President Buhari is encouraged by the doggedness, resilience and professionalism of the girls, who despite playing with two players down before a home crowd showed their quality and class.
‘‘Although many will be disappointed with the Moroccan victory on penalties, there are many positive outcomes for the Nigerian team to take home and prepare better for the next tournament,’’ the President said.
