There are two sides of life and it is very unfortunate that some people fall into the negative category. Life is not rosy for all, as many people go through pains to see that they have food to eat, clothes to wear and a home to live. This people face harsh conditions, with many of them having little or no help and it is left to us to become the Biblical “Good Samaritan” to them. This unfortunate example happens to be the case of a Nigerian family, where the father and daughter live in extreme poverty.
In a video that was posted by you BBC NEWS PIDGIN, this family have been in extreme poverty as a result of the man’s blindness. The man identified as Daniel Isaac works as a grinder at Mile 3 market, despite his blindness. He is always aided by his daughter, Precious Daniel who is not happy with their situation. His wife abandoned them and adviced her daughter to do likewise, but she refused because of the love she have for her father.
Daniel Isaac was having sight issues prior to his blindness in 2016. Initially, his eyes were itching him, as if sand entered his eyes, before he completely went blind. His daughter, Precious Daniel is 19 years of age, and her father’s condition has affected her lifestyle and the way she views things. She revealed that her mother left them because of her husband’s situation and adviced her daughter to follow her, but she shunned her mother and decided to stay with her father. Since then, she has tried all possible means to contact her mother, but all have proved abortive.
She also said that she wrote her Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) in 2018, but have not seen her result, because she doesn’t have money to buy scratch card and she dreams of studying architecture in the university, She revealed that some people have sympathy for them and offers to help them, but at the end of the day, she will feel very sad, because people who promised to help them, end up hurting her feelings.
This kind of emotional story was always going to get lots of reactions from Nigerians and this one didn’t fail to get reactions. Many took to the comment section to blast the teenage girl’s mother and were gutted by her actions. Many went emotional and said encouraging words to the family.
