Asake, Rema, Omah Lay others to headline Promise Land Festival

Famous Nigerian music stars, Rema, Asake and Omah Lay will be headlining the 2024 Promise Land festival in Australia.

The afrobeat stars will join other international singers to thrill the audience at the Promise Land Festival set for October 4, 5 and 6 2024, at Gold Coast.

Rema is billed to perform at the international festival on October 5th alongside American singers, Jorja Smith, Fiji and Miguel.

While Omah Lay and Asake will perform on the closing date alongside Busta Rhymes.

The music bands Compozers, Sarz, Seyi Vibez, Tiwa Savage, Victony, Ruger, BNXN and Shallipopi are also going to take the stage.

Samklef slams Davido for mocking Israel DMW’s ex-wife Sheila

Nigerian music producer, Samklef has blasted Davido for mocking his logistics manager, Israel DMW’s estranged wife, Sheila Courage.

Israel got married to Sheila on October 20, 2022, and the couple parted ways in less than a year after their grand wedding over alleged domestic violence and infidelity.

However, in a viral video on social media on Friday, Davido weighed in on Israel’s marital issues. While boarding his newly acquired private jet with Israel, the musician was heard saying that Sheila ‘is regretting now’.

Reacting to the video clip in a series of posts on his official X handle, Samklef stated that Davido lacks empathy and morals.

He noted that Wizkid and Burna Boy would never call someone’s ex-wife a bitch.

“Dear Davido, you have shown a lack of morals by calling Israel’s ex-wife a “bitch.” How would you feel if someone called your wife, Chioma, the same?

“Wasn’t Israel already flying in private jets before your marriage? Why do you lower yourself like this? You seem to lack empathy and morals, but of course, your hypocritical fans won’t see problem in your childish remark. Happiness does not come from flying in a private jet. You need mentorship and counseling.

“Somebody needs to tell Davido the truth. He needs to grow up. Private jet material thing. Zero mentorship.”

Sina Rambo, wife expecting 3rd child amid separation

Nigerian singer, Sina Rambo and wife, Heidi Korth are expecting their third child together amid their marital crisis.

Korth had in a viral video on her Instagram story in August 2023, announced that she will be giving her diamond wedding ring to any couple that is planning to get married.

She made the announcement while confirming her separation from the singer, accusing him of domestic violence and being a deadbeat father to their children.

However in a new development on Saturday, Korth shared new photos of her two daughters and Rambo, while revealing her baby bump.

Captioning the pictures, she wrote: “Mom of 3”.

With the new development, it seems that the couple has secretly reconciled.

Sina and Korth got married in October 2021.

Singer Sina Rambo is Davido’s cousin and son of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

BBNaija Angel and Soma to get married next year

Former Big Brother Naija reality star, Ilebaye Odiniya, has revealed the date of her colleagues, Angel and Soma’s wedding.

She disclosed that the duo will tie the knots in January next year.

She revealed this in a video message with Angel making the rounds on the internet.

However, the Big Brother Naija ‘All-Stars’ edition winner did not disclose a specific date.

Ilebaye: “We are not supposed to announce it yet, the [Angel and Soma’s] wedding is next year January. Oh my God, I just exposed you guys.”

Angel also flashed her engagement ring on the camera.

Angel and Soma started dating on the ‘All-Stars’ edition of the Big Brother Naija reality show last year.

The duo revealed that they were in relationships before coming on the show but were ready to sacrifice their relationships for each other.

Their relationship has continued to blossom even after the show despite occasional rumours of their breakup.

Skit maker Untouchable loses father

Popular content creator, Chibuke Gabriel, widely known as Untouchable Comedies, has lost his father to stroke.

Announcing the incident in a now viral video on social media, Untouchable revealed that his late father had been battling with stroke for about 20 years before his death.

The clip captured the comedian’s father wrapped in a shroud, surrounded by family members.

Expressing his sorrow, the content creator described his father’s death as a tremendous loss for his family.

Sharing the video of his father’s journey, he said: “I lost my father, and it’s really a tough time for my family right now. God knows best.”

Popular movie producer and actor, Chris Bassey, has left the Nigerian entertainment industry for plumbing work.

Chris made this known while sharing insights into his new life in Canada.

Speaking during a live chat with Daddy Freeze on Instagram, he emphasized that his new career pays better than tech jobs and also gives him a more relaxed lifestyle.

Daddy Freeze asked: “I know you as a producer and actor, what career are you into this Yankee?”

Bassey replied: “I’m into construction here.”

Daddy Freeze who was surprised by the development, however questioned the actor’s transition despite his fame.

US rapper, Rich Homie Quan, dies at 33

United States rapper, Dequantes Lamar, popularly know as Rich Homie Quan, has died at the age of 33.

The Atlanta rapper, who burst onto the hip-hop scene in 2013, was said to have died in Georgia on Thursday.

In a statement, the Fulton County Medical Examiner said that Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital notified its personnel of the rapper’s death.

It added that the cause and manner of death has not been ascertained and an autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.

The statement read, “On Thursday, 5 September 2024, the Fulton County Medical Examiner was notified by Grady Memorial Hospital of the death of Dequantes Devontay Lamar.

“An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday, 6 September 2024.”

Quan was born on October 4, 1989, in Atlanta. In the 2010s, he started making trap music and collaborated with rappers like Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, YG, Young Thug, Trinidad James, and more.

He was considered part of a rising generation of rappers who delivered songs with intense emotion and fiery passion that permeated each release.

Quan made a splash with his debut on the charts in 2013 when his “Type of Way” anthem peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Ayra Starr demands justice for slain FUNAAB student

Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has condemned the brutal murder of Idowu Christianah, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB.

Christianah was allegedly killed by her friend, Ayomide Adeleye, a suspected serial killer.

Ayra Starr in a post via her official X page condemned the act and called for swift justice for the victim.

The singer emphasised the urgent need to address violence against women, asserting that they deserve better protection and treatment.

She wrote, “Stop killing us! Stop raping us! Women deserve better #JusticeForChristianah,’
Ayra Starr’s outcry follows revelations from an ongoing investigation which uncovered that Adeleye, who had been a close friend of Christianah, kidnapped, murdered and buried her body on his property.

It has also come to light that Adeleye had previously been linked to the deaths of his ex-girlfriend and blood sister in separate incidents in 2018 and 2020.

Famous rapper, Megan Thee Stallion has opened up about her beef with her colleague, Nicki Minaj.

Speaking in an interview with Billboard, Megan claimed that she doesn’t know the root cause of their beef.

Asked whether the beef could be reconciled, she said: “I still to this day don’t know what the problem is. I don’t even know what could be reconciled because I, to this day, don’t know what the problem is.”

Megan and Minaj’s beef started after fans began pitting them against each other on social media.

The situation has made the artists supposed rivals. Megan and Minaj have avoided engaging or collaborating since fans began fuelling their alleged beef.

Singer, Korede Bello has opened up on why he left Don Jazzy-led Mavins Records.

DAILY POST recalls that Bello signed with Mavins in February 2014 but exited the label in 2021.

Speaking in a recent interview with Hip TV hosted by reality star KimOprah, the singer revealed that he left Mavins because he felt like a product that was just there to make money.

He said, “I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why.

“Because I was at a stage where I started to feel like a product that is just there [at Mavins Records] to make money.

Court jails singer, Flavour’s impersonator for defrauding US lady

A federal high court sitting in Lagos has sentenced singer, Flavour’s impersonator, Courage Ipaka to two years imprisonment.

Ipaka reportedly used Flavour’s identity to defraud a United States-based lady, Yvelte M. Thompson of $53,000.

Azibagiri Dan Ekpar, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC’s investigator, led the probe against Ipaka on Tuesday.

Ekpar said that the defendant promised to organise shows in America and received payment from the victim through his Bitcoin wallets.

Following a petition received from one Eyitayo Tolulope Abiodun and others on behalf of the victim, “We invited Flavour who claimed innocence of the allegations.

“Upon investigation, we discovered that one Ipaka Courage who lives in Benin City was the perpetrator. The defendant admitted in his statement that he impersonated Flavour by obtaining $53,000 from a woman who is a United States citizen in 2021.

“He wired the funds through Bitcoin wallets and converted them into his Access Bank account where he received the value in Naira.

“The sum of N7.9 million was recovered from the defendant through Zenith and Access Bank manager’s cheques.”

The presiding judge, Dehinde Dipeolu, in his ruling, sentenced Ipaka to two years imprisonment with an option of a fine of N2 million.

Also, he forfeited the sum of N7.9 million to Thompson.

Ailing music video director, Thankgod Omori, aka TG Omori, has issued a disclaimer following controversial singer, Portable’s claim about Nigerian celebrities not supporting him.

Portable had berated Nigerian celebrities for not donating their organs and money to TG Omori who recently underwent an unsuccessful kidney transplant surgery despite making financial donations to controversial cross-dresser, Bobrisky during his prison ordeal.

Reacting, TG Omori clarified that his colleagues and friends were “solidly behind” him even before his ailment became public.

He urged the public to ignore those insinuating otherwise.

Omori emphasised that all he needed were prayers and moral support.

On his X handle, he wrote: “All I needed was your prayers, moral support and love and this I am grateful to have gotten in abundance.

“The industry and friends have been solidly behind me months before it all came public. Please ignore the clout desperate dogs. Jesus is king.”

Adele announces taking a break from music

Famous British singer Adele has gone on sabbatical.

The 16-time Grammy winner announced to attendees at her concert in Munich on Saturday that she needs “a rest.”

She explained that she had been working hard for the past seven years and now was the time for her to enjoy the benefits of her hard work.

“It has been amazing, I just need a rest. I have spent the last 7 years building a life for myself, and I want to live it now,” she said.

Adele recently confirmed her engagement to her American boyfriend, Rich Paul.

The ‘Hello’ hitmaker revealed that she’s getting married during a performance in Munich, Germany, on August 9.

Fuji star Obesere escapes death after undergoing surgery

Fuji music star, Abass Akande, AKA Obesere, has revealed that he recently underwent a surgery that almost claimed his life.

Obesere disclosed this in an Instagram post on Saturday.

He expressed gratitude to God for surviving a life-threatening surgery.

“The Almighty Allah has been merciful to me,” Obesere wrote.

“I escaped a surgery that almost took my life but Allah said NO!”

The post triggered an outpouring of warm wishes from fans, who wished him speedy recovery.

Famous American rapper and radio personality, Isaac Freeman, professionally known as Fatman Scoop, is dead.

Rapper Fatman Scoop died at 53 after suffering a medical emergency on stage during a concert.

Announcing his death on Saturday, his tour manager said he was ‘lost for words.’

A viral video on social media showed the moment Scoop collapsed on stage in Hamden Town Center Park, Connecticut, on Friday, and was rushed to hospital.

He was seen struggling after he climbed the stage at his final show before disappearing from view, as medics raced to revive him.

Nigerian actress, Lizzy Anjorin, has spoken on allegations of an affair with Toyin Abraham’s husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi.

Controversial blogger, Esther Aboderin, popularly known as Esabod, recently accused Lizzy of engaging in an intimate relationship with Ajeyemi.

Reacting to the allegation in a viral video on Instagram, Lizzy dismissed the rumours, labeling it “evil”.

She further urged the public to disregard the claims.

Afrobeats global sensation, Ayra Starr has joined the growing list of pop stars to venture into the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood.

The 22-year-old Grammy-nominated diva is set to make her acting debut in Prime Video’s original ‘Christmas In Lagos’.
The romantic comedy also stars Teniola A. Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo and Shaffy Bello, and Adekunle Gold.

It follows recently heartbroken Fiyin (Aladese), who’s convinced her best friend, Elo (Obiago), is the love of her life.

The movie was filmed in Lagos and directed by Jadesola Osiberu.

“For me, Ayra Starr represents what it means to be young and female and daring and brave and fearless – just being yourself. She was on the list from day one,” Osiberu told Variety.

Other musicians making cameos in the film include Wurld and Liya, while the soundtrack features songs from legendary musician, Sunny Ade, Afrobeats icons, Flavour and D’banj, and more.

Governor Obaseki names Edo arena after Rema

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has revealed that the 6,000-capacity Edo Arena would be named after afrobeats global star, Rema.

The governor announced this during the groundbreaking ceremony of the project in Benin City on Wednesday.

Rema, who was in Benin for his homecoming concert at the Ogbe Stadium, joined the governor for the groundbreaking ceremony of Edo Arena and laid the first block.

“It was a pleasure to have our global music icon @heisrema, join me in performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the 6,000-capacity Edo Arena. The arena, which will be called ‘Rema’s Dome,’ is located at the former Garrick Memorial School Ground on Ekenhuan Road in Benin City,” Governor Obaseki said in a statement via X shortly after the ceremony.

The Governor explained that when completed, the arena will host a wide range of events- from concerts and national conferences to symposiums and other large gatherings.

He added that the arena will attract more visitors to the state, “allowing them to experience our rich culture and what we have to offer, which will create employment opportunities for our youths.”

Rema, born Divine Ikubor, is from Benin City and has been a proud ambassador of Edo State, promoting the state and legacy of the ancient Benin empire in his music and concerts.

His latest hit song ‘Benin Boys’ which featured fellow Edo-born star, Shallipopi, is a tribute to the city of Benin.

American actor and wrestler, John Cena has revealed that his biggest fear is that he would never be ready to be a “great parent.”

The 47-year-old, who has been married twice without kids, explained that he would never be ready to invest the time needed to be a great parent.

“My biggest fear is I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be, to invest the time it takes to be a great parent,” Cena said in a recent interview with Club Shay Shay.

“Because I still have a lot to do and I still want to do a lot. I have a wonderful partner, we’ve had open conversations about this. We share the same values.

“It’s a tough subject to talk about because it immediately puts you in a category. People tend to judge. Human nature, we are all judgmental. But I operate under the construct that everyone is okay living their lives.
