VeryDarkMan denies defaming Falz, Falana

Controversial self-styled activist, Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, has denied defaming Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana and rapper, Falz.

Falz and Falana gave VeryDarkMan a 24-hour ultimatum to retract his publication against them, alleging that they played roles in getting a soft landing for controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, during his jail sentence.

Bobrisky was jailed for three months after pleading guilty to naira mutilation following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

He was released on 5th August, 2024.

On Tuesday, 24th September 2024, VeryDarkMan leaked Bobrisky’s alleged voice recording wherein the cross-dresser claimed that human rights lawyer, Femi Falana and his son, Falz, helped to get the EFCC to drop money laundering charges against him.

In separate statements by their legal representative, Falana and Falana’s Chambers, Chief Falana and Falz denied the allegations and demanded immediate retraction of the said publication, as well as an apology from VeryDarkMan to be published on all the platforms within 24 hours.

Reacting via a video message shared on his social media pages, VeryDarkMan denied defaming Chief Femi Falana and Falz.

He claimed that he only reacted to Bobrisky’s leaked call.

“I never defamed uncle Femi Falana, and I’ll never do so. Uncle Femi Falana is somebody that I respect so much. Not because of his position as a SAN but because of what he has used his position to do, representing the likes of me that speak against the ills of society, abuse of power, abuse of influence and also the bad dealings of the government,” he said.

“I only reacted to the call Bobrisky made. He was the one that alleged that Falz connected him to uncle Femi Falana and bla bla bla N10 million.

“And what I said was that I chose not to believe that uncle Femi Falana would be associated with that and if, I would be disappointed because of his position in society.

“I had an option of cutting off the part of the leaked audio where Bobrisky mentioned Falz but I refused because I want a thorough investigation on the matter,” he added.

Instagram launches “teen accounts” with restrictive features for safety

Instagram has launched “teen accounts,” a special feature to help protect users under the age of 18 and enhance their safety on the platform.

Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, announced the rollout of the feature in a statement via its blog on Tuesday, September 17.

It said all accounts belonging to users under 18 will be automatically converted to Instagram teen accounts, which will be set to private by default.

Users under the age of 16 will need parental permission to modify the default settings but 16 and 17-year-olds will be allowed to disable the settings without needing approval from a parent.

Parents will also have access to a set of tools that let them monitor their children’s interactions and restrict app usage.

The feature is expected to start rolling out within 60 days in the UK, US, Canada and Australia while other countries will start to get theirs by January.
