Nollywood actress Olamide Odunlade narrowly escaped tragedy on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, when a petrol tanker overturned and exploded on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The incident occurred near the Deeper Life Bible Church, opposite the NASFAT camp, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky and triggering panic among motorists and nearby residents.
Caught in the terrifying ordeal, Olamide shared an emotional video on Instagram, documenting her frantic escape. Fighting back tears, she said, “God, thank you. What would I have said? Everybody run!”
Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), confirmed the explosion and said victims who sustained injuries were rushed to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Shagamu.
Rescue teams from TRACE and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) swiftly responded to the scene. FRSC Sector spokesperson Florence Okpe confirmed the explosion happened on the outbound Lagos lane of the expressway.
