We’ll help Nigerians bypass FG’s ban – Twitter

Twitter says it will work to ensure Nigerians are able to access its platform despite the Federal Government’s enforced suspension.

In a statement released on Saturday through its official Twitter policy account, the company expressed deep concern over the blocking of access to its platform in Nigeria.

The microblogging service also noted that ”open internet” is a human right which no one should be deprived off in a modern society.

The statement read; ”We are deeply concerned by the blocking of Twitter in Nigeria. Access to the free and #OpenInternet is an essential human right in modern society. We will work to restore access for all those in Nigeria who rely on Twitter to communicate and connect with the world. #Keepiton”

The federal government on Friday suspended Twitter’s operations in Nigeria.

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, who made the announcement said the government was forced to act because of “the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence”.
