Woman dumped by her husband builds her own house after 4 years of riding okada

A Kenyan woman who had to start life afresh after her husband dumped her, has prevailed against all odds and become a homeowner within a space of four years.

In 2017, when Eunice Otieng’s husband left her for another woman, she would have never imagined that one day she would be a landlord because by then, she was having a myriad of challenges; one of them being that her ex-hubby left her with huge loans to service.

The mother of one however, picked the pieces up, started some new businesses and has now been able to build a house for herself.

Speaking in an interview with TUKO.co.ke, the mother of one recounted how she and her daughter became homeless after the landlord closed down their house due to months-long rent arrears.

However, being the strong woman she is, Otieng, who works as a nurse said she decided to start working as a commercial motorcycle rider.

I almost ran mad with my small salary. I had no option but to think about how to start life from zeros. I had a motorcycle which I took and I started boda boda job,” she said.

Being that her salary as a nurse was going into the repayment of the loans that she took for her ex-spouse, she did night shifts and so during the day, she hustled as an Okada rider.

She saved a sum of N94,000 and started a small business in 2018. Since she had a piece of land that she had bought before marriage, she started building her house.

”I decided that I will work hard for my baby to get the best. I think I was working hard with a lot of anger to change my life. That’s why I was able to finish the house,” Otieng said.

She also had savings for her baby and she decided to use them to build the rentals which she recently finished.

According to the hardworking Busia woman, she gifted her five-year-old daughter the rentals to heal the pain they went through when the landlord closed their house due to rent arrears.

“I gifted her the houses to wipe the tears we cried when the landlord was locking our house. I vowed to make her a landlady at this tender age,” she said.

Remi Tinubu under fire for calling woman ‘thug’ at constitution review hearing (Video)

Senator Remi Tinubu, was involved in an altercation on Wednesday at the venue for the south-west zonal public hearing of the constitution review.

She had referred to a woman as a thug during a confrontation outside the event hall at Marriott Hotel in Lagos.

It all started when citizens were waiting on the queue as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, came in and was ushered in through the backdoor, after which the front door was shut.

The ushers then informed those on the queue that registration had closed for the day.

However, the development did not sit well with those who were unable to register, and they refused to leave the queue.

It was at this moment that some lawmakers from Oyo state passed the queue and were about to be ushered in, leading to commotion at the front entrance.

As the shouts continued near the front door, with those on the queue insisting that they had been unfairly treated, the Oyo lawmakers were about to be hurriedly ushered through the backdoor, but the people followed them, preventing them from being allowed into the hall.

However, after some consultation with the personnel at the door, Tinubu showed up at the backdoor to allow the lawmakers in.

As she was about to do this, a woman, who complained about being denied entry, decried the partial treatment and voiced out her frustration.

Seeing this, the Lagos central senator beckoned on her and two others, only to call the woman a “thug”.

“So some time last year during my birthday celebration, I was stucked in london due to the pandemic but I got my team to celebrate in my absence and of course they visited orphanges ,shared items for the vulnerables and I told myself that the only birthday gift I wanted was to take this woman and her kids off the street.

“So we got her an apartment, furnished it in our own capacity and gave her a token to start a small scale business. Sadly, she left the house in less than two weeks and sold all the items in the house.

“But she ran out of luck when a charity organisation reached out to me on Facebook that they did the same thing for her and even went as far as enrolling her kids in a private school but she withdrew them and sold the items in her house again.

“So guys, I am pushing this video out not for anything but for everyone not to think we didn’t fulfill our promises as she’s back on the street so obviously this is a “GAME” for her. Be careful guys, things dey happen for Naija!”

Woman accidentally suffocates her husband with her buttocks

A Russian woman has been charged to court for allegedly killing her husband by suffocating him with her buttocks.

Tatyana O was charged with murder after she reportedly sat on her husband, Aidar during a row and refused to let go of him until he “begged forgiveness”.

The man’s daughter saw her father pinned face down on the bed and ran to seek help from neighbours in Novokuznetsk, Russia, according to evidence in the case.

According to the investigative report, a female neighbour came in but decided this was a domestic dispute which the couple would solve.

Also, the neighbour didn’t get involved because Tatyana said she wanted to “calm him down” after they had been drinking.

Soon afterwards, it is alleged, Aidar died and Tatyana screamed, leading to the neighbour rushing back.

The neighbour called an ambulance but the husband was pronounced dead at the scene.

A later medical examination found that the man died from “asphyxia” – blocking the “respiratory system,” as his face was wedged into the mattress, with the woman sitting on his neck, “using her legs so he could not lift it”.

At a first trial, a murder charge was dropped and Tatyana was convicted of causing death by negligence.

She had no intention to kill him, the court heard.

She was sentenced to 18 months of corrective labour and ordered to pay around £2,000 in “moral damages”, Life reported.

But this week the Investigative Committee announced it is pressing for a new murder charge against the wife.

The woman had been angry “after drinking heavily” and “as soon as the man lay down on the bed, burying his face in the mattress, she sat on his neck, while holding his head with her legs so that he could not lift it.”

After he stopped showing signs of life, “the accused, frightened, shook him and shouted at him to wake him up”.

The murder suspect weighs more than 100 kilograms, said the investigative committee.

Woman wakes up with Irish accent after throat surgery

An Australian woman has gone viral on TikTok after claiming that she woke up with an Irish accent following tonsil surgery.

Angela Yen, 27, had a tonsillectomy on April 19 and was confused when her Aussie accent reportedly turned into an Irish brogue 10 days after the procedure.

“I’ve never been to Ireland. I grew up in Australia and had an Aussie accent for the last 20 years since I moved here when I was 8 years old,” she told Storyful.

The Brisbane resident met with doctors and did research trying to figure out what happened to her normal accent.

Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki, a science author and commentator, weighed in on the debacle in a TikTok video explaining that Yen may have foreign accent syndrome.

The rare speech disorder causes a person to sound like they are speaking with an accent from another country. It has only been reported about 150 times, according to Kruszelnicki, and is normally caused by a brain injury. But Yen explained in a video that she has no neurological symptoms — and doctors are reportedly perplexed.

When I started singing, I was singing in a different sound and also talking words in a funny accent,” Yen recounted of the morning she discovered her new trick.

She told viewers that she’s found a neurologist with a specialty in stroke rehabilitation who is willing to help diagnose her.
