A 33-year-old woman, Olaide Adekunle, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State police command for allegedly selling off her 18-month-old baby to a yet-to-be-identified buyer at the rate of #600,000.
The suspect was arrested following a complain lodged at Sango divisional headquarters by the woman’s husband, Nureni Rasaq, who reported that his wife, Olaide Adekunle, left home to Lagos on the 15th of March 2023 with their baby girl by name Moridiat Rasaq, but returned home without the baby.
He stated further that all efforts to know what happened to the baby proved abortive as the woman was unable to give any reasonable account of whereabout of the said baby.
Upon the report, the DPO Sango division, CSP Dahiru Saleh, detailed his detectives to go after the said woman, and she was promptly arrested.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed that she has sold her baby to someone in Lagos at the rate of six hundred thousand naira (#600,000).
When asked the reason for her action, she stated that she borrowed money from a microfinance bank, and when she was unable to pay back the money, the bank agents started disturbing her and threatening to deal decisively with her.
It was consequent upon this that she ran to Lagos and started hawking sachet water. She said it was while hawking that she met a man who introduced her to the woman that eventually bought the child in Lagos.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Babakura Muhammed, has directed that the suspect be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and possible recovery of the baby.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Friday recovered a day-old baby abandoned at a dumpsite in Kwara State.
The NSCDC spokesman in the state, Babawale Afolabi, who disclosed this in a statement in Ilorin, said the incident occurred at Dokoyirigi Compound in Patigi, Edu local government area of the state.
The statement read: “In the early hours of Friday, one of our officers at the Patigi Divisional Office was on her way to the office when she discovered an unidentified baby girl.
The baby was left in a stinking dumpsite located around the Dokoyirigi area of the town.
“She said the baby who was already becoming unconscious was a girl and the officer quickly took her to the general hospital in Patigi.
“The baby was immediately attended to and her medical condition has stabilised.”
The spokesman, however, said the agency has commenced moves to get the child’s mother.”
Police operatives in Lagos have arrested a 40-year-old woman, Chinyere Okechukwu, for allegedly stealing and selling a five-month-old baby for N900, 000 to a childless couple in the state.
The spokesman of the state police command, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, said the suspect stole the child from her mother in Anambra State, and sold to the couple, Paul and Happiness Ibebuilo, in Lagos.
Adejobi said preliminary investigations revealed that the woman operates a child trafficking syndicate with one Chiano with whom she arranged to marry the 20-year-old mother of the child, Onyechukwu Okafor, early in March.
He said: “After Okechukwu had paid the N50,000 bride price of the single mother, she also paid an extra N50,000 as money spent on hospital bills during the birth of the child.
Okechukwu later travelled with the mother of the child to Lagos and sold the child to the Ibebuilos.”
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, who paraded the suspects at the command headquarters on Monday, said the three suspects had been arrested and the case file transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.
He said: “One Onyechukwu Okafor, 20, reported to the police at Satellite Division that her son, one Chimuanya Okafor, five-months-old, was forcefully taken away by one Chinyere Okechukwu, 40, of No 24, Muyiwa Opalyeye Street, Surulere and sold him for N900,000 to one Happiness Ibebuilo, of Iyana Oba Lagos.
Police swung into action and moved to the house of one Ibebuilo Paul, 45, in whose custody the stolen child was recovered. The suspects were eventually arrested by the police.”

Reports hard it that A 20- year- old woman by the name Makoduchukwu Ndubisi, has reportedly stabbed her husband, John Bosco Ngu with her baby, to death in Anambra State.
It was discovered that the sad incident happened at Nsugbe in the Anambra East Local Government Area of the state.
The Police force, Anambra State command’s Public Relations Officer, Haryana Mohammed, said the deceased has been taken to a nearby morgue while investigation to the killing has commenced immediately.
The suspect allegedly had a serious quarrel with her husband, one John Bosko Ngu, who was 35years of age of the same address, and she stabbed him on his chest with a sharp knife while he was asleep.
The scene was visited by police detectives after they heard the incident and the victim rushed to Borromeo Hospital, Onitsha, for medical attention but was comfirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The corpse was fixed in the hospital mortuary for autopsy, some strong exhibit was recovered and the case is under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
The woman who was caught red-handed at the scene was suspected to be the killer of the man. After series of interrogations, it was discovered that the woman did not only killed the husband but also killed the little baby that was just two months old.
According to the woman she stabbed the man on the chest with a small knife after they have hard a serious quarrel early that evening.
The woman neighbors who came out to testify against the woman said the woman purposely killed the man for no just course.
The Anambra State Commissioner of Police condemned the act totally and said he will charge the woman to court immediately. The state police CP was not angry because of the man but for the little baby who was also killed by this woman.
The woman carried the dead baby in her hands while been arrested by the police. According to eyewitnesses, they said the two couples have been quarreling on daily basis.
They cried bitterly for the innocent girl who was a victim of circumstance.
Police operatives in Edo State have arrested a 63-year-old man, Sunday Igbinokhuaihe, for allegedly luring a two-year-old girl into his room and defiled her.
The alleged crime happened around Urhonigbe, in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, who is a neighbour to the parents of the girl, reportedly lured the baby into his room with a loaf of bread and then fingered her private part until her hymen got broken.
The mother of the baby, was said to have discovered the abuse meted out to her daughter when she wanted to bathe her.
Following her screaming, the mother probed the girl, who showed her how the 63-year-old man inserted his finger into her private part.
The matter was later reported at Urhonigbe Police Station and the suspect was apprehended.
The matter has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Edo State Police Command in Benin.
Speaking on the matter, the Edo State Police Command’s spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, said that investigation into the matter had been concluded.
He added that the suspect would be taken to court to answer for his alleged crime during the week.

Nikki confided in twin Brie Bella, “I just feel confused ’cause I’m a new mom and, for some reason, thought I can handle it or do it all.”

When I see this post, I felt really sad because I wonder why this lady would abandon such a child hours after given birth to the child. TeboPost revealed that a new born baby has been abandoned by the mother in front of a stranger’s door in Bafoussam, West Region of Cameroon. This baby was born today and according to the post, the umbilical cord of the baby is still hanging.
Reports have it that it is unclear why the lady chose to abandon the child in front of a stranger’s door and why she chose that particular door to abandon the baby.
I can imagine the pain this new born baby will be passing through, for crying out loud the baby is new to the world and should be treated nicely. Could it be that the family of this lady was not with her when she put to bed? because if they were with her, I am so sure that they would not have allowed her to abandon a day old baby.

This Woman, Ruth gave birth to a little boy some months ago and was exceedingly excited as she was blessed with the fruit of the womb. Her husband, Venost who had revealed the happy news to his friends and family was also preparing to celebrate. Their cheerful moment changed when they discovered something unusual about the health and well-being of their baby boy.
The baby was not normal as he was supposed to be. Nevertheless, The journey all began when the baby was born just like other normal children, the doctors realised that the baby turned out to experience some complicated health problems. The baby has never weep since he was born up till this moment and this surprised everyone.
I noticed that my child showed no signs of tears, I also realised that there was a something wrong with the baby. I reported the issue to the medical center but I was told to be rest assured that nothing would go wrong with the baby, Ruth said.

Days passed and the baby still hadn’t cried a bit, this was getting serious, the mother already lost hope and was terrified about the issue because it was abnormal for a newly born baby to neither cry nor shed tears since he was born.
The mother, Ruth attempted several kinds of ideas probably the baby might cry, she tried starving the child by feeding him late perhaps the hunger might force the little boy to shed some tears but the situation was still the same. The child refused to cry.
Once, The baby woke up one night was breathing heavily, the mother noticed that her baby was having difficulties and struggling to breathe. The couple had no clue of what to do, there was no means of transportation in their actual location due to the fact that the hospital was far away. They had to stay up late till morning to make any decision.
The following day, the baby was hurriedly rushed to the medical center for a check-up in Rwanda. The baby’s condition got worse as he was taken to a more qualified hospital. After their arrival at the hospital, the child was put on an oxygen support to aid his breathing.
Ruth and her husband spent some days in the hospital waiting for the reports from their baby’s condition. The medical personnels examined the child’s body and finally they had to revealed the truth about their baby’s condition. The boy was diagnosed with a hole in his heart which led to some blockages in the part of the arteries which transports blood to the lungs.
The life of the baby could only be saved by a surgical operation which is obviously impossible and very expensive for the family to afford. The surgery was said to be undergone in an advanced hospital in countries like India.
The couple were extremely poor and this made them reluctant to proceed with the preparations of the surgical operation. There was no way they could pay that huge amount of money required for their baby’s surgery.
The mother had no other choice but to return home with her child who could die if an urgent decision is not taken. She took her baby back home and the doctors prescribed some drugs to help the baby a bit. The medical practitioners advised her to take good care of the sick child due to the fact that his Health condition is not stabilize.
Now the family only hope is Prayer since they are not financially capable, they can only pray for God’s miracles to save their dying child.
