Sorrow as Form Three Student Dies While Allegedly Trying to ‘Flush’ Unborn Baby

There was sorrow in Nang’eni village, Bubumula sub-county within Bungoma County when a form three girl passed away while allegedly trying to do away with her pregnancy, also known as flushing.

The girl is said to have consumed unknown medicine with the hopes of terminating her pregnancy, only for the same to backfire badly, sending her to the grave.

According to sources from Bungoma, the area Chief Chrispus Makokha that cases of pregnancy among schoolkids are common and on the rise in the region since the COVID-19 break.

“I am very disappointed with this act, my advice to parents is that they should take care of schoolgirls, being pregnant is not the end of life,” he said.

In a video shared on social media by Nation this Sunday, residents expressed their despoilments in the horrific act.

According to some who spoke to Nation, some students are forced to do so by their mothers. They said mothers plunge into fear when their daughters are pregnant because their husbands always put the blame on them.
