Sanwo-Olu, Makinde, Obasanjo, others present at Ayo Adebanjo’s funeral

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was also present at the funeral service of late elder statesman and former factional leader of Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Samuel Ayodele Adebanjo at St. Phillips Anglican Church, Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Adebanjo passed away on February 14 at 96.

A solemn evening of tributes initially held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos earlier this week.

However, in a post via the X handle of the Lagos Governor, on Saturday, he disclosed his attendance at the funeral service.

He described his presence at the funeral as ‘respect to a man who lived a life of purpose, integrity, and service’.

Sharing photos on X, he wrote: “Today, I attended the funeral service of late Chief Samuel Ayodele Adebanjo at St. Phillips Anglican Church, Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

“We honoured and paid our respects to a man who lived a life of purpose, integrity, and service and one whose legacy will continue to inspire many of us.”

Also present at the event was the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, his Ogun state counterpart, Dapo Abiodun, amongst many others.
