Osun Police alerts residents on ‘ritual activities of Yahoo Boys’

Osun State Police Command has warned members of the public, especially residents of the state, to be wary of nefarious activities of internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo Boys.

In a statement signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba, the Command Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola revealed that the warning became necessary after the police observed a disturbing dimension to their activities.

Opalola said the Yahoo Boys had escalated their nefarious activities to include ritual practices, hatching sinister plots to lure and kill unsuspecting victims, especially women with the intention of harvesting their body parts for ritual purpose.

The statement reads, “The Osun State Police Command is using this medium to caution members of the public, especially young girls, on the activities of internet fraudsters, popularly known as ‘Yahoo Boys’.

“This warning/advice becomes pertinent as the Command has noticed disturbing techniques/dimensions of the Yahoo Boys in our society.

“These fraudsters have escalated their nefarious activities to include ritualistic practices, hatching sinister plots to lure and murder unsuspecting victim(s) predominantly women with the intention of harvesting their body parts for ritual purpose.”

While calling on members of the public to help the police with vital information when they have such, Opalola also assured that CP Umar Abba was committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors in the state.

She also disclosed that the Police Command was working tirelessly to apprehend and prosecute anyone found wanting in the act.
