Nasarawa State gets new police commissioner

The Nasarawa State Police Command has disclosed that a new Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, has been deployed to the state.

It added that the new police boss was posted to the command’s headquarters to take over from the former CP, Umar Nadada, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

This was contained in a statement signed on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, and made available to journalists in Lafia, the state capital.

Nansel noted that the new police boss, who is the 29th CP in the state, is soliciting the support and collaboration of the public to decisively deal with the scourge of all forms of crimes in the state.

The statement read, “The Nasarawa State Police Command wishes to inform the residents of Nasarawa State and members of the public that CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed PSC, mnips, has assumed duty as the 29th Commissioner of Police. He replaces CP Umar Shehu Nadada PSC, mni, following his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

“CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed hails from Mubi North LGA of Adamawa State. He holds (B.Ed) in Physical and Health Education from the University of Maiduguri. He joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and has served the Nigeria Police Force in various states and capacities such as the acting Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command; Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia, Nasarawa State Command; the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Zone 8 Lokoja; and the Gombe State Command, respectively.

“That apart, the pragmatic Commissioner of Police served as the Coordinator, North-West Border Zone Katsina and Lagos, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Liaison INEC Abuja.”

He, therefore, appealed to the public to always provide useful information to the state command to enable its personnel to serve the people better.
