On Tuesday, the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, banished Favour Kanu, wife of Fineboy Kanu, the younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, for streaming the proceedings of the court live on her Facebook page.
Mr Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, is being prosecuted by the federal government over a terrorism charge.
Justice James Omotosho, who gave the order after Ms Kanu admitted to engaging in the act and apologised to the court, held that Ms Kanu would have been charged with contempt of court.
Although Mr Kanu’s lawyer, Kanu Agabi, also apologised on her behalf, the judge insisted that Ms Kanu would be barred from three proceedings.
The judge expressed surprise that, even though Ms Kanu’s phone was confiscated on the last adjourned date when she was caught recording him, she still posted the video online.
