A police inspector was on Tuesday, January 17, shot dead in Aba, Abia state, by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
Police spokesperson in Abia State, Geoffrey Ogbonna, who confirmed the killing, said the incident happened at about 12:30 p.m.
Two of the gunmen were also killed during the shootout which ensued with the police.
Ogbonna further revealed that the gunmen stole a rifle from the slain police officer.
The police are now asking for information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.
