Sharon Chepkirui, a 13-year-old pupil in Ngaraita primary school, visited her boyfriend who is also her classmate on Wednesday night. She wore school uniform that she had taken with her and went to school with Kevin Kipruto. According to Samuel Ruto, her father, she sneaked out after eating supper only to reappear with other pupils in the afternoon.
She was disciplined and warned against indulging such behaviors that could ruin her future. The girl did not take it lightly. She retaliated by setting the house on fire. She scared anybody with machete who dare try to save valuables that were in the house or put off the fire. After making sure that the fire could not be distinguish, she told outlookers that she is going to get married and run away. Everything that was in the house was burned into ashes while the house was partially destroyed.
Cases of pregnancies and early marriages in Bomet is high. Many girls got married during COVID-19 holiday and others were forced to discontinued with studies due to cases of pregnancies.
