Fire gutted no fewer than five shops on Tuesday at the Timber Market in Kenyatta Street, Uwani, Enugu.

It was gathered that prompt response by the State Fire Service quenched the fire from spreading to other parts of the plywood market.

A firefighter, who preferred anonymity, said the service received a distress call around 9.45 pm that the market was on fire and it immediately swung into action and quenched the fire before it spread to other parts of the market.

“As you can see, only about five shops were affected by the fire in this big market. I cannot say much on this incident as I am not the Chief Fire Officer,” the fireman said.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness who identified himself as Joe, told the News Agency of Nigeria that some neighbours in the area rushed to the market and within a few minutes the fire service arrived and quenched the fire.

”I thank God and the fire service for the quick response, otherwise, it would have been disastrous,” he said.

Police operatives in Adamawa State have arrested two men suspected to be armed robbers.

The duo were said to be among five men who have been terrorizing motorists along the Numan-Lafiya road connecting Adamawa and Gombe states.

A statement from the Adamawa State Police Command obtained Wednesday morning gave the names of the two now in custody as Bello Siddiki, aged 31 years; and Hammadu Saidu, aged 25; both residents of Sabewa Borrong, in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The arrest resulted from a thorough investigation carried out on the directives of the state commissioner of Police, the statement said.

According to the statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, “these criminals are involved in multiple attacks on motorists along the highway, including the recent robbery of a Sienna Bus conveying passengers from Abuja to Yola, including one Hassan Kwaji, during which they attacked and robbed them of their handsets and other valuables.”

The statement listed items recovered from the suspects as two machetes, a knife, a handset, and a SIM card believed to have been used in commission of crimes.

The suspects will be charged to court to face the full consequences of their actions,” the Police assured.

Two persons have escaped death in a lone road crash which occurred at Gbongan, Osun State.

The accident, according to the Osun Sector Command on the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, occurred along the Babalakin, Gbongan on Tuesday around 2:35 pm.

A statement by the Osun Sector Commander, Inyang Umoh, issued by the spokesperson, Agnes Ogungbemi, said the accident involved a white coloured Toyota Hiace commercial bus with registration number BDG756YH.

Ogungbemi in the statement said the remote cause of the accident was speed limit violation and a burst tyre.

She also said 19 persons – 18 passengers and a driver – were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

She also disclosed that the injured had been taken to a health facility for medical attention.

“Two injured victims were taken to Adeoye Medical Centre Gbongan for treatment, and the crash vehicle handed over to NPF Gbongan.”

Meanwhile, the Sector Commander Corps Commander Inyang Edet Umoh warned the motoring public to drive carefully and maintain the normal speed specification.

Lecturers at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, have suspended their three weeks old industrial action.

The lecturers had on the 10th of May, 2024, embarked on the strike, following the failure of the management of the Polytechnic to domesticate the approved 35% and 25% salary increment for the staff of MAPOLY and ensure payment of a minimum of four (4) Semesters out of the six (6) outstanding Semesters Part-Time allowances.

They also demanded the immediate roll-out of APER forms of 2021/2022 for processing, immediate completion and release of 2020/2021 promotion letters and appointments, as well as immediate conclusion and release of the delayed Conversion, Upgrading and Regularization list.

Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics(ASUP), MAPOLY chapter, Adegunle Tomisi, on Tuesday, disclosed that the resumption followed the management readiness to address the various demands of the workers.

Tomisi, however, called for immediate payment of arrears of earned allowances on the 2020 staff promotions and immediate conclusion of the 2019/2020 appointment exercise of the institution.

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested four notorious kidnappers suspected to have partaken in several kidnappings in the northwest.

The operatives of the Command also recovered firearms including an AK47 rifle, a locally made pistol, and three cartridges.

ASP Mansir Hassan, the state command spokesman in a statement said, “On 29th May 2024, acting on a tip-off from a concerned citizen, a joint patrol team comprising officers from the Saminaka Division and the Hunters Group in Lere Local Government Area (LGA) successfully arrested three suspects involved in kidnapping and cattle rustling.”

He explained that the suspects are Isah Baffa Rabo, male, 30 years old, from Maibindiga Village, Lere LGA, implicated in kidnappings for ransom in Zango Kataf LGA and Kachia LGA, Ja’afaru Sale, male, 30 years old, from Durumi Village, Lere LGA and Umar Musa, male, 24 years old, from Durumi Village, Lere LGA.

He added that the suspects confessed to being part of a kidnapping syndicate in Lere LGA and admitted to stealing two cattle, which they sold to Idris Abubakar, a male, 47 years old, from Dokan Lere, who was also arrested.

According to the statement, “Recovered items include a locally made single-barrel gun, a cutlass, and three mobile phones. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.”

In the same vein, the statement said following credible intelligence information about the suspicious movement of an armed bandit, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tudun Wada Zaria Division led a swift action resulting in the arrest of one Hussaini, a male, 70 years old, from Tudunjukun in Zaria.

It said that the arrest took place at about 0250 hours. During the operation, an AK-47 rifle, a locally made pistol, and three cartridges were recovered from the suspect, saying that the suspect is helping the police in investigations to apprehend his accomplice and will be charged to court soon.

The Commissioner of Police, Ali Audu Dabigi, assured the public that the Kaduna State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and will continue to act decisively against criminal elements in the state.

A Senegalese court has jailed two men for “spreading false news” after they accused Ousmane Sonko, the country’s new prime minister, of tolerating homosexuality.

Activist Bah Diakhate and Imam Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Ndao were jailed for three months and fined 100,000 CFA francs ($165, £130) each.

They had been angered that Mr Sonko had allowed a visiting French politician to express his support for same-sex marriages.

Homosexual acts are banned in the mainly Muslim West African country and are punishable by up to five years in prison.

The political activist and the preacher were arrested two weeks ago after posting a video attacking Mr Sonko for giving a platform to Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a far-left French politician.

Mr Mélenchon gave his opinion about same-sex marriages at a student forum in the capital, Dakar, in mid-May.

His comments reportedly sparked boos from the audience at Cheikh Anta Diop University.

In response Mr Sonko said that Western countries should show restraint on social matters such as LGBTQ rights as it could “lead to anti-Western sentiment”.

Senegal would continue to manage issues around homosexuality in accordance with its socio-cultural norms, the prime minister said.

He was quoted as saying that homosexuality was “not accepted, but tolerated” in Senegal.

Mr Sonko, a former firebrand opposition leader, was appointed prime minister in April after his ally Bassirou Diomaye Faye was elected president.

They were freed from prison not long before the vote in an amnesty aimed at calming months of political turmoil after the outgoing president had tried to postpone the election.

The pair campaigned on a promise of radical change – with an Afrocentric and nationalist agenda, promising to reset Senegal’s relationship with France, the country’s former colonial power.

The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress have suspended their nationwide strike which entered one day on Monday. .

Disclosing this on Tuesday in Abuja after the union held a joint extraordinary national executive council meeting with the NLC, the TUC President Festus Osifo, said a communiqué to that effect would soon be issued.

Confirming the suspension of the industrial action to Channels Television, Mr Osifo said, “A joint NEC meeting of TUC/NLC has approved to relax the industrial action for one week with immediate effect.”

This latest development came after both unions signed an agreement with the Federal Government at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

The mass action by both unions was over the failure of the government to meet its demands for the increment in the minimum wage for workers and the reversal of the hike in electricity tariff.

The industrial action witnessed the shutdown of the national electricity grid, government offices, hospitals, airports, amongst others.

Two persons were confirmed dead when a tanker suspected to be carrying Liquefied Natural Gas exploded at the Obiri-Ikwerre flyover along the East-West on the outskirts of Port Harcourt in Rivers state.

Eyewitness accounts that the explosion occurred at about 9:25 am when the tanker upturned while trying to negotiate the bypass at the flyover and immediately went up in flames crushing a salon car with two occupants inside.

This came after a month when a fuel-laden tanker exploded along the Eleme axis of the East-West Road claiming about five lives and burnt over 60 cars.

In the latest incident, an eyewitness said two occupants of the car were trapped before they could escape and were roasted.

He stated, “My office is just close by here. It was a terrible sight. Two persons inside a salon car parked nearby were burnt beyond recognition.

“The tanker was trying to negotiate through the flyover when it fell and the explosion occurred.

The Obiri-Kwere flyover leads to the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa in the Ikwerre local government area of the state.

Another eyewitness who simply gave his name as Lucky said the sound of the explosion spread to residential areas near the flyover and caused panic.

He stated” It was about past 9 am that I was driving towards the University of Port Harcourt that I saw the flames.

“I quickly made a u-turn because I was driving. Many vehicles started making a detour to avoid the scene of the fire, somewhere even videoing the fire with their phones”.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and the casualty figure.

Iringe-Koko, stated, “Yes I can confirm that two persons died in the tanker fire. Myself and the Commissioner of Police are on the ground as I speak to you.

“The fire has been put out but the area is still dangerous because the gas is still licking.

“So motorists are advised to take alternative routes to avoid any further casualty. The investigation is ongoing. “

The Edo State Government on Monday said, no fewer than 150 persons have been lost to cult-related activities and homicide in the last five months in the state.

Governor Godwin Obaseki disclosed this to newsmen shortly after a closed-door meeting with security chiefs in Edo State, at Government House in Benin City.

Obaseki, however, announced the ban on the activities of Okaigheles (Youth Leaders) in Edo South Senatorial District of the State, as part of a renewed effort to tackle cultism in the State.

While noting that his government has declared a total war against cultism, he added that a special taskforce of the security council headed by the Director of the Department of State Security, DSS, that will from tonight review every cult related incident in the state has been set up.

According to him: “We have just finished the Security Council meeting where we reviewed the security situation in Edo State since January 2024 with particular emphasis on the security activities in Edo in May 2024.

“From the security management report which was considered in our security meeting, we still have a nagging issue in Edo State which is cultism. The incidence of cultism is very high.

“What is particularly worrisome about cultism is the related homicide that goes with cult-related activities. From January to date, we have lost over 150 people to cult-related activities and homicide. We can’t tolerate and accept this situation anymore.

“The Council today, amongst its decisions, has decided to go full blast against cultists and cultism in the state. We have now passed an anti-cultism law in Edo State and that law will be implemented to its fullest.

“We have set up a special task force of the security council headed by the Director of DSS that will from tonight review every cult related occurrence in the state. We will look at all the data, incidents, perpetrators, and those behind these activities, and will make all resources available and leave no stone unturned.”

The governor, who noted that related to cult activities are activities of Okaigeles in Edo South, disclosed that the council has prohibited forthwith the activities of Okaigeles in Edo State.

He threatened that anybody who claim to be an Okaigele in any community will be strictly dealt with in accordance with the law.

He added that the outcome of the security council meeting today was that the state government has declared full war on cultists and Okaigeles in Edo State.

In his remarks, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, reassured the governor that security agencies would implement the decision of the State Security Council without fear or favour.

Adegboye, who expressed happiness that the state has passed into law the anti-cultism bill, noted that cultists have had a field day in the state.

He posited that the anti-cultism law has a stiff penalty for anybody involved in the act.

“His Excellency has equally directed that no matter how highly placed any individual is, they will be taken to court and such a person will face the penalty.

“On the issue of the Okaigheles, we have been having problems with them as you can’t even separate them from cultism and the Council has agreed that they are banned.

“Anybody arrested will be prosecuted diligently. Council also agreed to have a taskforce headed by the Director of the DSS,” he added.

The Federal Government has agreed to pay more than the N60,000 it initially proposed as new minimum wage.

The decision was taken at a meeting the government had with labour leaders on Monday night in Abuja to address the dispute over the national minimum wage in response to the nationwide strike declared by the organised labour..

The meeting, held in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, on Monday evening aimed to resolve the impasse and bring an end to the industrial action that had paralysed various sectors across the country.

At the end of the meeting, it was resolved that, “The President of Nigeria, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, committed to establishing a National Minimum Wage higher than N60,000; and the Tripartite Committee will convene daily for the next week to finalise an agreeable National Minimum Wage.”

Other resolutions were; “In recognition of the President’s commitment, the organised labour would immediately hold meetings of its organs to consider this new offer; and no worker would face victimisation as a consequence of participating in the industrial action.”

These resolutions were signed on behalf of the Federal Government by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

Representing the organised labour were the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, and the President of the Trade Union Congress, Festus Osifo.

The NLC on Friday declared a nationwide indefinite strike starting at midnight on Sunday, June 2, 2024, due to the Federal Government’s refusal to increase the proposed minimum wage above N60,000.

Ajaero announced the strike following failed negotiations between the government and organised labour.

The Muslim Rights Concern has called on the Nigeria Labour Congress to postpone its ongoing strike until after the upcoming Eid al-Adha festival, warning that the industrial action could make life unbearable for Muslims preparing for the celebrations.

In a statement released on Monday, MURIC’s Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, expressed concerns that the strike’s impact on transportation, petroleum, and electricity sectors would severely disrupt Muslims’ plans for the Eid festivities, which are just days away.

“There is no scintilla of doubt that the strike will make life unbearable for Muslims preparing for Id al-kabiir (Salah) which is just a few days away,” the statement read.

It added, “Transport fare to and fro their various destinations will skyrocket. Movements will be so adversely affected that the whole Salah period will become a horrendous experience. Is that what NLC wants?”

MURIC criticised the NLC’s approach, labelling it as “aggressive, arrogant, fascist and partisan,” and accusing the labor union of showing no respect for the rule of law or democratic practices.

“If we cannot speak for government, what about Nigerian Muslims whose lives your strike could turn into sheer nightmare?” Is this a deliberate attempt to make life uncomfortable for Muslims? Will NLC declare strike one week to Christmas? Or is this about bringing down our Muslim-Muslim ticket? Is this part of the ‘religious war’ of ‘Yes Daddy’?” the statement questioned.

The group also questioned whether Muslim workers were adequately represented within the NLC leadership and advisory bodies, and whether their concerns were taken into account before the strike was declared.

“We advise NLC to postpone it till after the Salah. If NLC rejects our advice and goes ahead with its satanic strike, we will ask all Muslim workers who know that they will meet Allah yaom al-Qiyaamah (The Last Day) not to cooperate with NLC. They should reject the strike because it is an assault on the religion of Islam,” the statement urged.

“We say ‘No To Strike in Salah,’” the statement added.

Some youths of Asta community, a suburb of Makurdi early hours of Monday blocked the road that leads to Joseph Sawuan University of Agriculture, Makurdi, in Benue, to protest an attack by suspected herders.

The blockage of the road prevented the movement of particularly motorists.

A resident of the area who spoke to our correspondent said that the blockage was to vent their anger on the attack by suspected herdsmen on the community, which led to various degrees of injury sustained by people in the community.

The resident, who identified himself as Dave, said that the suspected herders invaded the community at about 1:00 am on Monday.

He said, “Early hours of today, at about 1,00am, some people suspected to be herders came to this community (Asta) and attacked people with machetes, knives, and dangerous weapons.

“About six people were taken to the hospital; some security operatives came to repel the attackers.

“Because of what happened, some youths came out this morning to block the road and vowed not to leave the road until the governor , Rev Fr Hycinth Alia comes to address them.

As of the time of filing this report, the youths have vacated the road.

The Special Adviser to the state governor on Internal security, Joseph Har, confirmed the incident but declined further comments.

Also, the state Command’s Spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed the attack on the community and stated that the injured victims are receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

“Unigric road incident confirmed. some persons were injured and are currently receiving treatment,” the PPRO said in a terse statement.

On Monday, organised labour shut the main gate of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration, FCDA, popularly known as the Minister’s Gate, preventing workers from gaining entrance into their offices.

The gate was shut by the union of the FCTA, the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) labour, the Joint Union, and the Action Committee (JUAC).

Workers were seen milling around the gate while labour leaders enforced compliance with the rule of “no entry, no going out.”

Speaking at the gate, the President of JUAC, Comrade Rifkatu Lortyer, vowed to continue the action until their demands are met.

Lortyer advised FCTA and FCDA workers to stay at home and obey the rules.

She said: “You know it is a long time struggle over the minimum wage and the electricity tariff that is just added to it. And till now, the government has reached a compromise. Since the national body NLC and TUC have declared strike, we have to enforce it.”

Former lawmaker, Senator Daniel Bwala, has criticised the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for embarking on a strike.

Bwala questioned why the NLC chose to strike on the day students across the country were expected to start writing examinations.

The former lawmaker said that the NLC was hurting the very families it claimed to be fighting for.

In a post on his X handle on Monday, Bwala alleged that the NLC was pursuing interests other than those of the workers.

He wrote: “@NLCHeadquarters Nigerian Labour Party Congress, you choose to go on strike on the day students across the country are expected to start writing examinations; thereby hurting the very families you claimed to be fighting for, Abi?

“You too well know also how much the federal government will be losing daily when you are on strike; and you expect the government to use blocks and pay your wage demand, Abi?

“Whilst I agree with the need to increase workers’ salaries to match inflation, I, however, condemn any conduct of Labour Party union leaders that will further increase the sufferings of their members and the Nigerian people.

“The day the workers’ eyes open to see whose interests the labour leaders are pursuing, that day workers would sing ‘Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty we are free at last.’”

The Labour Party (LP) in Nigeria has urged workers’ unions to re-negotiate with the government on a new minimum wage rather than embarking on industrial action.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Mr Obiora Ifoh, made the plea in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.

He was reacting to the strike declared nationwide by the organised labour over its demand for a new minimum wage .

Ifoh said that a strike was not an option because it would cause more hardship and suffering.

“Our immediate reaction is that the organised labour should not throw Nigerians into more hardship.

“Nigerians are already grappling with a lot of challenges and we do not need to exacerbate the situation.

“I think the demand for N494,000 minimum wage is unrealistic. It is really unrealistic.

“It is a figure that cannot be sustained because it will imply that Nigeria will take all that money it has to pay the civil servants,” Ifoh said.

Ifoh said that the labour union should continue to engage the federal government on a figure that would be acceptable to both parties.

“Negotiation should continue until they get something better.

“Asking Nigerian workers to stay at home will affect everything, including the cost of living and Nigerians cannot afford that now.

“Negotiation is not a one-off thing.

“If the federal government is not willing to go above N60,000 minimum wage, I think that the organised Labour should work with what is available while it continues to negotiate.

“We know this government has not gotten it right. It is still trying to test the waters,” the LP spokesman said.

He said that the party would not want any action that could further cause hardship.

The Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) locked the Secretariat entrance on Monday in compliance with the labour union’s indefinite industrial action.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) had, on May 31, directed their members to embark on an indefinite strike starting from June 3.

According to the unions, the action was in response to the Federal Government’s failure to increase the proposed N60,000 minimum wage for workers and its refusal to reverse the recent increase in electricity tariffs.

The President of JUAC, Mrs Rifkatu Lortyer, told NAN in Abuja that the committee’s decision to deny workers access to the Secretariat was in compliance with the NLC and TUC directives.

Lortyer explained that JUAC, being part of the labour unions, had no choice but to fully enforce the strike.

“My advice to FCTA workers is simple: stay at home and be the obedient workers you’ve always been. The strike action is in the interest of Nigerian workers,” she said.

During the May Day celebration, the labour unions issued an ultimatum to the Federal Government to conclude negotiations on a new national minimum wage by May 31.

The TUC President, Festus Osifo, told newsmen that the strike had become necessary because the government declined to increase the proposed N60,000 wage during the meeting of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage held on Friday.

Osifo also said that the strike was imperative due to the government’s refusal to reverse the hike in electricity tariffs.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has joined the ongoing strike embarked up from Monday, by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC.

Organized labour have begun the industrial action, after the federal government’s failure to meet the unions’ minimum wage demand.

In a statement addressed to the branch chairpersons and zonal coordinators of ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke, has directed lecturers in universities across the country to join the strike as an affiliate of the congress.

“The NLC has declared an indefinite strike action beginning from Monday, June 3, 2024, as a result of the failure of the government to conclude the renegotiation of minimum wage for Nigerian workers and reversal of hike in electricity tariff.

“Our branches are hereby enjoined to join in the strike action as an affiliate member of Congress.

“Consequently, branch chairpersons are to mobilise all members to participate in the strike action. Yours in the struggle,” it read.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has confirmed that three persons died in a multiple accident on Sunday in Oba in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra, along Owerri-Oraifite-Onitsha road.

The FRSC Sector Commander in Anambra, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, informed journalists in Onitsha that the multiple accident involved eight vehicles.

Irelewuyi explained that it involved a commercial motorcycle with no registration number, three yellow tricycles with no registration number, two toyota Hiace commercial buses with no registration number.

He said that other vehicles involved in the accident were a white Mack trailer with no registration number, a navy blue Toyota Camry with no registration number.

The commander attributed the probable cause of the fatal crash to a loss of control as a result of break failure.

According to him, an eyewitness said that tax collectors were stopping tricycles collecting taxes when the driver of the Mack truck had a brake failure, lost control, and rammed into the other vehicles.

“15 people were involved in the crash, five persons injured- three male and two female adults.

“Three persons were killed- two male, one female child and seven people were rescued unhurt.

“Passersby took casualties to the hospital before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team from RS5.36 Oraifite Unit Command Anambra,” he said.

The sector commander added that the scene was tense as hoodlums and an angry mob came with machetes protesting towards the revenue collectors for causing the crash.

Irelewuyi sympathised with the families of the dead victims and wished the injured victims quick recovery.

He further warned motorists to desist from disobeying traffic rules and regulations by servicing their vehicles to minimum safety standard before plying the road.

Niger State-born popular Islamic cleric Abdullateef Aliyu Maiyaki, popularly known as Mufti Yaks is dead.

He died at the age of 20.

According to reports, Mufti Yaks who is also a well-known motivational speaker died early hours of today, Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the National Hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.

Renowned cleric and Islamic scholar, Mufti Ismail Ibn Menk revealed this Vis his Facebook page on Saturday.

Menk, the Zimbabwean Islamic speaker who is said to be the role model of the late Mufti Yaks paid his last respects praying that God should grant him eternal rest.

It read, “I’m saddened by the news of the death of the young Abdul Latif Miyaki Mufti Yaks this morning.

“He was a very talented young lad trying to spread goodness. May Allah Almighty forgive him, accept his good deeds and grant him the highest ranks of Paradise. Ameen.”

Also, Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami confirmed the development on his Facebook page.

He expressed his sadness over the demise of the cleric, who he described as his son.

He said; “Inna lil Laahi wa inna ilaiHi Raajiun! Just heard that our beloved son, Abdullateef Aliyu Maitaki, popularly known as MUFTI YAKS passed away. What a great loss! Janaza by 10 am at Justice Maiyaki’s residence Dutsen Kura Gwari, Minnah. May the Almighty Allah admit him into Jannatul Firdaus”.

Born in 2004, the late Mufti Yaks as a motivational speaker was known for promoting peace through his teaching. His efforts and contributions were said to have touched many lives and left a lasting impact.

He tries to explain and make people understand the problems of communities and different societies across the globe and how those problems can be solved”.

“He is very passionate about kids and children who find themselves in homes where there is no love and good family relationship. He was granted an award for being an exemplary inspirational speaker”.

The late Controller of Nigerian Correctional Service, Kwara State command, Adeyinka Adebayo Oyun, has been laid to rest in his country home, Ipee, in Oyun Local Government Area of the state.

The late Controller died on Saturday, May 25, 2024, and was finally committed to mother earth on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

The official interment was accompanied by a body of parade and 21 gun salute by the officers and men of the service in his honour.

In attendance at the occasion were dignitaries across the country, among whom were the representative of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, the Deputy Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly, Olayiwola Oyebode Ojo, the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Ayodele Abiodun Adebara, Controller General of Nigerian Correctional Service, represented by Deputy Controller General of Corrections, Akinrujomu Tosin, Heads of various Armed Forces and Paramilitary Agencies within and outside the state.
