Falz blast Lagos state government.

As the end sars protests had been peaceful until recently , hoodlums have taken over the protest. They has been alot of violence and killings.

According to Falz, the hoodlums are suspected to be sponsored by some unscrupulous people in government. This however led to the 24hour curfew that was imposed by the Lagos state government , starting from today.

However, the talented singer and rapper has said that the peaceful protect will definitely continue once the curfew is over.

Watch the video below to listen to what Falz said concerning the recent development.

Curfew will trigger more protests, Lagos PDP tells Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has faulted the declaration of curfew in the state.

The spokesman for the Lagos PDP, Gani Taofeeq, in a statement on Tuesday, warned that curfew will trigger more protests in the state.

The statement was titled, ‘Curfew declaration: confrontational, ill-advised’.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, earlier announced a 24-hour curfew in the state to curb violence arising from protests against police brutality and bad governance in the country.

The statement noted that “the PDP opines that the decision is confrontational, ill-advised and capable of inflaming the already compressed ‘beast’ in the peaceful demonstrators against Police brutality and other government induced vices in the state.

“The governor must consequently take responsibility for any degeneration into maiming, killing, and oppressive arrest.

“The governor has again showed that “he acts copy and paste in governance, otherwise, the peculiarities of ancillary issues of agitations in the state are such that the governor only needs to act immediately rather than declaring curfew apparently because one or two governors did same.”

“The governor should simply have gone ahead to announce welfare supports for the Police command officers; declare the account of the LSSTF; stop toll collections in the state; announce at least 50 per cent tuition fees reduction in all state government schools; scrap or reduce by at least 50 per cent charges of Alpha Beta; discount by at least 40 per cent Lagos housing; reduce by at least 50 per cent cost of all state-owned transportation within the state; reduction of his emoluments and that of the House members to mention a few.

“if governor Sanwo-Olu does these in 48 hours, these protesters will calm down.”

#EndSARS: IG Orders Nationwide Deployment of Anti-Riot Police

Following the #EndSARS protests spreading across the country, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered immediate nationwide deployment of anti-riot police unit, the Police Mobile Force (PMF) , to protect lives and property of all Nigerians and secure critical national infrastructure across the country.

The IGP has also ordered massive deployment of Police operatives to strengthen security around Correctional facilities nationwide.

A statement issued by Force PRO and Deputy Commisioner of Police (DCP), Frank Mba, said the order was coming on the heels of increasing attacks, including acts of arson and malicious damage to public and private facilities as recorded in some States of the Federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The statement said the Commissioners of Police in the 36 States of the Federation and the FCT were “to identify and isolate law-breakers from peaceful protesters; immediately arrest and diligently prosecute such perpetrators of violence in their respective Commands”.

The IG said 12 suspects were arrested in connection with the attacks and arson on Police Stations in Benin, Edo State while five AK47 rifles earlier stolen from vandalised police stations were recovered.

Akeredolu plotting to forge my signature, Deputy alleges

Ondo Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, has raised the alarm over a plot by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to forge his signature on a prepared resignation letter.

Ajayi said he has no plans to resign from office.

Some close associates of Ajayi had hinted last weekend he was being pressured to honorably resign from office.

Ajayi, who spoke through his Media Adviser, Allen Sowore, said he was elected alongside Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and the four- year mandate will not end until 23rd February 2021.

He stated news about his impending resignation was sponsored by Akeredolu as a subterfuge in preparation for a macabre plan to forge his signature.

The Ondo Deputy Governor urged the general public to be wary of the latest antics and desperation of Governor Akeredolu to remove him by all means and at any cost illegally.

According to him: “The people of Ondo State, who voted for Agboola Ajayi as Deputy Governor in 2016 have not ask him to resign or quit the government.

“Therefore, he has no reason whatsoever to relinquish the people’s mandate, which of course is limited by term/time, democratically bestowed upon him.”

But Akeredolu, who reacted through his Special Assistant New Media, Richard Olatunde, said the signature of Ajayi was too insignificant to be forged.

He said he would rather deepen concern as regards efforts to confront the current national issue of youth protests.

“All the same, one does not accept anything less from a thoroughly beaten and politically minimized egocentric being.

“This is not the first time he would unveil untruths not only about others but about himself too. Forgery cannot, and has never been part of this Government.

“Those whose identities are shrouded in such are already a distance away from the Government led by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN. They know themselves.

“His signature is too insignificant now, and even beyond today, to be forged. It’s not in the character of Mr. Governor or anyone in the Government he heads.”

The Senate is currently in an emergency closed session over the ongoing #endsars protest nationwide.

The Senate is currently holding an emergency closed session apparently to appraise the current #EndSARS protests rocking various parts of the country.

No sooner had the senators resumed for the day’s plenary around 10:55am on Tuesday…the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, called for an emergency session.

Apart from the issue of #EndSARS protests which the senators are discussing, our correspondent learnt that the issue of the confirmation of Aisha Dahir-Umar, as the substantive Director General of the National Pension Commission.

The Committee on Establishment and Public Service led by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, had last  Thursday screened and cleared Dahir-Umar and other nominees for the board of PenCom.

Aggrieved senators who are spearheading the campaign against the confirmation of Dahir-Umar, are said to be poised for a showdown at today’s plenary, which obviously necessitated part of the reasons for the closed session.

Lagos state governor has imposed a 24hour curfew.

The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has imposed a 24hour curfew on all parts of Lagos state. He made this known via his Twitter account earlier today. Below are the his statements;

Dear Lagosians,

I have watched with shock how what began as a peaceful #EndSARS protest has degenerated into a monster that is threatening the well-being of our society. Lives and limbs have been lost as criminals and miscreants are now hiding under the umbrella

… of these protests to unleash mayhem on our state. As a government that is alive to its responsibility and has shown a commitment to the movement #ENDSARS, we will not watch and allow anarchy in our dear state.

I, therefore, hereby impose a 24-hour curfew on all parts of the State as from 4pm today, 20th October,2020. Nobody, except essential service providers and first responders must be found on the streets.

Northern Group Suspends Protests over Insecurity

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has suspended its #EndInsecurityNow protest across northern states.

In a statement issued yesterday, the spokesman of the group, Abdulhazeez Suleiman, said the CNG was disturbed.

By the happenings across the country, especially the “raiding of Benin Central Prison, Edo State, leading to the escape of inmates all in the name of #EndSARS protest.”

The statement said while the coalition has no quarrel with people expressing their grievances by holding peaceful protest, “we, however, find it disturbing that protests want to degenerate into lawlessness and brigandage.

“Consequent upon this, the CNG categorically states that it will neither associate with, or identify with, nor recognise any movement by any persons, groups or from whichever section or class in the country that portends greater danger to the country or tends to tilt towards anarchy.”

It stated further that: “In this light, we condemn with all our might, the actions of those who perpetrate criminal acts in the guise of protests anywhere in Nigeria, and strongly denounce those who instigate others to commit acts of violence and lawlessness under whatever pretext.

“We thus emphatically repudiate the reported raid of the Benin prison facility, and deem any further act of brigandage on the public and public assets not only immoral and illegal but also condemnable and abhorrent to the country’s sensibilities and ordinary decency.”

Suleiman said: “The CNG hereby impresses on all its formations on the #EndInsecurityNow protests across the 19 northern states to desist from identifying with the protests, and shun any act that may further cause additional instability in the region and potentially affects the general peace of the country.

“We urge them to remain decent, orderly and civilized as they peacefully press for action to end the bleeding in the North without molesting or oppressing fellow citizens and provoking public disorder.

“The #EndInsecurityNow protests in the northern states must not be seen to cause public fear through traffic disruptions, rampage on private and public assets or involved with provocative utterances, altercations and other forms of indecent conduct.

“With this development, the CNG hereby directs all its state chapters to immediately stay further action and suspend all protests forthwith effectively from October 20, 2020.”

Obasanjo tells Buhari how to react to #EndSARS protests

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has advised that President Muhammadu Buhari should use the endSARS protest as an opportunity to let Nigerian youths know that he understood their plights as a father.

The former leader noted that the EndSARS protest, still ongoing in many states of the federation, was a product of frustration and urged the government to address the demands of the youths.

He spoke on Monday when the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi hosted him in his palace at the ancient city.

Obasanjo said, “More than 65 percent of our population are between the ages of 18 and 30. They are not only struggling to acquire education, they are also aspiring for the best that life can offer them.

“Some of them didn’t even get educated while those who are educated are getting frustrated because of lack of opportunities. We must realize that the lid on the boiling steam would have to be removed.

“But, I believe that there are windows of opportunity which the government can explore to show that it cares about the people’s welfare, especially the youths, as the father of the country and particularly, as the father of the youth.

“Fortunately, the president has children and he knows how youths behave. I believe that the opportunities can still be taken to let the youths know that he, as a father, understands their plight and his government understands their plight and he is ready to make life better for them.”

The Ooni, also speaking, appealed to the EndSARS protesters to retreat and give peace a chance, adding that their action was a clear message to the government.

The Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello has volunteered to lead #EndSARS protest.

The Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello has volunteered to lead #EndSARS protesters, pledging to participate and march alongside them.

Bello, in a televised broadcast, stated that he was willing to represent the group and help negotiate with the federal government on its demands.

The Governor’s comments are coming amidst calls for the protesters to have a leadership or some form of representation.

Speaking on AIT, he said; “I Volunteer to be the leader that will push down all of their demands and make sure it is met.”

Mr Bello disclosed that he will be matching with youths from Kogi State to Abuja to meet with president on the 24th of Oct. He called on other governors to work hard and ensure that law and order in maintained in their respective states.

FG begins N75bn support fund disbursement this week.

Beginning from this week, the Federal Government will start paying grants to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises that are successful to partake in the N75bn COVID-19 support schemes.

On September 10, 2020, the Federal Government inaugurated two schemes to financially support about 1.7 million MSMEs across the country with N75bn.

The schemes are the National MSME Survival Fund and the Guaranteed Off-take Stimulus Schemes under the Nigeria Economic Sustainability Plan.
The Special Assistant to the President on MSMEs, Office of the Vice President, who doubles as Project Coordinator, Survival Funds Scheme, Tola Adekunle, told journalists in Abuja on Monday that payments to some beneficiaries of schemes would start this week.

He said, “Presently we are doing it in batches of 12 states to be able to monitor the scheme and as we speak now 12 states are ready. We are hoping that by the end of this week, we will be able to pay 12 states.

EndSARS protest is one of the most successful protest in Nigeria – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Monday described the protest against police brutality as one of the most successful movement in Nigeria.

He noted that after the #EndSARS protest , Nigerians will experience a better country where fundamental human rights will be respected.

Mohammed stated this while speaking at a Special NAN Forum on Monday in Abuja.

He noted that the Federal Government would be able to act if the protesters end the protest and allow Government attend to their demands

The Minister regretted that the protest has been hijacked by hoodlums and people with a selfish motive to destabilise the country.

He said the government had started the process of unprecedented reform of the police and the entire internal security structure following the #EndSARS protest.

“With every challenge, there is always an opportunity and the opportunity this protest has given us is to look at a more holistic approach to reforming our internal security.”

“For the first time in the history of this country, a special police tactical unit is being formed which will be supervised not by a Police Command but a committee to be chaired by the governor of each state with representatives of youths and Civil Society Organisations.”

“The committee chaired by the governor will have the responsibility to supervise the way the special security unit relate to the public and carry out its responsibilities.”

“The panel being put up will take complaints from the public with regards to human rights abuses; this has never happened in the history of this country,’’ he said.

Mohammed added that this is the first time that a government is setting up a Victim Support Fund to compensate victims of Police brutality and extrajudicial killings in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“In line with the new Police Act, officers to be enlisted in the new tactical Police unit will be tested psychologically and mentally to be sure that they are fit for the operations.”

“This will put a big check on Police abuse and extrajudicial killing which we have witnessed over the decades,’’ he said.

Pro-Buhari group seeks police protection for 10 million-man march.

A group, ‘I stand With Buhari’, has informed the police in Abuja of its plan to hold a 10 million-man march in support of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

The Convener of the group, Ogochukwu Ezeaku, said this.He was positive that they would get a favourable response from the police. He said the march would take place at the Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday. Ezeaku said, “We have informed the police and I am sure there will be no problem.”

When asked if there would be no clash with #EndSARS protesters, Ezeaku said,
“We know the End SARS people to be peaceful. Besides, our protest will take place in one spot which is the Unity Fountain.”
The convener said the march was conceived to show the President that the majority of Nigerians were still with him.
In a separate message on Facebook, the group stated that they would support the #EndSARS movement as long as it focuses on police excesses. It said the moment the protesters called for Buhari’s resignation, they would also launch a counter-offensive.

Many Buharists support #EndSARS but the moment you change the protest to any other silly hashtag you will know that we are 15 million strong!” it said.

Websites will continue to go down and leaks will continue to pour- International hacker group, Anonymous.

The international hacker group , Anonymous yesterday released the following statements concerning the End Sars protest by Nigerian youths via their twitter account.

“We don’t know who started the 72-hour ultimatum rumor nor why it is credited to our account. Either way, the Nigerian government has been blindly running in circles all night chasing its own tail.”

Anonymous will not abandon the #EndSARS movement as it grows stronger by the day.

“The money that will be wasted on Operation Crocodile Smile VI is better suited to pay the victims of SARS and the brave protestors hurt by old corrupt men clinging to power. @HQNigerianArmy quit embarrassing yourselves. #EndSARS.”

“There is nothing to expose when your leaders are openly parasites that cling to power to siphon national wealth. Corruption and impunity will not end by hacking websites or bank theft, it’ll end through resistance and innovation in the streets. The world is with you. #EndSARS”

“Websites will continue to go down and leaks will continue to pour, the Nigerian government falls short in cyberspace. They don’t fear ‘Anonymous’ they fear the youth and overall they fear a united Nigeria that exists in the streets and beyond hashtags. That’s the power. #EndSARS”

ROAD CONDITION IN NIGERIA, THE ROAD TO THE AFTERMATH OF A MISMANAGED NUCLEAR STATION!

The cases of accidents in our country is mostly caused by the very pitiable condition of our roads aside of the negligence of drivers. The impact of bad roads aside of major and minor accidents is the cost of maintaining vehicles. If the car radiator doesn’t leak, the tyres will get punched or the drive shaft is dislocated.

During the course of my trip , I saw fully loaded trailers coming from various parts of the country , struggling to move along both sides of a narrow road. As a result of this , the road was clumsy and highly risky to ply. Then I thought ,” how do drivers travel through this road on a regular basis ? Is this risk worth taking ? , however they have to survive”. The road wasn’t only narrow but void of illumination at night, this is pathetic!

Technology students and graduates keep studying about how to design pedestrian solar powered street lights and yet this project has not been explored to the level of which it is needed in this country. Unfortunately , we still travel in the dark. It was an hopeless situation when an elderly woman exclaimed in a bitter tone saying the road has been in its terrible condition for over 20 years!

I know the problems faced by Nigeria can be really complex but my question is , are we progressing at all? If we are progressing as a nation , then in no time , the drops of progress will make an ocean of progress. However, it seems like while a few are trying to make things work , majority are ruining things.

The situation Nigeria is struggling with can be illustrated using the atomic reactor as an example. The atomic reactor needs small gram of fuel to generate a large magnitude of electricity . However , depending on how the nuclear power station is properly managed , there is a tendency to either cause havoc to the environment and its inhabitants or keep them save. This seems like what is happening in Nigeria… the very small gram of fuel is the directive given by the few good people in governance while the havoc caused to the environment and its inhabitant is as a result of negligence through the misuse of power , misappropriation of funds and other measures of corrupt activities performed by the bad people in governance and majority of their subordinates. As it is now, the road conditon in Nigeria is likely to be the road to the aftermath of a mismanaged nuclear station.

We are all guilty for either taking part in the abnormalities or keeping quiet. Government encompasses those in power , the subordinates and every single citizen. Are we upholding the law or not ? Are we working for the system or against it ? Do we submit tenders and construct low quality roads after getting the job? Do we give projects to contractors and exploit them? The point is for serious change to happen , we all have to be serious about making it happen!

WE NEED A REVOLUTION.

We are Africans, our forefathers suffered greatly under the authority of the colonial masters. They fought for our independence and got it by sacrificing their existence. As Africans, we have one thing in common which is the history of our struggle throughout the years of slavery.

We are Africans but some choose to be outcast. Africans attacking one another and segregating against nationalities is not the best option. Over the years, we have learnt about the struggles of the nation, South Africa. We grew up to respect Nelson Mandela and loved him for the good values he preached. Late Nelson Mandela must be very dissapointed to see the same people whose freedom he suffered for, now attacking Nigerians and other Africans, forgetting the support rendered to them during their years of apartheid. We ought to say no to xenophobia and see one another as a race, the African race!

People ran for their lives from the northern parts of Nigeria because of the insurgency. Even in South Africa , Nigerians who are there to seek greener pastures also got attacked . When will this end? Is our government still sleeping? When will Nigeria get better? We need to fix Nigeria!

War outside, war inside…when exactly are we going to enjoy steady peace in Nigeria? We need a reliable structure , a system which will enable Nigerians to thrive. We can’t always take our ideas abroad and get punished for it just like the recent killings of Nigerians in South Africa. We definitely need a revolution, this is the solution. Nigeria has to be better, this is the greatest assurance we can have as citizens.

It can be recalled from history that Nigerians had been of great help to South Africans during their years of apartheid. As written and cited by ANA-CAJ , apartheid is one dark era in the history of South Africa. Nigeria was the first country to provide direct financial aid to the now ruling African National Congress ( ANC) from the 1960s while in the 1970s, Nigeria supported the ANC and Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) with an annual contribution of $5 million to help them in the struggle.

Nigeria set up a program to cater specifically for the South Africans’ educational needs and general welfare through the Southern African Relief Fund (SAFR) under the administration of General Olusegun Obasanjo , who contributed $3.7 million. Nigerian’s civil servants were also made to give 2 percent of their income to the fund, then known as “Mandela tax”. According to SAFR , 86 South African students were educated in Nigeria for free. How then could South Africans forget all these and settle for violence?

Nigerians attacking Nigerians, South African attacking Nigerians, Africans attacking one another…when will there be an end to this violence? Our leaders are sitting in their offices while the citizens are busy killing one another. How long will it take before we snap out of this mental slavery? When will we become wise and realise that violence is never the solution? The solution we ought to seek is a revolution . Remember that quote stated by Mahatama Ghandi, “An eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind”.

We start a nationwide protest on Tuesday. – Varsity students

University students under the aegis of the National Association of University Students said they had run out of patience as a result of the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The students said they would express their displeasure with the lingering strike by embarking on a nationwide protest starting from Tuesday. They said their first point of protest would be at the National Assembly Complex, followed by the Office of the Ministry of Education, and thereafter that of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

In a letter dated October 13, 2020 by the Senate of NAUS, a body comprising the presidents of the Students’ Union Government of various universities, the association said students had stayed “for too long” at home and therefore demanded an immediate end to the strike.

The letter was co-signed by the Senate President of NAUS, Ibrahim Lawal; Deputy Senate President, Asiwaju Ajibowu; and the Clerk, Gbande Abraham.

Speaking with our correspondent on the upcoming protest, Lawal said it was because the government failed to respond to a letter NAUS wrote to enquire what efforts were being made to end the prolonged strike.

He said, “We are inviting all students to come out and protest because we have overstayed at home, and education is important. In August, we wrote a letter to the Minister of Education [Mallam Adamu Adamu] on the reopening of schools. We asked what efforts were in place to end the ASUU strike. But the minister has not responded to our letter for over two months. We have been patient enough to hear from the minister and he has refused to respond. We are tired.

#EndSARS: Thugs Attack Osun Gov

Governor of Osun State, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, narrowly escaped on Saturday as he was attacked by armed thugs while addressing the #EndSARS protest in Osogbo.

Armed with cutlasses and sticks the hoodlums swooped on the governor at Olaiya junction, while he was addressing the #EndSARS protesters in the state capital. The governor was immediately ferried away from the scene by his security details.

Vehicles in the governor’s convoy were also attacked and damaged as the hoodlums threw stones at the convoy.

Governor Oyetola had joined protesters in the walk from Alekuwodo area to Olaiya junction in the state capital, singing with them and promising them that their demands will be looked into.

Oyetola also assured the protesters that he supported their peaceful agitations, which he said was part of democratic process.

However, while still addressing the youths, hoodlums swooped on the gathering.

Save the people, Buhari’s wife tweets

The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari,  has called on her husband, Muhammadu Buhari, and service chiefs to “save the people”.

Mrs Buhari tweeted a video of her husband Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in a meeting with service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, accompanied with the Hausa word, #Achechijamaa, which means “save the people”.

A Hausa song calling on the President to save the North was also playing in the background.

The song loosely translates as “Please look at our condition. We need your help. The North is crying. There is insincerity. Our blood is being spilled. Our property is being destroyed. Intervene in our situation, baba.”

Thousands of Nigerians, mostly youths, have been protesting across major cities in the country demanding an end to police brutality and killings.

Some northern elements have also begun a protest calling on an end to banditry and insecurity across Nigeria.

FG should begin police reform to end protests

A former lawmaker, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, has urged the Federal Government to begin the process of police reform to douse the ongoing nationwide protests against police brutality by Nigerian youths.

Ohuabunwa, who represented Abia North in the Eighth Senate, made the call in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Umuahia on Saturday.

He said that police reform would help restore public confidence in the police force.

Ohuabunwa also advised the Federal Government to enter into serious negotiation with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in order to find a lasting solution to the seven-month-old industrial dispute by the union.

He feared that the two knotty issues could snowball into a monstrous national crisis, if not properly addressed.

He said: “Government should act fast and responsibly to end the agitations. It should take cogent steps to yield to the yearnings of the protesters.

“It is a bad omen for any government to allow aggrieved youths to continue to protest on the streets for days.

“Recall that the Arab Spring, which brought down autocratic regimes in some Arab nations, began this way with aggrieved youths.”

Ohuabunwa described the #EndSARS protests as a spontaneous response to police brutality, which had lingered for many years unchecked.

He expressed concern that there was a nexus between the EndSARS protests and the ASUU strike, saying that idle undergraduates remained ready and willing tools for anti-government protests.

Ohuabunwa noted that resolving the Federal Government-ASUU impasse would help to take the youths off the streets and back to classrooms.

He said that the lingering ASUU strike would have a negative impact on the nation’s education sector and the future of the youths.

“The Federal Government should address ASUU’s demands because lecturers are making a tremendous contribution to nation-building,” Ohuabunwa said.

He warned anti-riot police personnel against the use of force in dealing with protesters, saying that “citizens have the right to peaceful protest as guaranteed in the constitution”.

Ohuabunwa, who is a proponent of restructuring Nigeria, added that the current agitation by the nation’s youths underscored the need for the Federal Government to commence the nation’s restructuring without further delay.

According to him, the current developments in the country have heightened the agitation for the restructuring of Nigeria.
