Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of this season, with the announcement made as early as February.

New co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS colleagues are believed to be weighing up Ten Hag’s future and assessing replacement candidates.

Tuchel, who has previously coached Chelsea in the Premier League, is one of the names being linked with the job.

However, according to the Times, there are concern about the German’s history of clashing with his superiors at previous clubs.

Tuchel’s five-year spell with Mainz came to an end in 2014 following a dispute with directors over transfer funds, while he was fired by Borussia Dortmund three years later after a breakdown of trust between himself and the club’s board.

Mbappe leads PSG’s 4-1 victory over relegation-haunted Lorient

Kylian Mbappe turned on the style as Paris St Germain eased to within touching distance of a third successive Ligue 1 title with a 4-1 victory at relegation-haunted Lorient.

The 25-year-old scored twice and also set up Ousmane Dembele for the second of his two goals with a touch of genius to maintain the Champions League semi-finalists’ 11-point advantage over second-placed Monaco.

PSG can claim a sixth crown in seven years against Le Havre on Saturday.

Luis Enrique’s men are now unbeaten in 25 league games dating back to September 15 while Lorient, who pulled one back through substitute Mohamed Bamba amid a late flurry, are three points from safety.

With Mbappe starting in one of nine changes to the side which lined up for Sunday’s 4-1 home win over Lyon, PSG began in a patient mood with the hosts enjoying a fair share of possession and mustering the first attempt on goal, a wayward seventh-minute strike from Gedeon Kalulu.

Indeed, they should have taken the lead with 12 minutes gone when Kalulu played the ball into the path of Imran Louza, whose cut-back was steered wastefully wide by Ayman Kari.

However, Lorient keeper Yvon Mvogo had to get down well to palm away Mbappe’s curling 17th-minute effort, but was helpless to prevent the visitors from taking the lead two minutes later.

Senny Mayulu won possession on halfway and slipped the ball into Dembele’s run before watching him cut inside Isaak Toure and Julien Laporte and place the ball inside the stranded Mvogo’s right post.

It was 2-0 within three minutes after Mbappe picked out Nuno Mendes on the left and then made his way into the box, where he dispatched the return pass just inside the other upright with an outrageous flick.

Louza dragged a long-range effort wide and Gianluigi Donnarumma had to make a stunning save to keep out Tiemoue Bakayoko’s downward header from a Louza corner, but Dembele curled a 42nd-minute corner onto the roof of Mvogo’s net as the Parisians finished the first half strongly.

The hosts returned determined to remain compact in an attempt to frustrate the visitors and, as a result, initially found themselves camped deep inside their own half with Fabian Ruiz dictating play from the middle of the field.

However, the game was rather meandering towards the hour-mark when Mbappe produced another piece of magic, holding off defender Nathaniel Adjei before poking the ball through his legs and then crossing for Dembele to tap home.

Bamba’s bullet header from fellow substitute Benjamin Mendy’s cross seconds later reduced the deficit and Donnarumma had to block Panos Katseris’ late effort with his foot, but Mbappe wrapped up the win at the death, cutting in from the left to shoot past Mvogo.

Dele Alli slams Chelsea duo, call them selfish players

Former Tottenham Hotspur star, Dele Alli described Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke as ‘selfish’ players after they had an on-pitch argument during Chelsea’s Premier League 6-0 win over Everton on Monday.

Recall that four goals from Cole Palmer and a goal each from Jackson and Alfie Gilchrist gave Mauricio Pochettino’s side all three points against Everton at Stamford Bridge.

But Chelsea’s emphatic victory was somewhat overshadowed by a bizarre argument between Jackson and Madueke after the Blues were awarded a penalty in the second half.

Both players argued over who should take the spot-kick and they refused to back down even when Chelsea captain, Conor Gallagher grabbed the ball and gave it to designated penalty-taker, Palmer.

Speaking on the development on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Alli criticized Jackson and Madueke for not coming out in the last minute against Manchester United when Chelsea was awarded a penalty which Palmer scored when the pressure was on.

“I think Pochettino will be really disappointed about it,” Alli said.

“The big thing about him is he cares so much about players as people as well and for them [Jackson and Madueke] to do that is kind of selfish.

“They want to get on the scoresheet – it’s good that players want to score – but do it during the game. If you are not the taker then just step away from the ball.”

He added, “I didn’t see them doing it in the last minute against Manchester United when the pressure was on.

“It’s clear that Mauricio isn’t happy about it. They are young players so they will learn from it.”

Ian Wright criticises Arsenal forward after 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa

Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has accused Gabriel Martinelli of “switching off” during the 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

The Gunners’ Premier League title hopes were hit on Sunday, as goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins sealed the win for Unai Emery’s men.

Arsenal were hoping to return to the top of the table following Liverpool’s shock defeat to Crystal Palace earlier in the day.

But they slipped up themselves in a huge boost to defending champions Manchester City.

With six fixtures left, Pep Guardiola’s side find themselves two points above Arsenal and Liverpool, who are only separated on goal difference.

Analysing Arsenal’s defeat for Premier League Productions, Wright criticised Martinelli’s lack of awareness in the build-up to the opening goal.

The Brazilian forward replaced Leandro Trossard in the second half, but allowed Bailey to roam free at the back post and tuck in Lucas Digne’s cross.

He said: “Look at Martinelli, this is what we’ve been saying because Arsenal have been so good defensively this season.

“Everyone has been switched on but in this instance, he switches off. Bailey is his man, that’s his man in this situation. He has to get closer to him, it’s as simple as that.”
