British High Commissioner celebrates first African to win sword of honour from UK Royal Air Force

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, has celebrated the first African Cadet to win the International Cadet Sword of Honour from the Royal Air Force College Cranwell, United Kingdom, David Sangokoya.

This was disclosed in a statement and pictures shared on X.com by the British High Commission in Nigeria on Thursday.

The statement read, “HC #RMontgomeryUK was pleased to meet Flying Officer Sangokoya David, first African Cadet to win the International Cadet Sword of Honour from UK’s #RoyalAirForce, Cranwell.

“He congratulated him on making history, heard his experience, and reflected on our relationship.”

Sangokoya attended the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training Course 22 as a cadet from March to September 2023, where he emerged as the Best International Cadet on the course.

The prestigious award was presented to him by Prince of Wales, William Arthur, on behalf of King Charles III at the Royal Graduation on 12 September 2024.
