Alex Iwobi scores in Fulham’s crushing defeat to Wolves

Alex Iwobi scored a goal of the highest quality as Fulham suffered a crushing 4-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Craven Cottage on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Iwobi curled a spectacular left-footed shot into the top far corner to hand Fulham the lead in the 220th minute of the encounter.

It was the Super Eagles midfielder’s third Premier League goal of the season and his 25th in the competition.

However, Wolves fought back progressively through a Matheus Cunha brace and further strikes from João Gomes and Gonçalo Guedes to secure only their second win of the campaign.

The hosts deservedly took the lead with a chance born from Wolves errors. Rayan Ait-Nouri gave the ball away needlessly in his own half and after a cross was missed by Jimenez. Gomes then gave the ball away to allow Iwobi to curl it into the far corner from the edge of the box.

Cunha’s assist for Joao Gomes shortly after half-time put the visitors ahead and Wolves then managed the occasion well to keep Fulham at bay.

Brazilian star Cunha was then assisted by Gomes with an effortless curl into the top corner to make it 3-1 and send the away fans into raptures.

Goncalo Guedes added a late fourth to seal the victory.
