Veteran Philippine actress Nora Aunor has passed away at the age of 71.
Her daughter, Lotlot de Leon, announced her death on Instagram, expressing deep sorrow and gratitude for her mother’s legacy.
She wrote: “Nora Aunor, It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, celebrated television and movie actress, and a true National Artist of the Philippines, Nora Aunor.

She rose to fame in the 1960s as a singer before transitioning into acting, earning numerous accolades for her performances.
In 2022, she was given the country’s highest honour for actors, National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, in recognition of her contributions to Philippine arts.
Details of her funeral service will be announced later.
“Her funeral service details to follow. We thank everyone for their support and ask for continued prayers during this time of mourning”, she added.
