Tinubu ‘angered & troubled’ over insecurity, urges Nigerians to support security forces

The national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his anger over the insecurity ravaging the Nigeria.

Tinubu, who had earlier this week opined that the ruling party has bright chances of ruling the country beyong 2023, said he was troubled by the acts of terror happening in many parts of the country.

In a series of tweet on Thursday, the former Senator and Lagos Governor also called on fellow citizens to stand with the military and other security agencies, who are doing their best to contain the situation.

“Like all decent Nigerians, I am angered and troubled by the terror and cruelty being visited upon the people of Borno, Yobe, Benue, Niger, Imo and other parts of the nation,” he tweeted.

These attacks have caused many to disparage our military and security forces. This we must not do. Valiant men and women serve in our security forces, risking their lives to protect us. We stand with them.

“Government also must continue to encourage the security forces to do their utmost to subdue this threat. The lives of innocent Nigerians and the future progress of the nation may lie in the balance.

“As a people, we must never surrender to the fearful temptation to blame one another. Regardless of region or religion, we must unite against a common foe. Discord will only invite defeat.

“The enemy’s attacks seem to focus on our schools, religious institutions and security forces. They seek to extinguish the light of knowledge and hope by shrouding us in the darkness of fear and brutal ordeal.

We must not tremble. They will be vanquished. In the end, tolerance, justice and compassion shall win the day.”

Nigerians love APC, can rule beyond 2023 – Tinubu

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, says the the party is loved by Nigerians and has bright chances of ruling the country beyond 2023.

Tinubu stated this when speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He also reassured Nigerians that President Buhari respects the Nigerian Constitution and would vacate office at the expiration of his tenure on May 29, 2023.

He said: “The chances are as bright as a midnight star and we will continue to work for a better Nigeria.

We cannot interject politics and assumption in everything, we have a nation to build.

“We have a baton to pass. You can depend on Buhari that he will not spend one hour beyond his tenure. He will comply with the constitution.”

The APC chieftain also charged all well-meaning citizens to remain united in the wake of current security challenges confronting some parts of the country.

Tinubu said all Nigerians must put aside their religious, political, or ethnic differences and cooperate with security agents to surmount the problem.

He said: “Yes, every nation will go through these curves and difficult times but how we communicate it to the people and what are the areas to make it easier for the people to bear, those are ideas we have to be able to exchange with the leadership of the country.

“It calls for coming together to reduce banditry, move for unity and be able to bring a better Nigeria to the people because the welfare of our people is extremely important.

“This also calls for cooperation and understanding, effective security and effective giving of information.

There is no president who will want to see his country in chaos nor is there anyone who will want to see his citizens exposed to banditry and danger.

No president or a leader that will want to see his nation fractured in tribalism or religious differences and others.

“The current challenges call for serious management, evaluation, and dialogue once in a while”.

How to address farmers-herdsman incessant clashes – Tinubu

The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on Saturday called for unity and decisiveness in order to tackle the farmer-herdsmen crisis in the country.

Tinubu, who made the call in a statement issued by his media aide, Tunde Rahman, said the farmer- herdsmen dispute had taken an acute and violent dimension that had led to the death of many innocent people in the country.

He said although enhanced security measures are the necessary first step to address the problem, it could not be the only step.

Tinubu said: “This matter is not ethnic in factual origin or actual causation although in the minds and hearts of too many it has become ethnic in recrimination and impulsive action.

There have been sporadic disputes in the past but this one is more severe. The reasons for the greater violence of this current dispute are myriad.”

The ex-Lagos governor stressed that while the farmers have the right to farm on their land unmolested the herdsmen should also be allowed to raise their livestock without undue interference.

He, however, added that when a conflict between these groups arises to such an extent, the nation must set forth clear principles and policies to remove the tension and allow both to proceed toward their stated goals, live in harmony, and according to their respective rights.

The APC chieftain urged government at all levels to ensure that unoccupied public land are fenced into grazing areas or ranches and leased to herdsmen on a very low-cost and nominal basis.

Tinubu noted that the crisis has aggravated ethnic sentiment and political tension and despite the efforts of some of those in positions of responsibility and public trust, the crisis has not significantly abated.

Sadly, others who should know better have incited matters by tossing about hate-tainted statements that fall dangerously short of the leadership these people claim to provide.

“Because of the violence that has ensued and the fretful consequences of such violence, if left unabated, we must move in unison but decisively to end the spiral of death and destruction.

“Only when the violence and the illogic of it are halted can logic and reason prevail. Until the violence is rolled back, we cannot resolve the deep problems that underlie this conflict.

“We will neither be able to uplift the farmer from his impoverished toil nor move the herder toward the historic transformation which he must make,” he added.

AGF office not investigating Tinubu, but… –Malami

The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation is not investigating the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Bola Tinubu, the AGF, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has said.

Malami said this during an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today’ programme on Tuesday.

The AGF, however, said he could not say if the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Code of Conduct Bureau were investigating Tinubu since the two agencies had statutory powers to commence probes and prosecute people.

Responding to a question, he said, “The Office of the AGF, as you rightly know, has not taken any decision, has not filed or instituted any action before any court in the land relating to Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

But then, within the context of the law, as you rightly know, the EFCC and the Code of Conduct Bureau are all statutory bodies vested with statutory powers to act within the context of the law establishing them. So, I am not in a position to give you a precise answer.

“The Office of the AGF and its arm, which is the Director of Public Prosecutions, has not initiated any proceedings and no investigation has been instituted at its instance by any agency of the government be it EFCC or the Code of Conduct Bureau.”

The EFCC had in November 2020 written a letter to the CCB requesting copies of Tinubu’s asset declaration form.

Tinubu calls for peace in Nigeria

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday called for peace among all ethnic and religious groups in Nigeria.

Tinubu made the call during the Eighth-Day Fidau Prayer for the late first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande.

The event was also attended by former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba; former Inspector-General of Police, Musliliu Smith; the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; and his Ekiti State counterpart, Kayode Fayemi; among others.

The APC chieftain said the country was facing a crisis and urged Nigerians to live in harmony and give peace a chance.

He said: “Nigeria is currently facing a crisis; a crisis of insurgency, banditry in all aspects of security, but God Almighty that made this country one of the largest and most resourceful countries will protect us.

“I appeal, in his (Jakande) memory today, for us not to turn whatever challenges we are facing right now into ethnic, tribal, and religious crises.

If there is a crisis, where do we go? We will submerge entire West Africa. There will be no enough space to accommodate us.

“Those who have seen the effect of war, the effect of tribal conflict, of religious conflict, will never want it for Nigeria.

“We pray to God to strengthen our mind, guide our faith, put peace and bring peace unto this land, may Allah bless all of us.”

Tinubu said the religious leaders are very critical in the present situation and urged them to continue their prayers, commitment, and fasting for the peace and stability in the country.

The ex-Lagos governor described the death of the late Jakande as not just a loss to the family but Lagos and the country in general.

Tinubu said Lagos and Nigeria were lucky to have a man like the late former governor and drew from his wealth of knowledge.

“Today, he is no more but he still exists to eternity. We pray for Lagos State, we pray for Nigeria to give us more people, more leaders that are prudent, honest, and give priority to the world in the future,” the APC chieftain concluded.

Don’t allow people deceive you into running for 2023 presidency, MASSOB warns Jonathan, Tinubu

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), has sent a strong warning to former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, not to contemplate running in the 2023 presidential election.

MASSOB was reacting to speculations that some governors of the APC in the North have been putting pressure on Jonathan to decamp to the APC and contest on their ticket while a group in the South-West loyal to Tinubu called ‘The South-West Agenda (SWAGA),’ has been putting pressure on the former Governor to throw his hat into the race.

In a statement on Wednesday signed by MASSOB National Leader, Uchenna Madu, the group also warned Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to bury his interest as not doing so will be “a dangerous systematic way of creating and re-establishing another political discord among the people of the old eastern region.”

MASSOB added that instead of running for the presidency in 2023, Jonathan, Tinubu and Bello should rather bury their ambitions and work towards ensuring that a South-Easterner gets the Presidency.

Madu called on all the political parties to ensure that their presidential ticket is given to “credible South Easterners to ensure equity, justice and fairness in the Nigeria project.”

The statement reads:

“Former President Goodluck Jonathan and his Ijaw kinsmen should be wise enough to discern this subtle and hypocritical move of Arewa governors.

“The Sultan of Sokoto, the Aso villa cabals, the frontline emirs, the Arewa opinion leaders and Islamic gurus, both Nigerians and foreigners, are perfectly aware and systematically pushing for a Goodluck Jonathan one tenure administration.

“Their ultimate political aim is to sideline and frustrate the golden chances of Igbo man or South-East zone to emerge as president of Nigeria.

“MASSOB also warns Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state to bury their presidential ambitions in 2023 because it is solely and sacrosanct for the South-East zone to produce the next president of Nigeria.

“It is not about sentiment or selfishness to support the South-East zone; it is the turn of the South-East zone to produce the next president of Nigeria according to the zoning arrangement.

“Nigeria is already sitting on an explosive time bomb that will eventually explode in 2023 if justice and national integration are not done to the people of South-East in producing the next president of Nigeria.

“The Hausa-Fulani are seriously plotting to scuttle and frustrate the South-East zone’s chances to produce the next president of Nigeria.”

MURIC backs Tinubu for president, says he’s a candidate with ‘impeccable pedigree’

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has thrown its weight behind Bola Tinubu for the 2023 presidency, stating that the former Lagos State governor has ‘impeccable pedigree’.

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday night by the Director, MURIC, Ishaq Akintola, who said that Yoruba do not have to search too far as the leader of the ruling party has shown interest.

Akintola further added that the best thing Yoruba people can do for the region is to rally behind Tinubu and ensure that he clinches power in 2023.

According to Akintola, the South-West has a big opportunity of gaining political power in the year 2023.

He said; “Fortunately the Yoruba do not have to search too far as a former governor of Lagos State and leader of the ruling party has shown interest. Here is a candidate that brandishes impeccable pedigree.

“Nobody can deny his political dexterity. He is known to have fought and won several political battles. The best the Yoruba people can do for the region is to rally behind this candidate and ensure that he clinches power in 2023,” Akintola added.

He further noted in the statement that any tribe seeking to rule in the year 2023 must be seen to be accommodating, tolerant and resilient.

“Power shift to the South has become mandatory as President Muhammadu Buhari would have spent eight complete years by 2023 and all eyes are presently on the South-West.

“Therefore the region cannot afford to lose the opportunity due to restlessness, recklessness, unnecessary protests, issuance of quit notices to other ethnicities and a general lack of stability”, he added.

End SARS: Tinubu slams Army for using live bullets on protesters, deny owning Lekki Toll Gate

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has denied being part of the shooting at the Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday night.

Dozens of End SARS protesters were killed and many left critically injured, after men believed to be officers of the Nigerian Army, opened fire at them.

In a telephone interview with Channels Television on Wednesday morning, Tinubu insisted he will never be part of any carnage.

The former Governor of the state also condemned the action of the Army, saying, “Why will they use live bullets?

“I will never, never be part of any carnage. I will never be part of that.”

Tinubu also denied having any investment in the Lekki Concession Company (LCC), the firm which manages the tollgate.

“I have no dime, no kobo investment in the tollgate,” he said.
