Houston police arrest suspect linked to Takeoff’s murder

The Houston Police Department has announced an arrest in connection with the death of American rapper Kirsnik Khari Ball, also known as, Takeoff.

The artiste, who was a member of the Migos rap trio was a victim of a shooting incident at a Houston bowling alley in November.

An altercation had broken out during a dice game, which another member of the rap group, Quavo, was involved in.

A person started shooting during the fight, the rapper was hit, and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Police Department stated that Takeoff was neither part of the argument, nor was he armed.Addressing the media on Friday, the Department’s chief announced that they had arrested 33-year-old Patrick Xavier Clark and charged him with the murder of the late rapper, TMZ reports.

Court documents filed by prosecutors showed that Clark had applied for an expedited passport immediately after Takeoff’s murder.

Before the arrest was made, he had received the passport and also had a large sum of cash on him.

To prevent the risk of the suspect escaping, prosecutors are asking that his bail be placed at $1,000,000, and if granted, he should be placed on house arrest.

Colorado mass shooting suspect identified, faces 10 counts of murder

The suspect accused of opening fire at a King Soopers grocery store in the university city of Boulder, Colorado, United States, killing 10 people including a police officer, the store manager and other shoppers on Monday, has been identified as 21-year-old Syrian-born Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, a resident of Arvada in the Denver region.

According to the Boulder Police Department in a statement on Wednesday, Alissa faces 10 counts of murder in the first degree, with a sentence of life or death penalty if found guilty.

Alissa who was shot in the leg before his arrest, was booked into the Boulder county jail on Tuesday after being treated at a hospital, authorities said

The motive in the Boulder killings, one of several mass shootings in the US over the past week, isn’t immediately known, and the investigation will take a long time, though the suspect is believed to be the only perpetrator, authorities added.

I promise that all of us here will work tirelessly to make sure that the killer is held absolutely and fully accountable for what he did,” Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty said at a news conference on Tuesday.

At the conference, Dougherty said the suspect has “lived most of his life in the United States.”

According to Dougherty, a search of the suspect’s suburban Denver home turned up other weapons, while the weapon used in the attack was an AR-15-style pistol modified with an arm brace.

Alissa will have his first court appearance at 8:15 am on Thursday, according to Colorado Judicial Branch online records.

Continuing, Dougherty said the suspect had “removed all of his clothing and was dressed only in shorts” when he was taken into custody. Outside the store, he wouldn’t tell police whether there were other suspects, but he did ask to speak to his mother.”

Alissa, whose family emigrated from Syria, may have been suffering from mental illness, according to his 34-year-old brother, Ali Aliwi Alissa.

The brother told CNN that in high school, bullies made fun of Alissa’s name and for being Muslim and that may have contributed to him becoming “anti-social.”

“He always suspected someone was behind him, someone was chasing him. We kept a close eye on him when he was in high school. He would say, ‘Someone is chasing me, someone is investigating me.’ And we’re like, ‘Come on man. There’s nothing.’ He was just closing into himself,” the brother added.

Ogun guard allegedly hires area boys to rob employer

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 47-year-old security man, Adamu Ibrahim, for allegedly hiring area boys to rob his employer.

However, the area boys, Ajibola Yusuf and Bakare Ifakayode, leaked the information to the police.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday.

Oyeyemi explained that Ibrahim was a guard attached to the Inspiration Filling  Station at Matogun, Agbado, in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

According to Oyeyemi, the two area boys reported at the Agbado divisional headquarters that they received a phone call from the suspect that the manager of the filling station would be leaving the station around 8pm with huge sums of money running into N3m.

He said, “They reported further that the suspect, who described the manager and his motorcycle to them, instructed them to ambush, rob him of the money and kill him so that nobody would trace the incident to them.

They stated further that the suspect believed that being area boys, they would be useful for him to realise his devilish plan. But they said though they are area boys, they are not armed robbers.

“Upon the information, the DPO Agbado division, SP Kehinde kuranga, asked them to continue playing along with the suspect, while he detailed his detectives to be on his trail.

“The suspect continued calling the duo and giving them the description of the manager and the route he would be passing through, when the police swooped on him and got him arrested.

Initially, he denied planning any robbery with anybody, but when confronted with his supposed accomplices, he owned up to the crime.

“On further interrogation, he confessed to the police that the two people he contracted resembled those who had earlier robbed the same station years ago and that was the reason he thought he could confide in them to carry out another robbery which he would benefit from.”

The PPRO, however, said the state Commissioner of Police, Edward  Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

He said the commissioner appealed to members of the public, especially business owners, to always do background checks on anyone they wanted to employ in order not to employ criminals.
