Buhari knew Senate will reject his request on Electoral Act – Shehu Sani

The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Sheu Sani, said on Wednesday he was not surprised the Senate rejected President Buhari’s request for amendment of the contentious section 84 (12) in Electoral Act.

President Buhari had a few days ago written the National Assembly to amend the section which required political office holders to resign their appointments at least three months before their parties’ primaries or conventions if they are contesting in the elections.

The upper legislative chamber rejected the President’s request at Wednesday’s plenary.

After the Senate Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi, led the debate for the second reading of the bill, the lawmakers voted “No” when it was put to vote by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

Sani, who reacted to the development on his Twitter handle, said the President was fully aware that his request would not be granted by the National Assembly.

He said the Senate action was a clear manifestation of deception evident in the country’s polity, stressing Nigerians should not take it as something serious.

Sani wrote: “If you think that the President is not aware that the Senate will throw out the amendment of the electoral act, then you don’t know the art of political deception. The political appointees are now on their own.”

Bandits controlling Nigerian territories under Buhari’s watch – Shehu Sani

A former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, on Tuesday decried the menace of bandits and Boko Haram insurgents in the country.

Sani, a staunch critic of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, said in a post on his Facebook page the bandits had established a governance structure, imposed taxes and levies on the people, kidnapped for ransom and installed traditional rulers and Imams, while the government continued to deceive Nigerians with claims of success in the fight against the criminals.

He wrote: “Virtually now, bandits in the North-West have become a state within a state.

Bandits have been able to establish governance structure in the sense that they don’t just kidnap and extort money, it has reached a point where they even install.

“They even install traditional rulers and Imams in these communities. And all of these are happening under the watch of President Buhari.

“And they will continue to lie to Nigerians that they have defeated the bandits and terrorists.”

I don’t want to faint from watching Tiwa Savage’s leaked tape – Ex-Senator, Shehu Sani

Former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has warned social media users against considering sending a leaked tape of Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage and her lover.

The ex-lawmaker issued warning on his Facebook page on Tuesday, stating that he could faint from watching the clip.

CorrectNG reported on Tuesday that a leaked intimate tape of the singer and her boyfriend circulated the internet.

While the video continues to garner reactions from fans and colleagues, Shehu Sani begged people not to send the clip to him.

He said he could faint just like he did when a video from another similar incident was sent to him.

“Warning: Nobody should send that Tiwa’s video to me please, so that I don’t faint. The last time someone accidentally sent me a similar clip, I was on admission for one day. I’m fragile,” he wrote.

However, some celebrities have drummed up support for the singer, as they uploaded her picture and hailed her on Instagram.

COVID-19: Shehu Sani reacts to reopening of schools, says Nigerian govt confused

As public and private schools resume their academic sessions today, former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to the reopening of schools despite the surge of Covid-19 across the country.

Sani made his reaction known via a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Monday.

Sani said state governments should pay more attention in ensuring adherence to COVID-19 measures and not the Federal Government.

He further said the government was confused on how the second wave of COVID-19 should be tackled.

The tweeted read: “Reopening schools and other #COVID19 regulatory measures should be a matter for the states and not the FG; the 36 states, including FCT have different infection rates. There is evident confusion on how to tackle the second wave.”

Ripples Nigeria had reported that the Federal Government had fixed January 18, 2021 as the scheduled day for schools across the country to reopen.

The resumption has caused fear among some Nigerians.
