Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat have both been sworn in for their second terms in Lagos State.

The oath of office and oath of allegiance was carried out on Monday, May 29th by the Chief Jude of the state, Kazeem Alogba, at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).

Sanwo-Olu was re-elected on March 18, having secured a total of 762,134 votes against his main challengers — Olajide ‘Jandor’ Adediran of the PDP who polled 62,449 and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the LP who got 312,329 votes.

EndSARS: Sanwo-Olu pays court-awarded N5 million damages to Lagos Uber driver

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos said he’ll be paying the sum of N5 million awarded by the court as compensation to an Uber driver, Adedotun Clement, who was assaulted during the first year anniversary of the EndSARS protest.

The victim was assaulted on October 20, 2021, by officials of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency and police officers at the Lekki Tollgate.

Mr Clement and his lawyer, Inibehe Effiong filed a N500 million lawsuit against the police and the state government agency in a court in Lagos State.

On March 14, the Lagos division of the high court ruled that the state government should pay N5 million as compensation to Mr Clement.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, Mr Sanwo-Olu said he was willing to pay the compensation and would uphold the rule of law and protect citizens rights.

He added that he had directed the state’s attorney-general, Moyosore Onigbanjo, to set up a meeting to pay the compensation awarded by the court.

“Good evening Lagos, as Governor, I’m committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens’ rights with empathy and authority,” he said.

“I recently became aware of the case involving Mr. Clement Adedotun and the judgement by the Federal High Court, and I understand the impact this legal battle has had on him.

“After reviewing Mr. Clement’s case, I’ve directed the Honorable Attorney General to set up a meeting and pay him the compensation awarded by the Court,” Mr Sanwo-Olu said.

Mr Sanwo-Olu said the state government will not appeal the ruling of the high Court, but would instead comply with the court’s ruling for public good. He assured Lagosians that he was committed to upholding their human rights and commended the applicants for seeking justice.

“Although the State Government has appealed the ruling, I’ve interceded in this instance in the interest of the public good, and requested that the State’s Attorney General comply with the court’s ruling,” Mr Sanwo-Olu said.

“As a strong advocate for the rule of law, I commend all parties for seeking justice through the appropriate channels, and I remain committed to upholding the rights of all Lagosians,” he added.

SDP congratulates Gov Sanwo-Olu, urges inclusive governance

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Lagos has congratulated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (of APC) on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.

INEC on Monday morning declared Mr Sanwo-Olu as the poll’s winner, defeating all his 15 opponents with 762,134 votes for a second term in office.

In a statement on Monday, the SDP chairman in Lagos, Femi Olaniyi (aka Ferrari), said Mr Sanwo-Olu’s victory showed his popularity.

Mr Olaniyi, who urged Mr Sanwo-Olu to be magnanimous in victory, however, called for inclusive governance.

“In the spirit of sportsmanship, we want to congratulate Sanwo-Olu on his deserved victory at Saturday’s governorship election. Sanwo-Olu’s re-election provides him with another opportunity to justify the hope reposed on him by the people,” said the SDP chairman.

Mr Olaniyi added;

“It is a time to reflect and chat (about) a way to get the dividends of democracy across to the masses. It is another opportunity to alleviate the suffering of the masses. It is another time to put smiles on the faces of our people at the grassroots. We believe Sanwo-Olu will do more for the people of Lagos state.”

He said the governor must be more inclusive in governance and bring the right and qualified people on board to deliver his campaign promises to the people.

“The SDP will want to use this medium to counsel the governor to prioritise inclusiveness and carry all relevant stakeholders along,” the party chair urged.

According to him, SDP will not hesitate to offer counsel and engage in constructive criticism where necessary.

Mr Olaniyi, who noted that the election was not without flaws, urged INEC, security agencies and other stakeholders to improve the electoral process in the country.

Mr Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes to defeat his closest rival of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who scored 312,329 votes. PDP candidate Abdul-Azeez Adediran came third with 62,449 votes.

Sanwo-Olu sympathises with victims of Lagos train crash

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sympathised with victims of the train accident that occurred on Thursday morning.

It was reported that two people were confirmed dead while an unspecified number of people were injured after a passenger train crushed a Lagos State Government staff bus on its way from Ikotun enroute Alausa, the state secretariat, at the PWD area of the state.

The accident happened around past 7a.m. on Thursday.

In a message on his Twitter account, Sanwo-Olu prayed for families of the victims and appreciated the efforts of the rescue team.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the train/bus accident . The vehicle was conveying staff of the Lagos state Government, our staff who serve the state in different capacities. Let’s say a prayer for the families and a prayer of mercy and protection for our state.My thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time. A big thank you to well- meaning Lagosians who immediately joined in rescue efforts. Our first responders and emergency services are on the ground and we will share more information shortly,” he tweeted.

Governor Sanwo-Olu plans training for street beggars

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said the provision of various job skills and additional homes will reduce the menace of women and children beggars across the streets of the state.

The governor stated this on Monday during an interview on TVC News.

Sanwo-Olu said;

“These women and children beggars on the streets are citizens that are looking for sustenance and livelihood daily. I tell you, we clear them almost every week but they find themselves there. Is the solution for me to say I want to pack them to another part of the country?

“No. The solution is to continue to build additional homes and continue to give them solutions by which they can become useful to their families. So we want to see how we can train them and give them skills so that they become providers of jobs themselves. It is a national issue and you don’t need a visa to come into Lagos so it is not me that has created that.”

The governor also explained that the state needs private investors with the right funding to embark on waste conversion projects.

“As a mega city, we generate between 12,000 and 14,000 metric tonnes of waste every day, largely domestic wastes, though some are industrial waste. A lot of people will tell you that there is money in waste which we are beginning to see. There is a lot of sorting that is happening and people are recycling, but it still hasn’t answered a huge number of opportunities that are there.

“These are investments that I believe the private sector can take up and I have seen a few people come up but they are never finished through. I am waiting for one that has the funding required to take up the project of waste conversion,” he added.

We’ll deliver 6 million votes to Sanwo-Olu, says coalition

A coalition of 50 Igbo socio-cultural groups has pledged to deliver no fewer than six million votes to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwu-Olu.

The group, which is known as G-50, agreed to work to ensure that the governor succeeds in his bid for a second term, following Sanwo-Olu’s relationship with non-indigenes in the state.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, the group’s Coordinator, Dr Festus Uchenna, said: “Sanwo-Olu is intelligent, humble and detribalised.

As a group, if we had one million votes before. We are determined to make it six million votes, and the only way to do this is by working together.”

On his part, Mr Jude Ezenwafor, said Sanwo-Olu’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and the #EndSARS protests were remarkable.

“The G-50 is rooting for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s re-election because of his record of good governance.

We are convinced that he has done so well as seen in his management of the Covid-19 outbreak and the #End SARS Protests. So, we want him to continue.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu reacts to killing of young man in Ajah

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sympathized with the family, friends and associates of the late Gafaru Buraimoh, who was allegedly shot dead by a police officer at Happy Land estate in the Ajah axis of the state on Wednesday, December 7.

In a statement released by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, the Governor expressed sadness over the death of the late Buraimoh, pledging that the State Government would work with the police in their investigation to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the shooting that led to the untimely death of an innocent citizen, with a view to ensuring that justice is served.

He said: “no one deserves to die in that manner. Buraimoh was one of our million citizens with hope for a better life. His death is a sad episode for me personally and the State as whole because injury to one is injury to all.

“I am aware that the Lagos State police command has immediately arrested, disarmed and detained the police officer involved in the shooting incident and has also begun a full scale investigation in the matter.

“I therefore urge the residents to remain calm and not take the law into their hands on the matter, knowing fully we, as the Government would not spare anything to ensure that justice is served.”

The Governor added that his office is earnestly awaiting the full report of the investigation launched by the police authorities on the unfortunate incident.

2023: Tinubu endorses Sanwo-Olu for 2nd term in Lagos

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Bola Tinubu, on Friday endorsed the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for a second term in office.

At an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Ikeja, Tinubu endorsed Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat for another term of four years in office by raising the duo’s hands to the admiration of those present at the forum.

He said the governor and his deputy had established an unbreakable team to raise the bar of excellence in governance and service delivery in the state with tangible results and progress to show for it.

According to him, the duo’s accomplishments won them the chance to run for a second term, rather than a blanket endorsement that many politicians seek.

Tinubu, a presidential candidate on the APC platform, said Lagos had remained a source of pride for residents and other Nigerians who desired responsive administration and progress under Sanwo-Olu’s leadership.

He said: “We have a brilliant governor at the helm of affairs, who is supported by his deputy to build an unbreakable team that has raised the bar of excellence in governance in Lagos. I specially thank Dr. Hamzat, who has been a very good assistant and a pillar of support to the governor.

”Sanwo-Olu with Hamzat has raised an impenetrable team. I commend both of you and all members of the cabinet. You have all done wonderfully well and I must say that I am very proud of you.”

In what appeared like a thinly veiled jibe at the former state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, who is reportedly eyeing a return to the seat he vacated in 2019, the APC leader said the party would not prevent any aspirant from vying for any position or testing their strength at the primaries in the state.

He said that all candidates that would be fielded by the party across must go through a delegate electoral system.

Tinubu added: “Aspirants who are showing interest in positions from House of Assembly to the governorship, go and get your forms; you are going to contest primaries. There will not be any favouritism in the primaries.

“We want you to contest and test your popularity. Nobody will ask you to step down for another aspirant. Let all aspirants mobilise their supporters; if you win, you win. If you lose, there will not be a refund of the nomination form.”

Sanwo-Olu reaffirms commitment to safety of Lagosians

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday reaffirmed the commitment of administration to the safety of lives and properties in the state.

Sanwo-Olu, according to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akoshile, stated this when the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division of Nigerian Army, Major Gen. Umar Musa; and other military officers paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Marina.

Others on the trip to the Government House are the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Logistics Command of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice-Marshal, Hassan Abubakar and the Commander, NNS Beecroft of Nigeria Navy, Commodore AM Haruna.

The governor also pledged to continue to provide the people of the state with good governance.

The statement read: “As a government in the last three years, we have been receiving tremendous cooperation from the men and officers of the Nigerian Army Forces – Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Navy.

As a government, we will continue to ensure that we raise the bar of governance so that our people can receive the real dividends of democracy, which is the improvement of the livelihood of our citizens. And in doing that, the safety and security of lives and property are critical and germane because it is only in a safe and secured environment that businesses can thrive; people will sleep with two eyes closed and go about their businesses lawfully.

“We want to ask that the existing collaboration that we currently enjoy between the government and all of the various security formations in the state is sustained and where necessary, improved upon. Once we do that, we will be able to ensure that the commercial nerve centre of our country is kept safe and secure. We owe it as a duty to our nation to continue to raise the level of security assurance that is in Lagos.

“For us, as civilians, we will ensure that democracy thrives and lives. We will continue to ensure that we bring to the barest minimum things that can bring about a civil disturbance. No going back on eviction of traders at Apogbon under bridge – Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said on Monday there would be no going back on the eviction of traders under the Apogbon Bridge in Lagos Island.

Fire had last Wednesday razed several shops under the Apongbon section of the Eko Bridge in Lagos State.

Sanwo-Olu, who addressed traders during an inspection of the bridge, said it would be reckless on the part of the government to allow the traders to continue doing business under the structure.

The traders had earlier carried placards near the bridge and appealed to the government to withdraw the eviction notice.

The traders, who came together under the auspices of the Apongbon/Ebute-Ero Marketers’ Association, said they had occupied the place for 50 years.

However, the governor insisted that the government would not withdraw the seven days ultimatum given to the traders to vacate the bridge.

He said: “The level of destruction is extremely unfortunate. This is a clear testimony of how public assets should not be turned to. We are going to start excessive clearing of the place.

“To go back to how it is being done is to mean that we are just being reckless, it will make us completely irresponsible because we cannot assure the safety of the bridge.

”We cannot just allow all of that to happen. They are completely illegal. And there are things that we should not have around us and in a big city like this, it is not acceptable.”

Buhari, Sanwo-Olu predict boom in agric sector, job opportunities from Dangote Fertilizer Plant

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday predicted a boom in the economy, especially the agricultural sector as a result of the commissioning of the Dangote Fertilizer Plant, situated in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

The world-class fertilizer plant was built at a cost of $2.5 billion, with the capacity to produce 3 million metric tonnes (mt) of urea yearly.

Nigeria’s average fertilizer application of 20kg/ha, is regarded as the lowest in Africa, as it lags behind some other African countries, including South Africa and Egypt.

The Dangote fertilizer plant is expected to bridge this deficit.

The plant, which is located at the fast-growing Economic Free Trade Zone, is acclaimed to be the largest of such projects in West Africa.

In his speech during the commissioning, Buhari revealed how the project will ensure the massive creation of job opportunities for the youth.

“I praise Alhaji Aliko Dangote for the project to create job opportunities for economic growth. I am confident that this investment will replicate the group’s earlier exploits in FCMG and other countries.

“Dangote is the second biggest employer of labour in the country after the Federal Government. The creation of jobs by the private sector is very important to the development of the country.

In the agricultural sector, we expect a boom due to the availability of agro-chemicals needed for productive food production. Let me assure all Nigerians that our government aims to provide an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive. I commend the CBN and other stakeholders for allowing this project to come to fruition.”

Corroborating the President’s sentiments, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu noted that this project would trigger the growth of entrepreneurs such as Dangote which will aid the development of the country.

“We are here to commission the largest fertilizer plant in Africa. The President and I discussed in London, how to provide job opportunities to our youth and this is a testament to the provision of such opportunities.

This plant will also cascade into the agricultural sector. Alhaji Dangote was able to achieve this project due to his resilience and love for the country. We need to ensure the replication of many Dangotes in our midst in order to drive development in the country.”

Sanwo-Olu reinstates suspended LASU registrar

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered the reinstatement of the suspended Registrar of the Lagos State University (LASU), Mr. Olayinka Amuni.

The LASU spokesman, Ademola Adekoya, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday night, said the registrar would resume work on February 1.

The governor had on May 21 last year directed Amuni to proceed on a compulsory following the dissolution of the university governing council.

He later appointed Mr. Emmanuel Famu as the acting registrar of the institution.

The statement read: “The Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to the Lagos State University, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has approved the reinstatement of Mr. Olayinka Mohammed Amuni as Registrar of the University with effect from Tuesday, 1st February 2022.

“Recall that Mr. Amuni was directed by the state government to step aside from his position on Friday, 21st May 2021, in the wake of the dissolution of the former Governing Council of the University until the completion of the process of the appointment of the 9th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University. The process eventually culminated in the appointment of the current Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello,.

“The Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the entire university community congratulates Mr. Amuni on his reinstatement and wishes him well in the remaining part of his tenure.”

Sanwo-Olu orders probe of Lagos building collapse

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered a detailed probe into the collapse of a 21-storey building in the Ikoyi area of the state.

At least four people had been confirmed dead and several others trapped in the rubble when the building currently under construction along Gerard Road in Ikoyi came down Monday afternoon.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed this in a statement Monday night.

He said three persons had been rescued from the debris of the collapsed building.

The statement read: “The Lagos State Government has called for calm over the collapse today of a 21-storey building, which is under construction on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi.

Lagos Rescue Unit (LRU), Lagos State Fire Service, and Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS) are on the site, battling to save the lives of those under the rubble. Three persons have been rescued, even as the operations to save more lives continue.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu has ordered an investigation into the incident.

The Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has visited the site in the company of other officials, including the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Bamgbose- Martins, Special Adviser on Urban Development, Mr. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba; Special Adviser, GIS, and Physical Planning, Dr. Olajide Babatunde; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mrs. Abiola Kosegbe as well as General Manager, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu.

“The Deputy Governor directed security agents to cordon off the site to facilitate rescue efforts.

“The General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Arch. Gbolahan Oki, was also at the scene assessing the site for any likely damage to the surrounding structures.

“A report of the investigations will be made public in due course.”

Lagos to make report of #ENDSARS panel public – Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said on Thursday the state government would make the report of the judicial panel of inquiry which probed the allegation of brutality by operatives of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other police units public.

The panel concluded its sittings last Monday.

The governor, who addressed journalists on the ongoing efforts at rebuilding the state after last year’s destruction of public and private facilities and assets by hoodlums that hijacked the #ENDSARS protest, said the government would not make an attempt to cover up the recommendations of the panel.

He stressed that the panel report would be helpful in strengthening true reconciliation and preventing the re-occurrence of violence in the state.

Sanwo-Olu said: “The panel concluded its sittings about three days ago and has asked for time to put the reports together behind closed doors. We do not know the content of the report, but we want to say publicly that, upon the handover of the report, we will be making it public.

“We will not cover up anything. This is not who we are and that is not what our government stands for. We will make full disclosure of whatever recommendations that the panel will come up with. I assure citizens of Lagos that we will not leave anything to chance.”

How Davido turned down Sanwo-Olu’s invitation to a concert

Nigerian activist, Rinu Oduala has revealed how top musician, Davido shunned a concert organised by the Lagos state government.

In a post on her verified Twitter page, Rinu who was a frontline #EndSARS protester, said Davido was invited to a concert by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, he accepted but later declines after realising who the organizers were.

She wrote; ”I remember Lagos State Govt organized a concert few days ago & covertly invited many celebrities.

The moment Davido found out they were one of the sponsors, he canceled! #WeWillNeverForget”

While lambasting celebs that attended the event by the Lagos State Government recently, Samklef described his colleagues as activists during the day and friends to the government at night, hence they are all using the movement for their own promotional game.

Sanwo-Olu approves security team for BRT, others in Lagos

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the establishment of a dedicated security team to monitor and protect the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and other transport infrastructure in the state.

The Spokesman for Lagos Metropolis Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Kolawole Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Lagos.

He said the establishment of the security team followed incessant damage to transport infrastructure and violation of the BRT lanes by commercial vehicle drivers and other road users in the state.

Ojelabi said: “The approval granted by the Lagos State governor that the dedicated team headed by a Superintendent of Police will comprise 70 officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force charged with the protection of existing LAMATA facilities and others currently under construction.

The team will ensure that the safety of transport infrastructure is guaranteed and not truncated by needless and unforeseen attacks as well as make passengers feel secure at LAMATA facilities.

“With more transport infrastructure being constructed, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority reasoned that there was the need for a higher measure of security and vigilance especially in the light of last year’s attack on Lagos State Government and LAMATA facilities by hoodlums who hijacked the #EndSARS protest.

“During the attack, the newly completed Oyingbo Bus Terminal was vandalized and 57 new BRT buses that were ready for deployment for passenger operations set ablaze. On the same day, Berger Bus Terminal and 23 new buses parked in the facility were also set ablaze by the hoodlums.”

Sanwo-Olu threatens to stop LagosHoms contract over slow pace of work

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has threatened to terminate the contracts for the LagosHoms housing project in Sangotedo, Eti-Osa local government area of the state over the slow pace of work at the site.

The governor, who visited the project site on Friday, gave the contractors gave the contractors a one-week ultimatum to improve work on the project.

He noted that work on Phase 1 of the project was 90 percent completed while contractors handling Phase 2 were behind schedule.

He charged the contractors handling Phase 2 to complete the work within nine months.

Sanwo-Olu said: “As far as I know, the government owes no one. But if we owe you, we will pay in one month. Erring contractors have one week to speed up work.

The Ministries of Housing and Works and Infrastructure would be back in one week to inspect the project and if there are no changes, your contract will be terminated and you will face prosecution.

“I have not come here to turn you away but to make peace and restitution. For those contractors still working, we will wait for another four more weeks for extensive clean-up before we finally commission the project.”

The governor also directed the contractors handling Phase 1 of the project to complete the 744 flats by October.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of seven new Permanent Secretaries in the state.

The Lagos State Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, said the new permanent secretaries were among the Directors that took part in last year’s screening exercise conducted by the government for officials in the state’s public service.

The screening exercise took place from November to December 2020.

The new permanent secretaries are:

· Bolarinwa Kikelomo – Director Establishments, Office of Establishment & Training.

· Emokpae Olatokunbo – Director Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture.

· Oke-Osanyintolu Zainab Oluwatoyin – Director Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health.

· Sanusi Rukayat Alake – Director Administration & Human Resource, Debt Management Office.

· Abolaji Abayomi – Director of Education, Lagos State Technical & Vocational Education Board.

· Salami Olubukola – Executive Secretary, Judicial Service Commission

·  Femi Daramola – General Manager, Public Works Corporation, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

According to Muri-Okunola, the new permanent secretaries possess the qualities, competence, and experience required to serve in the state’s public service.

”Bad guy…” – Sanwo-Olu reacts on meeting Jim Iyke at an event (Video)

Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Oolu recently met Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke and his reaction was epic.

Jim Iyke was among some youths that visited the Lagos State Government House in Ikeja on Friday, September 10, for the Lagos SDG Youth Alliance.

At the event, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on arrival went around, saying hello to everyone present.

When he reached Jim Iyke and recognising him, the Governor exclaimed and pointed at him, saying: “Bad guy!”.

He added: “All his movies, somebody must die. And the person will wake up again.”

Sanwo-Olu appoints ex-Accountant-General, 12 others as members of LASU governing council

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed a former state’s Accountant- General, Mr. David Sunmoni, as chairman of the 13-member Governing Council of the Lagos State University (LASU).

The governor’s Special Adviser on Education, Tokunbo Wahab, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said the appointment was based on the report of the Special Visitation Panel on the appointment of the 9th Vice-Chancellor for the institution.

According to him, the visitation panel recommended the dissolution of the university’s previous governing council.

Other members of the council are – Prof. Amuwo Shaffudeen, Mr. Anuoluwa Eso, Mr. Tolani Sule, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, Mr. Karl Toriola, Mr. Adekunle Soname, Mrs. Foluke Abdul- Rasaq, Mrs. Moronke Williams, Adebayo Akinsanya, Mrs. Adenike Fasheun, Mrs. Mojisola Taiwo, and Dr. Hakeem Adetugbobo.
