Drama as landlord locks court for owing rent

A customary court in Amurri, Enugu state, has reportedly been locked up by the landlord over unpaid rent.

According to media reports, the Customary Court presided by Egbo, Esq., in Amurri close to Agbani town, which houses the Nigerian Law School, Agbani campus, was locked up on September 12 due to inability to renew the rent.

The incident prevented the judges from sitting and forced lawyers to seek answers after unable to have their cases attended to as well.

After some enquiries, lawyers were told that the courtroom’s rent is due but it has not been renewed so the owner locked up pending renewal.

Landlord locks PHCN office in Port Harcourt over rent

The office of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution company, PHED in Ogbumnabali, Port Harcourt, Rivers State was on Thursday locked by the landlord over unpaid rent.

A social media user, Stephen Momoh shared photos of the closure. In one of the images, the landlord is seen sitting in front of the red padlocked door.

Another photo showed a PHED official attending to PHED customers in a car.

When The Punch contacted PHED spokesperson, Chioma Aninwe, she said a communication gap led to the incident.
