Woman stabs her boyfriend to death in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested one Alice Mulak of Ungwan Gwari, Karu Local Government Area of the state for stabbing her boyfriend to death with a knife following a misunderstanding.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, October 14, 2022, said the suspect was arrested by police operatives attached to Mararaba ‘A’ Division led by CSP Musa Babayola.

According to the PPRO, preliminary investigation revealed that the incident happened behind City Rock Hotel, Mararaba at about 0330hrs when the deceased and his girlfriend engaged themselves in fisticuffs as a result of a misunderstanding.

“Hence, the suspect was arrested and the knife used in perpetrating the offence was consequently recovered based on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi,” the statement read.

“The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.”

Suspected herdsmen kill widow in Nasarawa

A widow identified as Philomena Aor Sule, was among seven persons murdered by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Gidan Sule village, in Kadarko, Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.

The gunmen wielding AK 47 rifles invaded Gidan Sule village in the early hours of Saturday October 8, shooting sporadically and killing five persons instantly while scores of others escaped with bullet wounds.

Two other persons were murdered in the early hours of Sunday, October 9, 2022.

It was gathered that death toll has reportedly risen to ten as some persons earlier declared missing, were found dead at a nearby bush while several others including children, women and aged persons have not been seen.

Police confirm assassination attempt on former Nasarawa commissioner

The police has confirmed an assassination attempt on the immediate past commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources in Nasarawa state, Hon Musa Ibrahim.

Ibrahim, who is a House of Assembly candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) for Doma South constituency, survived a gunmen attack after donating relief materials to victims of floods in his constituency.

The Nation reported that Nasarawa Police spokesmamn, DSP Ramhan Nansel who confirmed the incident said;

“I can confirm this incident happened on 21 September 2022.Investigation has commenced as effort is ongoing to arrest the perpetrators of the act.”

Recounting how the incident occurred, Ibrahim told the publication; ”I am in pains but I want to disclose to the world on the 21st of this month, I went to Rukubi Town and donated relief materials including cash and other items to victims of flood disaster in my Local Government of Doma.

“After the donation, I was going back from the town to Doma when about nine gunmen opened fire on me from different directions, the bullets hit me on the front which was blocked by my GSM handset, but they shit and hit me on my elbow and back. 46 bullet shots hit and penetrated my car.

The incident occurred at about 5:30pm close to Igbabo Village about 20 kilometres to Doma Local Government Headquarters.“I allege that the perpetrators are high profile politicians outside my party.”

Abducted Nasarawa commissioner regains freedom

The abducted Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Yakubu Lawal, has regained freedom after five days in captivity.

Lawal was kidnapped by gunmen who stormed his residence on Monday night and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

The gunmen, who stormed Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state, shot indiscriminately before they took their target away.

Speaking with our correspondent in Lafia on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the commissioner was released due to sustained pressure from officers of the command on the gunmen.

He said,

“The abducted Commissioner has been released around 6pm today and he has been reunited with his family.

“Based on credible information, we gathered that the kidnappers took the commissioner to Tawa-Gali area around Mada station in Nasarawa Eggon LGA. So, we mobilised our men to go after them.”

The Nasarawa State Government has announced Monday, 4th January, 2021 the official resumption date for Public and Private Primary and Secondary Schools in the State for the commencement of first (1st) term academic activities for 2020/2021 academic session.

4) Likewise Oyo state has set January 11 for school resumption.
