Hisbah arrests 11 minors at leisure park in Kebbi

11 minors have been arrested by Hisbah operatives at a leisure park in Birnin Kebbi the Capital of Kebbi state.

Hisbah Director, Muhammad Sulyman, said the minors include both males and females, ages 14 to 15 years who were caught engaging in different anti-social behaviour allegedly inimical to their well-being and which is also abhorred in Islamic religion.

Sulyman said the minors have confessed to the offences they have committed.

He added that Hisbah operatives counselled them on the dangers of what they were caught doing before releasing them to their parents with a strong warning not to indulge in such immoral acts which are capable of eroding their home training.

He also warned that Kebbi Hisbah operatives will leave no stone unturned in nipping in the bud minors and even adults who engage in unwholesome attitudes of alcoholism or prostitution.

Sulyman said;

“Anti-social behaviour has no place in our society and we will not fold our arms to allow youth to be lost to the immorality of either drinking or prostitution.”

Three policemen, others burnt to death as vehicle pursued by Customs officers collided with bank bullion van in Kebbi

Six people including three policemen were confirmed dead in multiple accidents on along Birnin Kebbi/Argungu road in Kebbi State.

The accident occurred on Tuesday, September 27, when a vehicle smuggling petrol products from Birnin Kebbi collided into a bank bullion vehicle, four others and a motorcycle.

Spokesman of the State Police Command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, September 28, in Birnin Kebbi.

“The accident occurred when a Carina E car, carrying jerricans of PMS, was suspected to have been pursued by a Nigeria Customs Service patrol team from Birnin Kebbi,” the statement read.

“On getting to Jeda village, the Carina E car had a head-on collision with the Bullion van, as a result, bursting into flames and consumed three other cars.

Consequently, a total of five vehicles and one motorcycle were burnt to ashes,” “Six people including three police men also died in the inferno, while five other people, three policemen sustained various degree of injuries and were rushed to Federal Medical Center, Birnin Kebbi, for medical attention,”

The statement said the Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, swiftly rushed to scene of the accident and had condoled with families of the deceased.

He prayed the Almighty Allah grants the lives of the departed souls eternal rest and to give their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“Magaji-Kontagora is also assuring members of the public that a thorough investigation will be carried out to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident,” he added.

Two students kidnapped from Kebbi school found in Zamfara forest

Two students among those recently kidnapped from the Federal Government College (FGC), Yauri, in Kebbi State have been found in a forest after they reportedly escaped from their captors.

The two students, a male and female were said to have been found in Dansadau forest in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, on Saturday.
