Chibok girls reportedly escape from Boko Haram

An unspecified number of girls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Chibok, Borno State, about seven years ago have reportedly escaped from the group’s captivity.

Ali Maiyanga, the father of one of the abducted girls, Halima, told journalists on Thursday that his daughter spoke with him from military custody and confirmed their escape from the Boko Haram den.

He said: “She (the daughter) asked me. Is this my daddy? Is this my daddy, and she started crying. The crying was [so] much and I couldn’t hear her very well. I was crying too. I never expected to hear from her again.

“The whole family is so happy. Our house is full of people who are rejoicing with us.”

The man said he didn’t get the opportunity to speak to his daughter properly as she was emotional and the call was short.

He said Halima confirmed that the girls are safe and are being looked after by the Nigerian Army.

But the Nigerian Army is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.

The Boko Haram insurgents had on April 2014 abducted over 200 girls from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.

However, the Federal Government secured the release of about 100 girls after a series of negotiations with Boko Haram in 2016 and 2017.

A group of suspected #BokoHaram terrorists was sighted yesterday at 5:55 pm at Sabon Gari.
Sabon Gari is a border town between Biu and Damboa Local Government Areas in Borno state.

As reported it is likely to be understood that they were heading in the direction of Ngulde or Garkida / Gombi areas for an attack that may result in the lives of many innocent citizens of this country Nigeria.

The Boko Haram or suspected Boko Haram has in recent months ended the lives of many Nigerians so please I urge you to stay safe in where ever location you are leaving In the northern part of Nigeria especially the area of the suspected attack mentioned above.

The government will take the needed precautions to protect its citizens from the attack which cause their lives. But for now, just do all it take to stay safe from any dangerous situation and large gathering because of the ground of terrorist most likely attacks a large number of people in one place.

550 repentant Boko Haram suspects have been rehabilitated and will be released into the society by the Nigerian military.

The federal government has promised to release  new set of repentant Boko Haram terrorists this November as the presidency celebrate its technically victory over Boko Haram.

The Spokesperson for the Defence Headquarters, Major-General John Enenche, said the DRR programme under Operation Safe Corridor had recorded tremendous success judging from the feedback from previous trainees.

According to him, this new set will be opportune to travel outside the country on a scholarship to enable them to take part actively and contribute back to their immediate society.

Recalls that the lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume, had on Wednesday expressed disappointment in the decision of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to rehabilitate repentant Boko Haram members.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army stated this while speaking at the closed-door budget defense session with the Nigerian Army.

Ndume who has always spoken against the rehabilitation of Boko Haram members noted that it is wrong for Nigeria to be pampering repentant terrorists while the country is still at war.
