Tinubu Is Not A Lagosian, Bode George Claims

A Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Bode George, has claimed that the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, is not from Lagos State.

He made this claim on Tuesday during an interview on Arise TV’s show.

Urging the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, to name the school he attended, George said, “First of all, I am a Lagosian, born, bred, schooled and have no regrets whatever.

Now I know for real that Bola is not a Lagosian. You can quote me from here till the end of the world. I have been to his village, I have been to the school he attended and there is somebody who is still a member of our party who was his junior in that school, they confirmed it.

If he says he grew up in Isale-eko, okay fine, which school did you attend? You know you had a community school. I grew up on Evans Street, that is Evans between Smith Street and Odunfa Street in Lagos; 35 Evans Street was my grandfather’s house, that is the family house.

I went to the community school.”

Everything he has said is a bundle of lies – Bode George attacks Tinubu

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George, has slammed the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

George described everything Tinubu attributed to himself as a “bundle of lies”.

He said Tinubu did nothing to alleviate the sufferings of residents of Lagos State despite serving as a governor for two terms.

Speaking with Channels Television last night, August 17, George said: “I absolutely have no qualms, no quarrel with Tinubu, but all I know is that everything he has said he was or his name is this or his school is that it’s a bundle of lies.

“I’m a bonafide Lagosian, we knew what Lagos was like, and Lagos remains the commercial nerve centre, not only in Nigeria but in the whole of West Africa. What has this fellow done to us?” The PDP chieftain charged Tinubu to open up on the ownership of Alpa Beta company.

He said the APC presidential candidate should tell Nigerians how much the company has allegedly stolen from the Lagos State Government.

George said: “I have asked a very simple question and none of them has been able to answer it: who owns the Alpha Beta company? How much has the Alpha Beta company stolen from the coffers of our treasury in Lagos state?

“What has he done to alleviate the pains of the people of the state?”

Bode George warns PDP against plans to discard zoning

A former National Deputy Chairman (South-West) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Bode George, has warned the major opposition party against discarding the principle of zoning by leaving its 2023 presidential ticket open for all members to contest.

George, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) who gave this warning on Sunday when he appeared as a guest on a Channels Television programme, ‘Sunday Politics,’ said it was important the party took an early position on zoning the presidency to a particular region of the country so as to douse tensions and infighting currently going on within the party.

The elder statesman said he was worried with the controversy being generated over the zoning of the PDP’s presidential ticket as the buildup to the 2023 elections gathered momentum.

“It is mandatory, it is legitimate for the party to say yes, this is zoned to the South or to the North; but to leave it wide open is combustible,” George said.

Insisting that the party should hearken to the yearnings of Nigerians and zone its presidential ticket to the South, George said:

“Whatever has been in the North after eight years must come to the South; whatever has been in the South for the last eight years must go to the North.

“I am looking at it now as an engineer, there is a political equation; when they conceptualised this idea, nobody in their wildest dream thought there could be another political party that could produce the president.

“When you now say you want to throw it (zoning) away, are you telling Nigerians that it is only in certain parts of the country that you have people who have the competence or the courage to rule Nigeria? How can there be peace?

Are you saying we don’t have anybody in the southern part? What we are telling people is that we have no right as a party to tell any individual that you cannot contest, because it will be illegal,” the elder statesman added.

APC chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, appeals for truce between Tinubu and Bode George

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for an end to the rancour between the party’s National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George.

Igbokwe made the call in a Facebook post titled: “Let us reconcile Asiwaju and Bode George,” on Sunday.

He urged George to put an end to the incessant attacks on the ex-Lagos State governor.

The APC chieftain also urged prominent personalities in the state to broker peace between the duo.

Igbokwe wrote: “On this day of Sunday, November 14 2021, I want to appeal to well-meaning, eminent and prominent Lagosians to put heads together and work out a solution to address the political divisions between Asiwaju BAT and Lagos big boy, former Military Governor of Ondo State, Chief Bode George since 1999.

“In our own very eyes since 1999 till date, all the PDP political heavyweights in Lagos PDP have crossed over to AD, AC, ACN, and APC except Chief Bode George. To all intents and purposes, Bode George has tried. He has shown that he is a man who can take a stand and hold on to it.

No doubt, Oga Bode George has proved that he is a man but he cannot continue to waste his precious gift of time on acrimony and division. Oga Bode George should weigh all options now and do the needful.

“To continue to attack a man like Asiwaju who has built bridges across Nigeria, East, West, North or South will remain an exercise in futility. We should be bold enough to admit when someone does better us. All fingers are not equal Oga mi. Ka agba fun leader.

“Asiwaju BAT needs everybody including Bode George to forge ahead. Let the real men and women stand out in Lagos out to broker peace between Chief Bode George and Asiwaju BAT. The time to do this is now.”

Lagos elders will insist on investigation of Ikoyi collapsed building – Bode George

A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, said on Tuesday elders in Lagos State would resist any attempt by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to sweep investigations into the collapsed 21-storey building in the state under the carpet.

George, who disclosed this during a chat with journalists at his residence in the Ikoyi area of the state, said his house was shaken to its foundation when the building collapsed.

He decried the proliferation of skyscrapers in the high-brow area.

According to him, the land where the skyscrapers were built was the former office of the now moribund Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL).

The politician insisted that the investigations must reveal to Nigerians who sold the land in the area to developers.

He said: “To me, when the British were here and were living in Ikoyi, hardly could you find any house that was more than two or three-storey building. This was because the whole of this Ikoyi was just sand-filled. Suddenly, now you find every area in Ikoyi with skyscrapers and high-rise buildings.

Apart from structural damage, what about the social amenities that will be available to such properties? If you locate three skyscrapers in that closet there, where will those living there get the amenities needed to support them? Electricity, water, general security, and so on?

“These so-called developers don’t consider all these factors. All they care about is that it is an investment.

“We must find out who is behind these high-rise buildings. We the elders in Lagos will not allow Governor Sanwo-Olu to sweep this under the carpet because it may be the darkest period of his administration.

“The General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Gbolahan Oki, said they gave approval for 15 floors but the Deputy Governor now came and said they gave approval for 21-storey.

“There must be a judicial and technical committee to investigate who owns the land and who is this developer. It is arrant nonsense. My house was badly shaken when the building collapsed. I thought it was an earthquake.”

At least 44 persons were confirmed dead and 15 others rescued from the debris of the high-rise building that collapsed at Gerard Road, Ikoyi, last Monday.

If Tinubu becomes president, I’ll cease to be a Nigerian – Bode George

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, says he will cease to be a Nigerian should national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, become president.

Although Tinubu has not expressed his interest in running for presidency in 2023, many of his supporters have been urging him to contest.

George who spoke during an Arise TV programme on Friday, called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos state governor and his alleged involvement with Alpha Beta Consulting, a tax firm.

He said: “I’ve talked about it and I’m still saying publicly that the EFCC should go urgently and investigate Alpha Beta Company owned by him.

Let me say it in very clear language, to me it’s an insult to de-civilise the people of this country who are committed to national development that the likes of him want to run this country.

“We must make sure that they investigate him. He’s junketing all over the place, an insult to the civilised minds who work so hard in this country. If, by whatever yardstick, he becomes the head of state, I will cease to be a Nigerian and I’m not joking.”

Speaking on the security situation in the country, the PDP stalwart described it as “very heart-wrenching”.
