Tributes, Flowers For Princess Diana On 25th Death Anniversary

Flowers and other tributes were laid on Wednesday at Princess Diana’s former London home and above the Paris road tunnel where she lost her life, to mark the 25th anniversary of her death.

The former Lady Diana Spencer, whose fairytale marriage to Prince Charles captivated the world until it publicly unravelled with infidelity and divorce, died in a car crash in the French capital on August 31, 1997.

A trickle of well-wishers left flowers, flags and photographs for the self-styled “queen of people’s hearts” at the gates of Kensington Palace, and at the Place Diana, above the Pont de l’Alma tunnel.

At the Spencer family home, Althorp House, where Diana is buried in a lead-lined coffin on a secluded island on the estate, her brother Charles Spencer lowered the Union Jack to half mast.

Davido speaks on not being surprised that colleagues didn’t celebrate him on his 10th anniversary

Nigerian musician, David Adeleke professionally known as Davido, has reacted to a fan’s observation that his colleagues refused to celebrate and congratulate him on his 10th anniversary in the music industry.

The DMW founder recently marked his 10th year in the entertainment industry and it trended on social media platforms.

Fans, as well as celebrities sent in congratulatory messages and praised him for his consistency and resilience in the past 10 years.

However, a fan pointed out that most of the people who celebrated Davido were his fans and not his colleagues. The Twitter user insinuated that the bigwigs in the Nigerian entertainment industry snubbed Davido’s 10th anniversary.

Most of the praises Davido got for his 10 years anniversary came from his fans.. his colleagues out there acting all blind and shii,” the fan tweeted.

In reaction, Davido noted that he is not surprised because the lack of acknowledgement of his craft has been going on for a long time.

He wrote; “Nah today ? Lol”

Today marks 3 years from the fateful day YOU walked into my life @dewyoputa .

The day my dream came true. It’s been 3 years full of respect, love, laughter, and peace.

Some people say that the “honeymoon phase” of a relationship lasts for a short period of time, but I’ve realized that it can last as long as we want it to. Loving you is as easy as I can breathe.

There is no obstacle we cannot tackle.

As long as we continue to lead with Love and Respect, we will always win. I’m proud to have you as my significant other and I pray we continue to love each other till eternity”.

Happy Anniversary to US.”

Protests break out in Angola as country marks 60th anniversary of armed struggle

There is an outbreak of protests across Angola as the country marks the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the armed struggle with official acts and demonstrations on Friday.

In the Museum of Military History located in the center of the capital, Luanda, the national flag was raised and the anthem sang, followed by the deposition of flowers on the monument of the Unknown Soldier, in homage to all those who fought for the independence of Angola, achieved fifteen years later.

At the same time, elsewhere in the city, the National Police dispersed a demonstration with a hundred participants, in protest against the economic crisis and for political change.

According to the authorities, the demonstration did not meet the legal requirements and the participants committed several acts of vandalism, while the demonstrators claimed to have been surprised by the strong police apparatus.

The demonstrators also wanted to express their support for the inhabitants of Cafunfo, in the diamond region of Lunda Norte, where, on Saturday, the police suppressed an action they classified as separatist rebellion and which resulted in at least six deaths.

Some non-governmental organizations have denounced human rights violations while the government has ordered the opening of a judicial inquiry.
