Lady shows off bags of money she packed at Oba, Anambra (Video)

A lady who was lucky enough to be in the environment when money was raining at Oba, Anambra state, has showed off what she was able to pick.

In a video making rounds on social media, the lady emptied bags of money which she allegedly picked from the money shower at Obi Cubana’s mother’s burial.

Recall that a video of guests and bouncers at the funeral struggling to pick money surfaced on social media yesterday.

In the video, bouncers at the event abandoned their duty posts to join guests in picking money which was being sprayed at all corners

Well, the lady was said to be among those who packed naira notes into a bag.

Anambra comes to a standstill as socialite Obi Cubana lays mother to rest

Nigerian socialite and nightlife aficionado, Obi Cubana laid his mother to rest in Oba, Anambra State on Friday, July 16.

A-list Nigerian celebrities, such as D’Banj, Davido, Kcee and other noblemen of the nation attended the much-publicized funeral ceremony.

The well-attended funeral ceremony was dubbed the ‘burial ceremony of the year’ as it was attended by toasts of the society. Also, the funeral ceremony turned into a mini concert when Nigerian music superstars, Davido, Phyno, D’Banj and Kcee took to the stage to entertain the mammoth crowd.

Aside from the entertainers who enthralled the fans with jams and classic hits, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari was one of the dignitaries who attended the funeral ceremony.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police was seen posing with Obi Iyiegbu, better known as Obi Cubana, and others at the venue of the funeral.

Equally, an impressive echelon of dignitaries and affluent Nigerians were also present at the burial ceremony to honour Cubana’s late mother.

Inspector killed as gunmen attack police station in Anambra

Gunmen on Thursday, attacked Ojoto Police station in Idemili South local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to Daily Post, one Police Inspector was killed in the attack which took place in the afternoon.

It was gathered that policemen on duty, however, prevented the attackers from setting the station on fire.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, told Daily Post that he was planning to visit the area immediately and he would respond after the trip.

But a Senior Police Officer in the state, who spoke with journalists in confidence, confirmed the attack on the police station, adding “we lost one Inspector today again.”

Man flogged in public for beating up his mother in Anambra (Video)

Members of Ogidi community in Anambra state have been spotted flogging a young man for assaulting his mum.

The man identified as Sunday Maduegbunam Kosisochukwu was seen in an earlier video beating up his mother and shoving her around.

He was confronted by youths in the community after the video of him beating her went viral.

They asked him if the video was doctored and he admitted he’s the one in the video and it wasn’t doctored.

The young man was then tied to a tree and whipped publicly.

Police arrests scores of gays in Anambra

An undisclosed number of suspected gays were on Sunday, arrested by the police in the Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was learnt that the suspected gays were having a party in a hotel in the area.

It was also gathered that after trouble ensued at the party, a tip-off attracted the policemen from Ukpo Police Division in the state, who stormed the hotel and arrested scores of them.

Confirming the incident, a police source said, “The officers arrested an undisclosed number of them, mostly men of different age brackets.”

Also, an indigene of the community, who spoke under anonymity, corroborated the police source, “The gays were holding a party at the facility when trouble ensued, leading to the invitation of policemen from the Ukpo Police Division.

“The suspects attempted fleeing in all directions when the policemen arrived, leading to the destruction of ceilings and other items in the hotel.

“The suspects were taken to the command’s anti-cult office in Ukpo for investigation.”

However, when the state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, was contacted to get more information about the incident, he said the report had not been brought to his knowledge.

Anambra police smash another baby-making factory syndicate

The Anambra State Police Command has smashed another baby-making factory and child trafficking syndicate operating in the Oraifite community in the state.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Muhammed, who announced this in a statement on Wednesday, said the police uncovered the syndicate on Tuesday by operatives attached to the SIB and Area Command, Oraifite, coordinated by the Area Commander, ACP Afolabi Wilfred.

Muhammed said the police raided the house of one Melvina Uju Uba, located opposite Nnamdi Azikiwe Orthopedic Teaching Hospital, Oba, in Idemili South local government area and arrested 10 persons who reportedly ran the baby factory.

The police spokesman gave the names of the suspects as Edna Nnadi, 37, Ujunwa Nweke, 25, Izuchukwu Uba, 24, Chinaza Ibeh, 19, Peace Okon Effiong, 25, and Gift Collins, 20.

Others include Chimkaso Kingsley, 25, Happiness Monday, 18, Chioma Okonkwo, 25, and Uchechukwu Nwankwo, 18.

“The place was raided following credible information that teenage girls were being impregnated and the babies were sold out by human traffickers,” Muhammed said.

“During the operation, five newly born babies and three other children were rescued.

“The rescued children will be handed over to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Children’s and Women’s Affairs for proper care, while effort is being intensified to apprehend other accomplices in order to bring them to justice.”
