Men of the Ogun State Police command have arrested a 46-year-old man, Olusegun Oluwole, for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his daughter at Amolaso, in the Abeokuta area of the state.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect’s daughter was asleep when he sneaked into her room and reportedly raped her.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Sunday, said the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim at the Ibara Police Station.
Oyeyemi added that the victim, who was accompanied by some So-Safe-Corps’ men, reported that she was sleeping in a room at Amolaso, Abeokuta, when her father raped her around 11.30pm.
He said, “The victim said, having observed that others were fast asleep, the father suddenly grabbed her and forcefully had sex with her with a threat to kill her if she refused to allow him.
“Upon the report, the DPO Ibara division, CSP Bernard Egbondiya, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.
“On interrogation, the father of six, who confessed to the crime, pleaded for forgiveness, claiming not to know what came over him when he committed the crime.”
The PPRO, however, said the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution while the victim was taken to general hospital for medical treatment.
