U.S. Department of Justice investigating Trump’s actions surrounding January 6 as part of criminal probe into his bid to overturn the election.

The U.S. Department of Justice is reportedly investigating former President Donald Trump’s actions as part of its criminal probe on the January 6 Capitol attack,

According to The Washington Post, federal prosecutors have interviewed witnesses before a grand jury and asked them about conversations between Trump, his lawyers and members of his inner circle regarding a plot to replace Electoral College members with pro-Trump alternate electors in states President Joe Biden won.

They are also examining the actions surrounding Jan. 6, when thousands of Trump supporters, many armed, overran the Capitol on the day that Congress was to count the electoral ballots and affirm Biden’s victory in the 2020.

Sources told the publication that prosecutors have asked detailed questions about meetings Trump held in December 2020 and January 2021, gathering information on his campaign to pressure Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the election results, and what instructions – if any – Trump gave his team about the fake electors scheme.

That scheme was led by Trump’s election lawyers Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman, but prosecutors wanted to know the extent of the now ex-president’s involvement, The Post said.

They want to know what Trump told his allies to do as he sought to overturn the 2020 election result.

The Post also reported that investigators received the phone records of Trump’s former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

Two subpoenas obtained by The Post issued to two Arizona state lawmakers who posed as fake electors asked for communications with ‘any member, employee, or agent of Donald J. Trump or any organization advocating in favor of the 2020 re-election of Donald J. Trump, including “Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.”‘

On Monday, ABC News reported that Pence’s former Chief of Staff Marc Short was spotted leaving D.C. District Court on Friday, alongside his lawyer.

Sources told the network that Short testified before a grand jury, compelled by a subpoena, as part of the DOJ’s probe.

Additionally, Pence lawyer Greg Jacob also appeared before a grand jury, The Post said.

In an interview that aired Tuesday, Attorney General Merrick Garland did not rule out prosecuting Trump.

‘We intend to hold everyone, anyone who was criminally responsible for the events surrounding January 6, for any attempt to interfere with the lawful transfer of power from one administration to another, accountable,’ Garland told NBC’s Lester Holt. ‘That’s what we do.’

The DOJ probe is separate from the investigation being conducted by the January 6 House select committee – which may make criminal referals to the Justice Department as well, the top Republican on the panel, Rep. Liz Cheney, said in an interview last month.

‘The Justice Department has been doing the most wide-ranging investigation in its history and the committee is doing an enormously wide-ranging investigation as well,’ Garland said on NBC’s Nightly News.

Terrorists assembling weapons to attack Buhari’s state – NSCDC

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has raised the alarm over a planned attack on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s (retd.) state, Katsina, as well as Lagos, Federal Capital Territory, among others.

The NSCDC stated that Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa Province terrorists, from the intelligence it gathered, have mobilised their fighters and had equipped themselves with dangerous weapons like Anti-aircraft guns, general purpose machine guns, among others, in preparation for the attack on the state which the president of the country hails from.

These were contained in a leaked report addressed to all commands dated July 25 and sighted by our correspondent on Tuesday.

The report titled, “Re: Heightened plots by terrorists to stage coordinated attacks in parts of the country” was signed by the Deputy Commandant General Controller in charge of Operations, DD Mungadi.

It read, “We have received credible intelligence that Boko-Haram and the ISWAP terrorist groups have mobilised fighters and high calibre weapons particularly Rocket-propelled Grenade launchers, Anti-Aircraft guns, and General Purpose Machine Guns which they intend to deploy for the offensive in Katsina State.”

The report also hinted at other attacks by bandits groups in Lagos, Federal Capital Territory, Kaduna, and Zamfara states.

It added that the Commandant General had directed the state Commandants to put up measures to avert the attacks.

“In another development, two separate bandits groups are plotting coordinated attacks on North-West, North Central and South West (Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Kogi, FCT and Lagos respectively).

ASUU: Expect nationwide strike, NLC tells FG.

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, has said that the workers’ union will embark on a three-day nationwide strike if the Federal Government fails to accede to the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities after the ongoing two-day warning protest organised by the NLC.

Wabba, who spoke in an interview with Channels TV ‘Sunrise Daily’, also stated that the workers’ union embarked on a two-day protest against the ongoing ASUU strike not just as a show of solidarity, but because the strike directly affected the NLC.

He said, “The two-day warning strike is to call for attention for the issues to be resolved promptly. The next level is a three-day national warning strike if nothing has happened after the protest, to show our grievances.

“We are not on a solidarity action, we are affected directly.”

The NLC had organised the two-day protest after a series of failed negotiations between the FG and ASUU to resolve the strike action.

Wabba, who stated that the ongoing protest was a democratic norm which was constitutional and supported by the international charters, added that it was not illegal to carry out such demonstration on the streets.

He said, “These are democratic norms everywhere in the world. Even as an individual, you have the right to air your grievances.

“It is within the provision of our law. It is backed by the United Nations charter for human and peoples rights, African charter for human and peoples rights, and it is there in our constitution — sections 39 and 40.”

Since plans for the ongoing protest was announced by the NLC, the Minister for Information, Lai Mohammed, had alleged that the protest was illegal and would create anarchy in the country.

The Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, had also taunted the workers’ union, claiming erroneously that the protest was against international labour practices.

The Nigeria Police Force had also in its bid to defend the regime, demanded that the NLC should get a permit from the Force before embarking on the two-day warning-protest.

Responding to the claims by the authorities, Wabba said the court of law had pronounced that citizens did not need permission from the police or any authority to carry out protests.

He said, “Even the court has pronounced that you don’t require any permission. It is legal and within your fundamental human rights to protest issues.

“When people say it’s illegal, I think people should remember that no condition is permanent. We have had some of our current politicians join the NLC to press for similar actions in the past.”

Kogi NLC joins nationwide solidarity protest

The Kogi state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress, on Tuesday, staged a solidarity protest with the Academic Staff Union of Universities in line with the directive from the national body of the union.

Speaking at the Government House Lokoja, the NLC Chairman, Onuh Edoka, represented by his vice, Simeon Opaluwa Eleojo, said as parents who are paying the school fees of their children, they are feeling the pains of the federal government’s insensitivity which has caused untold hardship on parents and their children.

They also pointed out that the insensitivity on the part of the federal government to keep the students at home has worsened the nation’s insecurity.

He urged the federal government to quickly meet the demands of the tertiary institutions’ workers.

The NLC said that as the nation’s future leaders, keeping the students at home has added to the security threat the nation is currently facing, pointing out that an idle mind is usually the devil’s workshop.

He described the decision to keep mute over the workers’ demands as wicked and insensitive.

The union called on the federal government to immediately return the nation’s children who have been at home for six months to the classrooms, saying, “Enough is enough”.

The chapter disclosed that the strike action began on 14th February, 2022, requesting the intervention of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to call on the federal government.

The union explained that the strike action by the tertiary institutions workers was owing to the failure to meet the agreement reached and the dismay and reluctance of the Federal Government to meet with the agreement.

One of the highlights of the peaceful protests was a march through the Stella Obasanjo Library to the Government House, where a letter was handed over to the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who was represented by his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja, for onward delivery to the Federal Government.

Ganduje laments ASUU strike, promises governors’ intervention.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, on Tuesday, assured the Nigeria Labour Congress that the Nigeria Governors Forum would do everything possible to ensure an amicable resolution to the lingering crisis between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

He gave the assurance when he received members of the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state, who were at the Government House, protesting in solidarity with ASUU.

The governor, who lamented the prolonged crisis, said the NGF would prevail on the Federal Government in the area of advice so as to resolve the crisis with a view to saving the entire system from total collapse.

“We will prevail on the Federal Government in the area of advice because the crisis must be resolved to save the system.

“This crisis must be resolved to help save the system. We don’t want system collapse in this country at all,” Ganguje said.

He noted that the striking university lecturers “are in the strike action to save the system from collapsing.”

While lamenting the plight of students across the country for being idle all this while, he revealed that, “Myself and my colleagues from all the 36 states, irrespective of our party differences, are concerned about the prolonged strike action and we will put our heads together to bring an end to the crisis.”

The governor commended the labour members, students and others who participated in the protest for exhibiting maturity and high sense of responsibility in conducting the protest peacefully.

Ganduje also promised to forward the letter he received from the labour leaders to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, for onward submission to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd.) .

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Kano branch of the NLC, Kabiru Minjibir, said the protest was in compliance with the directive from the National Headquarters of the union to compel the government to do the needful.

He commended Ganduje for not joining some of his colleagues in no work no pay resolution against university lecturers.

“We really appreciate the state government under your able leadership, the people’s governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, for your magnanimous approach in not stopping the salary of the lecturers of the state universities.

“This shows you are an education-friendly governor,” Comrade Minjibir said.

Among those who took part in the peaceful protest were ASUU members, student bodies, civil society groups, youth organisations and human right activists, among others.

BBNaija star, Ike Onyema reacts to insinuations that his former lover, Mercy Eke, took care of him while they were dating.

BBNaija star Ike Onyema has reacted to insinuations that his ex girlfriend, Mercy Eke, took care of him while they were dating.

Mercy was on a show where she stated that she had dated someone she took care of. Other members of the show immediately responded saying they know who she was referring to.

The follow-up question was about her affair with Ike which Mercy immediately denied.

Ike has now denied claims that any woman has ever taken care of him. In a post shared on his Instagram page, Ike also dared any lady who claims to have taken care of him while they were together to provide receipts.

His post reads;

”I am responding to this, because it’s obvious that the producers of this podcast can’t pay for ads to promote the dead podcast, so as usual they look for who to attack to indirectly promote their dead podcast, well congratulations you have Triggered perfectly, for over two years my image and reputation have constantly been dragged to the mud, so it’s time to swim with pig’s.

I am making a bold statement that no lady whosoever has taken care of me. If anyone claim otherwise they should bring out receipts of one thing they have done. I have been quite because I don’t also want to expose so many people including the show, so I intentionally allowed myself to be ridiculed, but that era is over, people that can’t take care of their family coming out to chat shit about me

@nedu_wazobiafm and @prettymikeoflagos please be careful how involve yourself in things you have no idea of the background story. I respect the both of you but I would not hesitate to call you guys out if I’m being disrespected to please your principals and the bosses that hired you.

This should be the last time anyone would use me to count cheap scores…
I would start dropping receipts and exposing everyone if this continues, I have enough receipts to go around and everybody go collect, enough is enough!!!!!

A word is enough for the wise!!!!!

People I respect so much, even the guy on blonde hair, someone I call my friend and drink together with can comfortably sit on a podcast and chat shit about me, would go a long way to tell you about what the word friendship mean to people.
They keep forgetting that I blog and people randomly send me information about so many celebrities, even when I don’t ask, I just don’t want to ridicule anybody, but I know everything everyone is doing (Both dirty and clean), I just chose not to go down that line of trying to Humiliate them.
But I’m waiting for any of them to respond to me openly and we can now unveil cans of worm. I dare any of them to reply me or respond back…

Be careful who you call your friend that’s all I have to say for now!!

Have a productive day!!!”he wrote

22-year-old man killed by spinning helicopter blades while trying to take a selfie.

A 22-year-old Brit has been killed by a spinning helicopter blades while returning from a family holiday.

Jack Fenton was travelling back from Mykonos with three friends in the hired chopper as his parents followed behind when he was struck in the head by the craft’s high-speed rear rotor in Athens, Greece.

Local reports suggested he was taking a selfie when getting out of the helicopter.

Police have now arrested three people over the tragedy that took place at about 6.20pm yesterday July 25.

The pilot of the black Bell 407 craft said to be “deeply traumatised” by the incident and two ground technicians have been arrested as cops investigate.

Jack who is an Oxford Brookes student disembarked the chopper after it landed at the Superior Air helipad in Spata, unaware that a rotor was still spinning. It’s understood he walked towards the tail of the helicopter.

His fellow passengers and the pilot then reeled in horror as they saw a sweeping blade kill him instantly at around 6.20pm local time.

A police official, who identified the victim as Jack, told The Times:

“He was the first to disembark the Bell 407 helicopter in Athens and as he moved to the back, he was hit in the head by the aircraft’s small rear rotor.

“There was no chance of him surviving. His death was instantaneous.”

Cops are probing whether Jack, who went to the £7,740-a-year Sutton Valance School in Maidstone, Kent, was trying to take a selfie when he was struck.

A police source told The Sun;

“We are examining every eventuality, including the possibility of the boy going there to take a selfie in the excitement of the moment.”

The shocked pilot managed to radio the second craft with his wealthy parents on board and requested emergency permission to abort the landing.

Jack’s mum and dad Miguel who is head of marketing, sales and PR at the 400-acre visitor attraction The Hop Farm in Kent, were instead taken to Athens Airport.

A source told The Sun;

“The pilot saw what had happened and decided to spare the parents the sight of their son – it was horrendous.

“He flew on to another helipad at Athens where the couple were consoled as it was confirmed that the young man was dead.

“The cause is being investigated but it remains unclear why this happened – or was allowed to happen when rotor blades pose such an obvious danger.

“We are talking about a tragedy – an unprecedented tragedy – a tragedy that should never have happened.”

The helicopter’s pilot could face manslaughter charges if he was deemed to be at fault, Kalliakmanis told the Mega news channel.

Giorgos Kalliakmanis, the head of the Greek police union told Mega news channel;

“We want to see if the pilot informed the passengers to get off the helicopter.

“These propellers run for about two minutes from the time he turns the engine off unless he presses a button which stops them at 50 seconds.

“The helicopter door has no security, anyone who wants to open the door and get out.

“The preliminary investigation will look at whether the pilot informed them to get out when the propeller and engines stopped.”

The company that manages the helicopters has insisted that Jack and his fellow passengers were led to the safety of the reception area after getting off the chopper.

Workers at the helipad claim he turned around and returned to the runway as the craft was in the process of being shut down, reports Protothema.

Accident investigators probing the tragedy are questioning the chopper pilot as to why the rotors were not still or secured before passengers were allowed off.

Two airport officials and the pilot appeared before a prosecutor today July 26, to testify in connection with potential negligence charges.

The weather may have also contributed as high winds were reported across Greece as well as searing 40C heat on Monday.

Snake handler dies days after being strangled by his huge pet boa constrictor.

A snake handler has died days after his 18-foot-long pet boa constrictor wrapped itself around his neck.

Elliot Senseman, 27, of Fogelsville, Pennsylvania, USA, was pronounced dead in an area hospital on Sunday, July 24, after suffering from what the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office deemed accidental asphyxiation that caused an anoxic brain injury.

Police were called to Senseman’s home by a family member on Wednesday afternoon, July 20.

When they arrived, they found the 27-year-old unresponsive with his 18-foot boa constrictor wrapped around his body.

The snake’s head was far enough away from the man that officers decided to shoot the animal.

“Our officers responded and shot the snake with hopes of freeing the victim,”  Lt Peter Nickischer of the Upper Macungie Township Police told Lehigh Valley Live. He also said that police did not know the circumstances of how the attack occurred.

The police lieutenant said in his 19 years doing police work, he’s seen “nothing like this” and that the snake, which eventually died, was “very long, very thick.”

The creature reportedly did not die instantly and slithered away before it was euthanised.

Four days after the attack, Senseman died in hospital.

“My son was unique and kind and should still be with his family and friends,” Senseman’s mother, Heather, told Lehigh Valley Live.

She said her son often rescued snakes and that he “was still working with” the boa constrictor “because it was so aggressive couldn’t be placed yet.”

She said of her son: “He was experienced and would never handle that snake alone.

“He was only checking the enclosure and all appropriate measures were taken. Too many people get these snakes and can’t handle or take care of them. They shouldn’t be bred to be kept as pets. He wanted them to be in a habitat that was as close to their natural environments as possible since they couldn’t be put in the wild.”

A family member told The Daily Beast that Senseman began working with snakes when he was 10 and had experience handling them.

He’s been rescuing snakes for the last six years and was passionate about finding them a new home, the outlet reported.

“A lot of times the snakes were neglected or mistreated and needed medical care,” the relative told the outlet. “He would provide all of that.”

Along with the boa constrictor that killed him, Senseman had two other snakes that he had taken in at the time. In his previous home, the boa was abused and malnourished, according to The Daily Beast.

IPOB denies faction rumours , says Kanu remains leader.

The Indigenous People of Biafra has said that there is no faction in its movement and agitation, contrary to reports making the rounds of factions within the group.

In a statement on Tuesday, IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, insisted that Nnamdi Kanu remains the group’s only leader, adding that any persons claiming to be IPOB autopilot group is fake and should be ignored.

Powerful said IPOB has constantly announced that Simon Ekpa is not an IPOB member and people should disregard whatever he says in the group’s name.

He claimed that “autopiloters” are government-sponsored groups paid to infiltrate IPOB and create an impression that IPOB has factions.

He said, “It is on record that the Federal Government has in the past sponsored enemies of IPOB to create non-existing groups claiming to be genuine IPOB that later fizzled out and IPOB is still matching forward.

“IPOB is already used to these government agents and the latest group they call ‘Autopilot’. Let them jamboree with the government funds for the moment before they go the way of others.”

The group urged all the South-East people to join in the solidarity protest against the killings of innocent youths in Imo State.

It added that the state security agencies had killed too many people, and the people could not continue to remain mute.

They alleged that the state governor, Hope Uzodinma was on contract with the Federal Government to “slaughter” and “depopulate” the youths of Imo State youths in return for Supreme Court judgement that made him governor.

The statement read in part, “We the global movement and family of IPOB wish to draw the attention of Sahara Reporters news outlets and other media houses in Nigeria and the world that IPOB has no faction whatsoever.

“Kanu is the only leader in the IPOB. Therefore, any persons claiming to be IPOB autopilot group is totally fake and must be ignored. Either you’re IPOB or not.

“IPOB has constantly announced that Simon Ekpa is not an IPOB member and will never be because he has sold his soul to the devil and has bitten more than he can chew.

“Let these facts sink into all who care to understand, IPOB is only one body. IPOB has a presence in over 100 Nations. IPOB has only one leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB has an administrative body called the Directorate Of States headed by Mazi Chika Edoziem.

“In the absence of our leader, the Head of DOS takes charge of the global movement and family of IPOB. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in his several live broadcast, had consistently informed our people that DOS is in charge of this struggle while he leads.

“ESN is one and under the command of DOS in the absence of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Speaking on the said autopilot group, Powerful said, “As a double agent, Ekpa was paid to issue a jamboree and fallacious sit-at-home to discourage people from protesting the murder of 14 innocent youths in Awo-Mmamma.

“Autopilot is a government-sponsored group that has never given orders to Biafrans before, and we would not allow them to do that so long as IPOB exists.

“IPOB and ESN stand in solidarity with the youths and people of Imo State to ensure that the evil and murderous Ebubeagu is disbanded by the government, or they will push the people to an unbearable and unacceptable point that could compel them to taking laws into their hands to bring  the Ebubeagu murderous activities to an end.”

NLC protests in Ogun over ASUU strike.

Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress are protesting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, in solidarity with the strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The protest which is currently holding is also an opportunity for the NLC to bring the attention of the government to other issues affecting the nation.

The protesters, on Tuesday, carried placards with several inscriptions such as “Governor Dapo Abiodun, increase subvention of Tai Solarin University of Education” among others.

See some photos from the protest below:

The protesters marched from the NLC Secretariat at Leme en route popular Kuto market and are now on the way towards the government secretariat at Oke Mosan.

ASUU strike has entered its fifth month since the union downed tools on February 14, 2022, leaving millions of students hopless about resumption.

The NLC had therefore, last week directed its members to embark on a two-day protest today and tomorrow (Wednesday) over the strike.

Georgina Onuoha slams reports naming her as one of the Nollywood actresses who allegedly slept with Apostle Johnson Suleman.

Goergina Onuoha has slammed reports that she had an affair with Apostle Johnson Suleman and she is one of the Nollywood actresses who benefited financially from the pastor.

Unfounded rumours were circulated, naming some Nollywood actresses who have allegedly been side chics to the married pastor.

Most of those named have refused to dignify the report with a response.

However, Georgina took to instagram to slam the report as well as the “faceless cowards hiding behind keyboards” to spread false news.

She challeneged the “faceless” account to reveal the identity of the person behind the account while making such claims about her.

She pointed out that this isn’t the first time she’s been accused of being funded by a man. She recalled the accusation that she was a beneficiary of a Nigerian governor some years ago.

This allegation made people call her out and demand she returns the money the governor allegedly spent on her, she said.

She added that they are back making ‘baseless accusations’ and this time it involves a pastor.

She went on to curse those claiming she’s funded by men – first a governor and now a pastor.

She also addressed a 2017 report being circulated where she joined others in Nollywood to defend Apostle Suleman when he was accused of a sex scandal.

At the time, she said in defence of Suleman: “Where are all the Nollywood beneficiaries of this preacher? We all see your pictures with him. You all are now radio silence? May God have mercy on us all and may God heal all involved in this.

“Majority of our colleagues Male and Female are benefactors of this man’s goodness and kindness. Go through his events and videos you will see almost all of Nollywood around him. He is known for blessing actors with cars and starting business for them.

“He is a friend to majority of us including me. Majority of Nollywood players travel to his events home and abroad, people stalk him in towns and hotels wherever he lodges to preach or pray asking for prayers and help. He has supported majority of us. Seeing all these makes my heart bleed.”

Georgina explained why she defended him at the time.

She said she, and others in the movie industry, defended him because they are recipients of his kindness and generosity and not because she knows “the dealings of his private life”.

More tributes pour in for Nigerian soldier, Lieutenant Suleiman killed by bandits during an ambush in Abuja.

Nigerians have taken to social media to mourn a military officer killed by bandits during an ambush in Abuja on Monday, July 25.

The deceased identified as Lt. Jauro Ibrahim Suleiman joined the military three years ago after completing his NYSC.

Two soldiers and a Captain were killed by terrorists during the attack which occurred in the Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Sunday night.

The captain and the two soldiers were attached to the 7 Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army.

Taking to Facebook to mourn Suleiman, one of his friends, Abba Haruna, wrote;

”I knew Lt. Jauro Ibrahim Suleiman in 2011, U11ec ABU Zaria, since then, he’s been a good Freind. During our undergraduate days, we shared alot of good times together; we eat, play football, go swimming, study and even sometimes spend time at the social center. He was a part of some of the best people life gave to me.

Coming from a military family, it had been his dream to follow in his father’s footsteps by joining the military. One of the very few men i have seen so passionate about the uniform. About 3yrs ago, his prayers were answered.

In the military, his dedication made him a member of the presidential guard. I remember how, on democracy day, during the military parade at the eagles Square, the president stood right in front of him as though admiring the cuteness in his outfit.

On the 24th of July 2022, he and other members of the presidential guard were ambushed by a group of terrorists at Bwari, Abuja. Sadly, we lost him.

Lt. Jauro lost his life in defending our freedom and liberty. We pray Allah SWA accept him as a shaheed.

Please if u see this post, say a prayer for him. Ask Allah to forgive his short comings and excesses. Ask Allah to make him among the people of Jannah.

Like my freind and brother Abubakar Tanko said, “this is beyond failure of Buhari and insecurity, Nigeria is under attack, squarely”.

Ya Allah! Without doubt, we believe you know the perpetrators, the accomplice, the mind, and the corruption behind this utter injustice that has left our dear nation in mourning day after day. Ya Allah! If it is for something bad we doing, forgive us. Ya Allah! Make these days go away. In ur most sacred names we pray. Amen”

Former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, also condoled with the father of the deceased, Colonel Babanawa on the death of his son.
