Nnamdi Kanu declared wanted, N100 million bounty placed on him

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has been declared wanted by a northern group.

The group known as Northern Consensus Movement (NCM), declared Kanu wanted over the killings and destruction of properties owned by northerners in the South- East.

President of the group, Dr. Auwal Abdullahi, during a press conference on Thursday also placed a N100 million bounty on Kanu.

He said the IPOB leader should be captured and brought to them for onward handing over to security agents.

Abdullahi accused Kanu of using IPOB and the Eastern Security Network, ESN, to attack Northerners residing in the Southeast.

He said; “We are declaring Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB and ESN wanted for the killings, destructions of properties of Northerners residing and undertaking their lawful businesses in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.

“We call on all countries of the world to respect our sovereignty as a nation. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, is the man and brain behind the killings and destruction of properties belonging to innocent northerners residing in South-Eastern Nigeria carrying out their legitimate businesses, using his proscribed terrorist organization, IPOB/ESN.

Northern Consensus Movement with these organizations has placed a bounty of N100 million as an offer to anyone who can produce Nnamdi Kanu alive, hale and hearty to us for onward delivery to security agencies for continuous prosecution.”

The group urged the United States, and German governments to repatriate Kanu back to Nigeria.

I’m paying Nigerians back for their love for me – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his commitment to serve Nigeria is a payback for the love Nigerians have shown him.

A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said Buhari made the statement at the palace of Shehu of Borno while on a visit to the state on Thursday.

He said; “My commitment to serve Nigerians is a payback for the love shown to me.

“I started my political adventure in Maiduguri and I always look forward to coming here.”

The president also visited troops in Operation HADIN KAI at the Maimalari Cantonment, Borno state.

He commended the troops for defending the country against insurgents, adding that there is still much work to be done to restore peace to war ravaged North East.

“Your courage and gallantry will continue to inspire others, as they echo into the future.

“While I commend your resilience, let me remind you that there is still a lot of work to be done, to completely restore peace to the North-East, stem the activities of armed bandits in the North-West and North-Central, as well as deal with other security challenges across the country,” he said.

No harm must befall IPOB’s lawyer, Ejiofor – Sunday Igboho

Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho, real name Sunday Adeyemo, has warned that  no harm must befall the lawyer for the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor.

Igboho spoke through a statement released by his media aide, Olayomi Koiki on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.

The statement said Ejiofor is not only a lawyer for IPOB and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu but a lawyer of former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, Sunday Igboho and the Yoruba agitators.

It read; “Chief Sunday Igboho has waited for days for a possible reaction from the relevant security agencies on the reason for the bloody and violent invasion on the Anambra state country home of Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor’s but all to no avail.

“Those that attacked his home tried to assassinate him and in the process, they killed his personal assistant and several other people in his home and burnt their bodies to ashes. They did this as Barrister watched the whole episode helplessly from where he hid in his home.

”For the records, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor is not only the lawyer to IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu but also a lawyer to our leader Chief Sunday Adeyemo and our group. He is also a personal lawyer to our dear brother and highly respected uncle, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation and he is a friend and supporter of the sons and daughters of Oduduwa.

“On many occasions, he has stood in for us and our members, and today we are standing in for him. We have said it before and we say it again that any attack on IPOB or the people of the East is an attack on us. We stand shoulder to shoulder with them in this battle.

“It is on the strength of these hard facts that we wish to warn the relevant security agencies that if anything onward happens to Barrister Ejiofor that the consequences will be serious, and no one directly or indirectly connected with this desperate hunt for innocent life, will go scot-free.

We know the individuals who are funding this whole thing and we wish to put it on record that this is the second time they tried to take our lawyer’s life. It must be the last. Such an attempt must never happen to him again.

“We demand that all Barrister Ejiofor’s domestic staff that were abducted during this bloody attack on his peaceful home be released by the security agencies without further ado.

“We counsel for peaceful co-existence. Let wise counsel prevail.”

Three soldiers, 7 ISWAP fighters killed as terrorists attack military base in Borno ahead of Buhari’s visit

Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants on Tuesday invaded a military formation in Kwamdi village, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno state, razing it to the ground.

Damboa LGA is located in Southern Borno with a distance of 87km from Maiduguri.

According to SaharaReporters, three soldiers were killed during the attack while about seven members of ISWAP also lost their lives.

The militants were said to have carted away weapons belonging to the military during a gun duel.

Reports say the fighters stormed the area in 10 utility vehicles, and burnt down one Ammour Personal Carrier (APC) and a gun truck.

According to a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), Hamidu Abu, the deadly group targeted soldiers camp but not residents.

He added that the base was razed down as several valuables were stolen by the assailants.

The attack comes two days to the planned visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the State, which is the first time he will be visiting the state since last year’s incident.

In February 2020, residents of the state booed the President as his convoy drove in and when it was leaving Maiduguri, state capital, during a condolence visit.

BREAKING: Victory For Ondo Governor, Akeredolu As Appeal Court Dismisses Jegede’s Petition.

The Court of Appeal in Akure, Ondo State has dismissed the petition filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede in the October 2020 governorship election that brought in Rotimi Akeredolu as governor.

Akeredolu is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and won on that platform.

Reading the lead judgment, Justice Theresa Ngolika Orji-Abadua, who delivered the judgement via Zoom described the case filed by Jegede as lacking merit.

Jegede’s counsel, Oyeachi Ikpeazu (SAN) had earlier approached the Appeal Court, saying Mr Akeredolu’s nomination was not constitutional.
This came after an election petition tribunal, led by Justice Umar Abubakar, ruled on April 20, 2021 that the qualification of the APC candidate and his deputy were not a pre-election matter, but a constitutional matter, which is not within its jurisdiction.

“The issue raised therein in this petition are settled issues of internal affairs and Management of a political party which this tribunal has no jurisdiction,” the tribunal said then.

This was in accordance with the argument of the counsel for Mr Akeredolu, and the electoral body INEC.

Boko Haram thrives in Nigeria due to instability in Libya – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said the Boko Haram menace in Nigeria is due to the instability in Libya.

Buhari made the remark when he received the new Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mr Mahamat Saleh Annadif, a Chadian, at the State House on Tuesday.

He urged countries in the West African sub-region and the Sahel to team up against insecurity.

A statement released on Tuesday, quoted the president as saying: “You are our neighbour. You have vast experience on matters affecting the Sahel, having served for five years in Mali. I hope you will get the countries to work together to confront the issues affecting them.”A statement released on Tuesday, quoted the president as saying: “You are our neighbour. You have vast experience on matters affecting the Sahel, having served for five years in Mali. I hope you will get the countries to work together to confront the issues affecting them.”

Describing the problems as “enormous; ”Buhari noted that “Boko Haram has exerted a heavy toll in terms of lives and resources on Nigeria and some neighbouring countries, while Mali equally has a large swathe of the country occupied by militants.

“I hope under the auspices of UNOWAS, you will help get the problems sorted out. Most of them have to do with the instability in Libya, and it affects all of us.”

Buhari promised Nigeria’s support to the Special representative to help him succeed in his assignment.

On his part, Annadif said he was visiting shortly after his appointment because he recognized the crucial role of Nigeria in West Africa.

He said he was quite familiar with the problems of the Sahel region and would depend on the help of Nigeria to succeed.

Governors to be blamed for Nigeria’s problems – President Buhari’s aide

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Niger Delta affairs, Ita Enang has said that governors are to be blamed for some of the challenges being plaguing the country.

He stated this an interview on NTA on Monday, the Presidential aide alleged that governors in the country have exercised powers beyond what the constitution envisaged for them.

Enang further said that if funds meant for local governments are disbursed, the challenges currently being witnessed across the country will be curbed.

He said; “The governors have exercised so much powers that are beyond what the constitution envisaged for them — beyond what the law gave to them.

“The president has kept within his powers as president and does not interfere with the funds of the state governments while the governors have interfered and kidnapped the funds of the local governments through what is called the state/local government joint account.

“They don’t even give to the local governments the funds that they realise as internally generated revenue, which is why the joint account was made.

“Now, the insecurity problem we have today, the governors cannot escape the criticism of the people because everybody is a witness.

If the governors allow the funds of the local governments to get to the local governments, they would have been able to at least capture within their net, certain persons of certain class at that local government level. This way a lot of ill-happenings in the country will be curbed.

Restructuring: Nigeria should have six Vice Presidents – Umahi

Ebonyi state governor, Dave Umahi, has said that Nigeria needs to be restructured in a way that each geo-political zone will produce its own Vice President.

Umahi stated this when he appeared on Channels TV on Monday, adding that the adoption of six Vice Presidents will quell the rising “tension” in the country.

When asked about his opinion on the lingering debate on restructuring, the governor opined that more powers should go to the states.

Well, I have a different view about this restructuring thing. My position about restructuring — for example: there are certain valid suggestions that have been made, to have six vice-presidents in the country.

“Each one is kind of coming from each of the geo-political zones. Tension will go down. This is very important.

“Now, I will recommend administrative restructuring, which is making sub-national governments to be strengthened devolving power and responsibilities to sub-national governments; abolishing the local governments,” he said.

The call for restructuring of Nigeria has become very loud in different quarters as some sections of the country feel they are being marginalized.

The National Assembly is currently in the process of reviewing the 1999 constitution but some experts feel the move would not bring the needed solutions to Nigeria’s problems, calling for a totally new constitution.

Nigeria needs leaders that can unite the country – VP Osinbajo

Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has said only proactive leaders can solve the challenges bedeviling the country.

A statement by the Vice President’s spokesman, Laolu Akande said Osinbajo made the comment on Monday, when he paid a courtesy visit to Abdulwasiu Lawal, Oniru of Iruland, in Lagos.

He said; “Our country needs all the leaders — the best leaders, the most proactive leaders, leaders prepared to bring the country together.

“Lagos is a microcosm of Nigeria. Everybody is here. If things work out well here, things will be okay in the country.

“I am sure your role here is that of someone who brings together communities — not just Yorubas, but everybody.

“And I can see that from your choice of chiefs, you have gone to other parts, and I think this is the attitude of great leaders.

“You should know that you are always in my prayers, because I believe that your role is crucial, not just for the development of this state, but for the whole country.

“Today, you cannot relegate traditional rulers because of the exposure and education of those who occupy that position.”

Biafra, Oduduwa have formed joint force to protect the south – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), says the agitators of Biafra and Oduduwa republics have joined resources to forge a united front for their fight against Fulani herdsmen and other criminal elements.

IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, speaking on behalf of the joint group, disclosed that they are training their personnel together to improve their skills and secure Southern Nigeria.

In a statement on Monday, the spokesman stated that an attack on one of the secessionist group would be seen as an attack on the other.

The statement read: “This is to put the Nigerian Government and her security agencies in Nigeria on notice that Biafra and Oduduwa have further strengthened their bond as one people, following the joint training of personnel from both sides.

These joint volunteer force will secure the territories of Southern Nigeria against ‘foreign Fulani terrorists and any unwarranted aggression from any external force’.

“Oduduwa and Biafra Volunteer Force demand an immediate end to the ongoing genocide against the people of Biafra and immediate demilitarisation of Biafraland as we are now ready to defend our territories against aggression. The killing and abduction in Biafra and Oduduwa land must stop immediately.

We reiterate that an attack on Oduduwa land is an attack on Biafra and an attack on Biafra is an attack on Oduduwa. This is the bond the Fulanis tried for many years to destroy but today, the new generation of Oduduwa and Biafra have risen to say no to divide and rule. We are on the threshold of history because we are stronger together.

“Today we have trained together, dined together, and drunk together. Should duty call for it, we shall die together in defense of the entire South. We shall defend our land together, this is historic day for both nations.”

2023: No better youth to lead Nigeria than Yahaya Bello – Mikel Obi

Nigerian footballer and former Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has said that there is a need for youth leadership in Nigeria.

He stated this while on a courtesy visit to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi on Sunday in Abuja.

Obi said that it was time for the Youths to come out and take leadership positions across all boards for the betterment of Nigeria.

He pledged support for Bello’s political aspirations, adding that youths should be given a chance to get the change Nigerians clamour for.

He also lauded Bello for his achievement in Kogi in the areas of security, healthcare, infrastructure, education and agriculture.

The soccer star noted that such efforts when impacted at a higher level would bring further development for Nigeria.

“It is an honour for me to finally meet his Excellency personally after all the good things I have heard and read about him from not just the people of Kogi State but from Nigerians.

“My main aim is to come here to show my appreciation and to thank him for all the things he has been doing for the people and also to support him in whatever future political positions he wants to go into.

“I will like to be there to support him, to be there by his side through this journey for him to achieve whatever he wants which is for the betterment of Nigeria.

“What better person to lead the youths than him, because he has been doing all these good works and that is why I am here to see whatever way I can come in.

“To get the youths together to know and see how we can make things better for our country and how we can align to achieve all that”, Obi said.

Responding, Bello thanked Obi for the visit and his pledge to support the course for youth leadership.

He reiterated that it was time for the youths to take the opportunity that had presented itself.

Ogun governor takes photos of his achievements to Buhari in Abuja

Ogun state governor Dapo Abiodun, has once again visited President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

This comes barely three days after Buhari revealed that he sent back two Southwest governors who visited him over farmers/herders clashes.

This time, Abiodun was in Abuja on a working visit to the President, as he showed him photos of his projects.

In pictures made available to journalists, Governor Abiodun was seen as he showed the pictures to President Buhari.

Abiodun was in the villa with one of his aides, Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, on Sunday.

Buhari, Ghana, Ivory Coast Presidents will be removed – Prophet Okikijesu

Founder, Christ Apostolic Miracle Ministry, Apostle Paul Okikijesu has said that God is about to reject the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the cleric, God said that if the president refuses to change, He will reject his government just like He rejected the government of biblical character, King Saul.

“Thus says the Lord: If the President refuses to quickly make amendments during this period, I will change hands concerning his government, says the Lord God of hosts,” he said.

Speaking further, Apostle Okikijesu said that the actions of the Presidents of Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Ghana do not please God.

He stated; “Thus says the Lord: If these leaders refuse to take steps of rectification, My judgment will come upon them mightily.

“If they refuse to pay attention to the voice of I the Lord from the mouths of the religious advisers; if they elevate humans or idols more than I the Lord; then the judgment of I the Lord will come upon them and I the Lord will work with a harsh judgment hand.

“They will not be able to continue their tenure because their position will be given to their neighbors that are better than them. That is, the people who will occupy their posts are beside them; the positions will be taken away from them, says the Lord God of hosts, unless they repent and amend their ways.

They should write down this period; if they refuse to take steps of rectification; if they refuse to turn to I the Lord; if they refuse to turn to the God of heavens who is the God of the Hebrews; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; if they refuse to ask the religious advisers who are filled with the Holy Spirit, to inquire what the Lord wants and expects from their governance. If they refuse to take all these steps, then, they will be removed from office, and their positions will be given to their neighbors who are better than them.

They will lose their positions, and the judgment of I the Lord will come upon them. They will witness a severe hand of judgment; because what I the Lord had spoken concerning their souls will happen, so they should believe that there is no powerful being that has power over his/her own soul.

“Thus says the Lord: I the Lord is the owner of the souls of these Presidents, and I the Lord can ask for their souls anytime that I like; with no one who can obstruct or delay me.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: It is not Apostle Paul Okikijesu who owns the souls of these Presidents, but it is I the Lord God of hosts who is God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Israel. I, the God of their forefathers is the One who owns their souls. I the Lord can ask for their souls anytime that I like, and their posts will be given to their neighbors who are better than them”.

Nigerian Army begs Boko Haram, ISWAP for reconciliation

The Nigerian Army has begged Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists to seek forgiveness and reconciliation, saying soldiers and the public are not happy people are dying.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, Brigadier General A.A. Eyitayo, made the appeal at a feast organised for journalists by the Army on Sunday in Maiduguri.

Eyitayo, who is also the commander of Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, noted that the recent military onslaught against the insurgents dealt a decisive blow on the terrorists leaving their remnants in disarray.

He, however, pointed out that the Nigerian military was not happy about the bloody insurgency.

According to the Army commander, the reconciliatory move would avail insurgents the opportunity to enjoy rehabilitation and acquire skills to enable them to live a useful life in society.

The GOC also lauded the contributions of the media in the counter-insurgency campaign and urged it to enlighten the insurgents to see the light and repent from their wasteful ventures.

“We are not here for bloodletting. Nobody is happy that people are dying.

“Some of them (insurgents) are listening to the media, so it is good for us to appeal to them through the media to shun violence, turn up to seek forgiveness and reconciliation,” Eyitayo said.

According to him, the feast with journalists was to show appreciation of the media reportage of military operations in the state.

“For the past three months since I assumed duty in Maiduguri in this capacity, there has never been any bad report.

“This is to appreciate the media for positive reportage,” he said.

On his part, Mohammed Ibrahim, Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Borno, commended the GOC for carrying the media along and assured him of more support and cooperation.

Mohammed also lauded the military and other security agencies involved in the fight against insurgency for their sacrifices. He urged the military not to relent, adding that North-East residents were behind them.

Nigeria cannot afford funds to revive education – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said the federal government cannot afford the amount of funding needed to revive the country’s educational system.

Buhari spoke on Saturday at the 49th convocation ceremony of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN.

He also said the competition for funds had become keener because of the recent increase in the number of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The President said the financial situation had been worsened by the global economic downturn, which also affected the national revenue.

Buhari, who was represented at the ceremony by the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, however, said his administration was committed to addressing the needs of tertiary institutions through budgetary allocations to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).

“I am optimistic that the on-going drive to diversify the national economy will provide the government with additional resources to improve funding for the education system,” he said.

The president said the universities should also leverage other funding sources, such as from alumni, friends, the private sector, institutional linkages, and research grants, to attract additional revenue for infrastructure, research, and development.

“We must also address the problems of poor work ethics and the albatross of prolonged and recurrent industrial actions by staff of universities,” the president stated.

Buhari advised academic institutions across the country to embark on the kind of innovative research that could help boost production and diversify the economy.

“Our universities must continue to emphasise training in entrepreneurship so school leavers and graduates are able to become job creators instead of perennial job seekers,” he said.

On his part, Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, said the government should make effort to address the perennial challenge of poverty and inequality in the country or risk losing the youth to crime.

Amaechi, who delivered the 49th convocation lecture of the university, stated that the series of protests held across the country of late, such as #ENDSARS, were as a result of increasing poverty and disaffection on the part of the citizens.

Although, the current administration has introduced a number of programmes to help eradicate poverty, such as Transport Track for individuals who were into the transportation business, several Nigerians are yet to be lifted out of poverty,” the minister said.

He stated that policies should be focused on the rural majority, and targeted at giving the citizens a good life and lifting them out of poverty.

I’m prepared to lay down my life for Nigeria – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari says he was prepared to lay down his life for the betterment of the country when he joined the Nigerian Army.

Buhari who stated this in his speech in commemoration of the June 12 Democracy Day on Saturday, expressed optimism that the country would surmount the current security and economic challenges bedeviling it.

According to the president, his administration is working hard to ensure that the killings in many part of the country come to an end.

He appreciated Nigerians for their support and patience despite the challenges, stressing that the country will come out of the current situation stronger.

He said; “Overcoming the present challenges is but one of a necessary process that we have to undergo as a nation so that we can come out stronger.

“The day I joined the Nigerian Army, I was prepared to lay down my life for Nigeria.”

We are ready to have open discussion with Nigerian government – Twitter

Twitter on Friday, said it had informed Nigerian government that it was ready for open discussion over the suspension of the microblogging and social networking service by the West African country.

It made this known in a statement issued by Twitter Policy, adding that it will continue to advocate for free and open internet everywhere.

”Today marks one week since Twitter was blocked in Nigeria. We have informed the Nigerian government that we are ready to meet for an open discussion to address mutual concerns and see the service restored.”

“We remain advocates for the free and #OpenInternet everywhere. #KeepitOn”, Twitter Policy said.

The statement came two days after Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said Twitter had reached out to have discussions concerning the ban.

#June12Protest : Any protesters we see will have themselves to blame – Kogi government

The Kogi State Government has warned that the state will not tolerate any protest on Saturday, June 12.

It said protesters must be ready to face the full wrath of the law.

Though the State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara, said no group of persons had indicated interest in protesting, he still warned prospective protesters on Friday to stay away from Kogi, while briefing journalists on the proposed nationwide protest slated for June 12, Democracy Day.

He said, “Available data before us has shown that Kogi is the safest state in Nigeria. As we feel the pulse of the nation, we narrow it to Kogi. The pulse of the nation right now is that there are so many online reports of a nationwide protest on June 12th 2021.

We have looked at it, and we have done our check through the Commissioner of Police, and there is no association, group or individuals that have applied for permission to protest, or carry out any walk. The police have not granted any permission.

“I have cross-checked with other security agencies, and we have seen that as a government, there is no reason for anyone to come out in Kogi or in any part of the State to protest on Saturday June 12.

“It is a known fact that the state has remained peaceful. When it was COVID-19 time, the government did not shut down the state. We continued with our legitimate business.

“When it was the time for EndSARS, Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello came out to support the youths but the state didn’t join the EndSARS protest. This is because the government is with the people. If we are enjoying unlimited security in the state compared to what we are seeing in other parts of the country, it is important we give peace a chance.

“I have also cross-checked with the student body and they met with the Commissioner of Police on Wednesday and they stated categorically that they won’t be part of the protest. Any youth we see tomorrow Saturday coming out to protest should have himself to blame. The governor is not going to allow anyone to disrupt the peace we are enjoying in Kogi State.”

“It is not that the challenges we are having in other states, we are not feeling them here, but the government is making a serious effort to nip them before they emanate. Just three days ago, three suspects with army uniform came out in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, the security agency came out and confronted them, and they brought them down.

”The Government will keep on appreciating what the people of Kogi State are doing. Giving us relevant information, as well as supporting the security agencies will go a long way in combating insecurities. Let no one obstruct businesses, or obstruct movement of people. This is a warning. I have instructed the security agencies. If you see them patrolling, don’t be afraid. They are only going out to keep peace. People should continue their normal businesses.”

I don’t like when governors make promises but don’t perform – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari says he does not like when governors make promises during campaign but end up not performing well after winning elections.

Buhari who stated this in an interview with ARISE TV on Thursday, June 10, challenged governors to look inward towards finding solutions to security challenges plaguing their states, particularly those afflicted by killer herdsmen.

The President disclosed that two South-West governors visited him over the destruction of farms in their states by herdsmen.

He said; “I asked them what happened to the grassroots security panels where traditional rulers to local governments who meet regularly to identify the root of their problems and identify crooks within their environment and apprehend the criminals.

Who destroyed this system? Go back and fix it. Give your people sense of belongings. I don’t like it when people campaign to become governors, and people trusted them with their votes, and after winning, they can’t perform.

“They’re trying to push responsibilities to others. We have three tiers of government: federal, state, and local.’’

On devolution of powers, Buhari frowned upon politicians deliberately destroying the local government system.

Devolution of powers, you have to define it. Well, actually, the local government system has been killed. The federal, state, and local governments if they agree to flow properly we won’t have all these problems.

“But the problem is the local government has been virtually killed, and this is not good for this country because those who became the local government chairmen have been compromised. If your local government is entitled to receive 300 million and later you are only given 100 million, and the chairman will keep quiet. Is that how we will continue?” he said.
