Two men identified as Isah Abdulkabir and Daniel Emmanuel have been arraigned before an Oyo State Magistrates’ Court at Iyaganku, Ibadan, by the police for allegedly manhandling corpse of one Patrick Alexandra.

The defendants who were arraigned on charges bordering on conspiracy and misconduct in form of ‘manhandling of a corpse’, committed the alleged offence around 2pm on September 19, 2022, in the Odogbo area of Ibadan.

Prosecuting counsel for the police, Foluke Adedosu, said the suspects indecently and improperly interfered with the corpse by dumping it in a shop, an offence contrary to sections 516 and 242 (1) (b) of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.

After the suspects pleaded not guilty to the charge, the magistrate, O.A. Enilolobo, admitted them to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.

The case was adjourned till February 21, 2023 for hearing.

Apostle Johnson Suleman has criticised his colleagues who “judged” gospel singer Sammie Okposo when he was involved in a scandal but are now posting his photos to mourn him following his death.

Suleman said Okposo told him what pastors did to him and they both wept.

He then went on to wish the late singer peaceful repose.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokepserson of Lagos police command has slammed a female Twitter user who demanded a refund after some police officers allegedly took N10k bail from a person she reported to them.

@_peesee revealed that the bail was paid at Isheri police station, even after telling the police officers there that bail is free.

Benjamin who reacted to the claim, noted that the lady’s tweet shows she was never forced, harassed or bullied. He also stated that she is “part of the problem” for not calling the DPO or DCO.

The lady responded by saying that she withdrew the case after the police demanded for money. She also asked why the police would demand for money before doing their job.

Responding to this, Benjamin wrote; Why shouldn’t the DPO be called? Every organization has reporting/complaint channels in case you’re not satisfied with their service. You refused to take advantage of that. They report to a superior. And you were a call away.

A seven-year-old girl was murdered by a suspected ritualist at Kilani street, Iyana Iyesi in Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State on Thursday, November 24.

According to residents of the area, the victim was sent on an errand by her mother’s neighbour, to get her something from the house, when she was killed.

It was gathered that when the girl entered the house, the suspected ritualist, who had hidden somewhere in the building, attacked her and smashed her head with a pestle.

The girl’s cry for help attracted the neighbour’s attention, but she was dead before anybody could arrive at the scene.

The residents claim the suspect who is a ritualist had been hibernating in an empty building in the area.

“When we searched further, we discovered that the man had charms and a goat hidden in an empty building close to his victim’s house.

When we got there, we saw the charm and a goat. The goat attacked one of us, but it was later killed.

This is a sad occurrence” a resident of the area said The state police command is yet to comment on this development.

Governor Hope Uzodimma has sacked the Vice Chancellor, Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo, Prof Patrick Ekezie Egbule.

In a statement signed on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, by the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Chief Cosmas Iwu, the Governor approved the appointment of Prof Christopher Chiedozie Eze, as Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution.

“The Executive Governor of imo state, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma has approved the immediate removal of Prof Patrick Egbule as the Acting Vice Chancellor of imo state University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences,Umuagwo,” the statement read.

“Consequently, in accordance with the law establishing the university, His Excellency has approved the immediate appointment of Prof Christopher Chiedozie Eze as the Acting Vice Chancellor of imo state University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo.

“While His Excellency wishes the former acting Vice Chancellor well in his future endeavours, he charges the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Chiedozie Eze to apply himself to the highest standards in the administration of the young institution.”

The Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele, has said that restrictions will be imposed on large cash withdrawals.

He said this on Wednesday at the unveiling of the newly-redesigned Naira notes at the State House.

“We will go forward to insist that cashless will be nationwide. We will restrict the volume of cash that people will withdraw over the counter.

If you need to withdraw large volume of cash, you will fill uncountable forms,” Emefiele vowed.
