DNA confirmed I’m not the biological father of my ex-wife’s three children –Judge

A judge at the Delta State High Court, Justice Anthony Ezonfade Okorodas, has revealed that the three children he thought he had with his ex-wife, Barr. Celia Juliet Ototo, do not belong to him after all.

The judge, who disclosed this in a statement dated January 28, 2021, said the true situation about the children’s paternity was confirmed by a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test conducted on the kids recently.

Okorodas pointed out that he discovered the truth about the children’s paternity 11 years after the separation from his estranged wife.

The judge said: “I have taken the decision to address the press in respect of certain traumatic developments that have arisen between me and my ex-wife, Barr. Celia Juliet Ototo of the Ototo Family of Ovom in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. It is now nearly 11 years since our separation and divorce.

“This press statement is important in order to prevent damaging speculations, half-truths and outright lies from persons who may want to cash in on the tragedy that has befallen my home.

“Sometime during the Coronavirus lockdown early last year, I received information from an anonymous source that indicated that the last of the three children from my previous marriage was in fact not my biological child. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions at the time, I had to wait until August 2020 to carry out a DNA test. The DNA test result which came out in September 2020 confirmed that I was not the biological father of the child.

“Consequently, I convened a joint meeting between my extended family on the one side and Celia’s paternal and maternal families (i.e., the Ototo Family of Ovom Town and the Agbagidi Family of Yenagoa Town) on the other side, where I confronted her with the paternity fraud allegation. Although she initially strongly insisted that I was the biological father, she has since confessed to having the child with another man during the course of our marriage.

“This repulsive act of my ex-wife prompted me to conduct DNA tests in respect of the two other children. A few days ago, the results came out. Sadly, none of them is my biological child.

“This abomination has caused excruciating mental trauma to me, my present wife, Barr. (Mrs) Ebi Okorodas and all of the innocent children involved. This is particularly so for Ebi, who has had to agree to having DNA tests on the four children of our own marriage. Thankfully, the test results confirm each of them to be my biological child.

“It is important to state that Celia walked away from the marriage when her youngest child (who is now 17 years of age) was just six years old. Since then, all of her children have lived with my wife, Ebi and I, and we have been wholly responsible for their wellbeing and education. Friends who are close to my family would readily attest to the fact that unless specifically informed, no one could tell that the children were not the biological children of my present wife.

“Ebi and I would continue to support the children in any way that we can. Indeed, even after the release of the first DNA test result which proved that I was not the biological father of the last child, we have continued to pay for his education in a private boarding school. The two other children are university undergraduates. The first, a female, will be a graduate later this year, and the second will soon enter his 4th year of study. We pray for them to overcome the trauma and become responsible citizens of our country.

“For Celia and her boyfriend or boyfriends, we leave them to their conscience. Thank you very much.”

OPC backs IPOB’s Eastern Security Network, wants govs to give support

The Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has called on governors of Sout-East states to back the Eastern Security Network (ESN) established by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), so that criminals masquerading as herdsmen could be flushed out.

The OPC, in a statement issued at the weekend by its Publicity Secretary, Yinka Oguntimehin, also threw its weight behind the South-West Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, noting that with the level of commitment shown by the Amotekun corps, issues of insecurity in the region would soon be a thing of the past.

According to the group, with the level of commitment exhibited so far in Oyo and Osun states, Amotekun will soon rid the South-West of all bad elements, including killer herdsmen and kidnappers.

Oguntimehin said “Their recent feat in Iddo was also commendable, however, I am using this opportunity to call on the south East governors to back the Eastern Security Network (ESN) to come up with a lasting approach like that of the South West to rid the region of criminals masquerading as herdsmen.

“Now that the southwest is doing everything that is necessary to rid the region of criminal elements, including killer herdsmen, and kidnappers, the South-East remains their next target and destination for destruction. So it is advisable for the governors of the south East to enforce a better approach and modalities for securing the region using the Eastern Security Network(ESN)”

Continuing, the OPC spokesman noted that only true federalism anchored on regionalism remain the best option for the growth and development of the country.

Commending the efforts of the leaderships of corps in Oyo and Osun, Oguntimehin said there are hopes that the security challenges in the region will soon become a thing of the past.

He said: “We need to commend the leaders of the group for their commitment to the southwest. It is obvious that the southwest security outfits have all it takes to flush out the bad elements in the region. Last year Amotekun corps intercepted 14 Almajarai hidden in vehicle container in Osun

“The Almajarai, according to the reports hid in the container of a moving vehicle at Ikire, Irewole local government area, Osun State. The corps stopped them at a checkpoint, forced the driver of the vehicle to open the container only to see 14 Almajarai hiding in the container.

“The tendency for Nigeria to be great as a country is high if we can restructure the country, using true federalism on the basis of regionalism. It is the best approach for us now because all the problems associated with insecurity, political, economic, social issues and religion, will surely be addressed once and for all, and the component units that made up the the country will grow and develop independently without looking up to Abuja for solutions, especially on problems that had to do with insecurity”, he said.

Police arrests members of kidnap gang specializing in abducting, raping women

Five member of a notorious kidnap gang who specialize in abducting women and girls, sexually abusing them and obtaining ransom from their families, have been arrested by the police in Rivers State.

The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CP Frank Mba, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Sunday in a statement, said the five suspects were arrested by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), following a “massive manhunt for the perpetrators of the recent trend of abduction of women in some states in the South-South parts of the country, especially Port Harcourt and its environs.”

In the statement, Mba said:

“The victims are subjected to series of sexual abuses and ransom demanded from their families before their release.”

The Force PRO gave the names of the suspects as “Osinachi Ngwakwe, 22, from Ubaka Community in Umuahia South local government area of Abia State, Sammy Junior Inordee, alias T-Boy, 27, from Gwarra Community in Khana local government area of Rivers State.

“They, thereafter, trail them to lonely roads, abduct and take them to their criminal hideouts, where they sexually abuse them and demand ransom from their families before their release. They also sell off their exotic cars,” the statement from CP Mba said.

He added that items recovered from the suspects included four AK47 rifles, one double barrel shotgun and sets of military camouflage uniforms suspected to have been illegally acquired, which they wear to beat security checks.“Effort is being intensified to arrest other fleeing gang members and recover more weapons and stolen vehicles used by the suspects for their operations,” he said.

Megan Fox’s Comment About Machine Gun.

After Machine Gun Kelly performed on Saturday Night Live, girlfriend Megan Fox shared high praise, but the show’s previous musical guests might not appreciate her remarks.

Megan Fox is making no secret of her appreciation for Machine Gun Kelly’s recent stint on Saturday Night Live, even if it comes at the expense of the show’s previous musical guests.

After her boyfriend made his debut on the long-running NBC sketch-comedy series by performing his tunes “Lonely” and “My Ex’s Best Friend” for the Saturday, Jan. 30 episode, Megan took to Instagram on Jan. 31 to offer high praise. She also shared a carousel of photos taken during the exciting week.

“SNL week,” the 34-year-old actress captioned the post. “Best performance that show has ever seen.” She added a head-exploding emoji, followed by a broken-heart one.

Certainly, her message was well-intentioned, as this is a very supportive sentiment to express. That said, given that SNL is known for showcasing some of the industry’s most iconic and beloved musicians over the course of its 46 seasons, this caption might make for some awkward moments if she ever hangs out with any singers in the near future.

‘Yes I’m a Black Man and I Live Everyday Proud that I am’- Marcus Rashford Replies Racists Who Came after Him on Social Media.

Manchester United players have been victims of racial abuses in recent weeks. Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial were victims of racial abuses last week following Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United, which prompted Manchester United to call on social media companies to improve their monitoring of social media abuse.

In similar story, another Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford, has been targeted by racists online, and his abuse came after he missed goalscoring opportunities in Manchester United’s game against Arsenal on Saturday night, January 30.

Reacting to the abuses, the 24-year-old England international took to Twitter on Saturday night to blast those who have targeted him, saying he will not dignify them by posting their racist comments online.

He wrote; “Humanity and social media at its worst. Yes I’m a black man and I live every day proud that I am. No one, or no one comment, is going to make me feel any different. So sorry if you were looking for a strong reaction, you’re just simply not going to get it here,” he wrote.

“I’m not sharing screenshots. It would be irresponsible to do so and as you can imagine there’s nothing original in them. I have beautiful children of all colours following me and they don’t need to read it. Beautiful colours that should only be celebrated.”
Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also joined in the condemnation of racists online. During a press conference after the match, Ole said;

“It’s just incredible we have these scenes still, this abuse in 2021.

“We’ve been campaigning for a long time now with the Premier League and I think it’s working, but there are still some people that haven’t got it.

Ex-lawmaker condemns Makinde’s handling of Oyo security crisis

A former lawmaker, who represented Oyo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has condemned Governor Seyi Makinde for his handling of the security crisis in the Ibarapa/Oke Ogun area of the state.

The former lawmaker noted that while the governor considered the right of the killer herders to live in any part of the country, he failed to respect the right of the host community to live full life devoid of intimidation, killings and deprivation.

Lanlehin stated this on Sunday in a statement which he personally signed, adding that “I have observed, with deep concern, the rising wave of insecurity in Oyo State, advertised in the increasing cases of murder, armed robbery, kidnapping and all sorts of criminal activities.”

The former governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), further noted that from Ibadan to Oyo, Ogbomoso to Oke-Ogun, and Ibarapa, nowhere could be labelled as safe and peaceful.

He said: “More baffling is Governor Seyi Makinde’s inept handling of the entire situation, particularly his reactive and indecisive approach to tackling the most basic of challenges his administration can ever face.

“The recent incident whereby Chief Sunday Adeyemo, fondly referred to as Sunday Igboho, gave an ultimatum to the Seriki Fulani in Igangan is a case in point. With available information, one cannot but criticise Governor Makinde for his hasty and one-sided state-wide broadcast on the incident, and his biased upbraiding of Sunday Igboho, without as much as showing empathy with the victims of the rape, kidnappings, murder and farmland destruction allegedly perpetrated by some criminal elements within the herders community, under the guise of working as herdsmen.

“As usual, the governor was just being politically correct, and excessively populist in that broadcast of his, when he should have been balanced, and not appear to pander to the whims and caprices of the supposed afflicters. Why couldn’t he have invited both parties to a meeting and set in motion the process to an amicable resolution or even pay an on-the-spot assessment to Igangan instead of rushing to broadcast his jaundiced opinion? Till date, there is no evidence of the governor having personally visited Ibarapaland in his capacity as the state’s Chief Security Officer.”

Lanlehin, who called on Governor Makinde not to be carried away by the euphoria of office or the allure of power, counselled him to be guided by deep introspection, wise counsel and an abiding devotion to the protection of the lives and property of the people of Oyo State.

Soldiers reportedly killed, two policewomen abducted as Boko Haram attacks Dikwa

Boko Haram insurgents reportedly attacked the town of Dikwa, Borno State, killing two soldiers and abducting two policewomen.

According to reports, the insurgents killed the two soldiers in a gun battle that ensued as men of the Nigerian Army repelled their attack on the local government headquarters.

Residents and sources in the town disclosed that the insurgents stormed the town around 5:30pm and operated for over four hours before leaving around 9:00pm.

A Civilain JTF operative said: “They killed two soldiers and abducted two women police. Six IDPs were also injured in the attack. The Insurgents took away one police van and also burst the tire of the civilian JTF van.”

Another source, a displaced person living in the IDP camp in Dikwa disclosed that while the attack was going on, the camp residents, who were all afraid, were holed up in their tents.

He said: “We were in our tents in the camp and were hearing shootings from a distance and we knew those gunshots could not be from the army so we did not go out to know how deadly the attack was.”

Speaking also on the attack, a humanitarian worker in Dikwa disclosed that the attackers who came on foot were pursued by troops.

He said: “When they came into the town on foot, they started shooting sporadically. We all took to our heels. From the way they attacked, it was obvious they were on the run because the army has been clearing them in Sambisa Forest and you know Dikwa is in close proximity to the forest.

“I cannot tell the number of casualties because I ran for safety and I have not heard anything about the casualty figures but they didn’t target any particular place for destruction.”

There had been no comment from authorities as at the time of this report.

‘I never promised her marriage’ —Dangote says as he asks US court to place gag order on ex-mistress

Africa’s embattled richest man, Aliko Dangote, has asked the Miami-Dade County Court in Florida, USA, to place a permanent gag order on his ex-mistress, Autumn Spikes, as he never promised her marriage while their over 10 years relationship lasted.

Dangote and Spikes have been engaging each other in a messy fight following the end of their relationship, with the lady asking to be paid $5 million by the billionaire businessman as alimony.

Filing the gag order suit on Friday, Dangote, through his lawyer, Bruce Fleisher, stated that he (Dangote) did not “promise to marry Spikes as there was never a marital relationship between him and Spikes granting her the right to a alimony, which is the money a court orders someone to pay regularly to their former wife or husband after their marriage has ended.”

“Nevertheless, the defendant has made extortive demands upon the plaintiff pursuant to Fla. Stat. 836.05 unless he provides her with money or support which he is not obligated to pay pursuant to Fla. Stat. 771.01 et. seq.

“The defendant has made a claim tantamount to demand for lump sum alimony of five million Dollars ($5,000,000.00).

“Upon knowledge and belief, Autumn Spikes’ claim is that she will expose the defendant’s private life and family to talk shows and news media unless he complies with her demands.”

The document added, “The plaintiff anticipates an onslaught of social media and/or talk show requests with the service of this action.

“The protection to which the plaintiff is entitled is a preliminary restraint before evidentiary hearing.

“Mr Dangote, who said he anticipates an onslaught of social media has appealed to the court to grant him the protection of a preliminary restraint before evidentiary hearing.”

Fleisher confirmed that the petition for entry of the preliminary injunction has been fixed for February 9, adding that the “gag order” was meant to stop Spikes from carrying out an alleged threat to expose the businessman’s private and family life on social media and media talk shows.

“Wherefore, the plaintiff prays that the court enter order of preliminary injunction and order defendant Autumn Spikes to show cause why she should not be the subject of gag order,” Fleisher said.

The messy affair started on January 1 when Spikes had posted a video on her Instagram page with the handle @allrounda1 which showed herself and Dangote sitting on the same couch with part of his buttocks exposed.

On January 22, Dangote had filed a lawsuit against Spikes where he demanded an “excess of $30,000 from her as damages for libel, cyber stalking, defamation of character and breach of agreement to keep their relationship private and off the social media.”

He also stated in the lawsuit that Spikes demanded the sum of $5 million in exchange for a Non-Disclosure Agreement to keep her mouth shut.

However, in a post on her Instagram page, Spikes said Dangote offered her a ‘paltry’ $15,000 and $2,500 monthly as well as putting pressure on her to sign the first NDA to ‘hush her.’

Valentine Hilton 77 is dead

The Animals guitarist Hilton Valentine, who created one of the most famous riffs in pop music in the 1960s, has died at the age of 77.

The British band’s version of blues standard The House of The Rising Sun topped the UK and US charts in 1964.

The Animals’ record label ABKCO Music described Valentine as a “pioneering guitar player influencing the sound of rock and roll for decades to come”.

North Shields-born Valentine died on Friday, ABKCO said on Twitter.

Valentine co-founded the Animals in Newcastle in 1963 alongside singer Eric Burdon, bassist Chas Chandler, organist Alan Price and drummer John Steel.

The group also scored six other UK top 10 hits including Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood and We Gotta Get Out of This Place.

Valentine left The Animals for a solo career after the original line-up split in 1966, but he went on take part in several reunions and toured with Burdon in 2007.

Based in Connecticut in recent years, he also released music with his band Skiffledog.

Burdon paid tribute to Valentine on Instagram, writing: “The opening opus of Rising Sun will never sound the same!… You didn’t just play it, you lived it! Heartbroken by the sudden news of Hilton’s passing.

“We had great times together, Geordie lad. From the North Shields to the entire world…Rock In Peace.”

Suspected female kidnapper arrested in Ekiti while attempting to abduct three school children

A suspected female kidnapper who attempted to abduct three school children in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, has been arrested by the police in the state.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Sunday Abutu, in a statement on Saturday, the suspect identified as Tawa Kazeem, was arrested on Friday while attempting to kidnap the children by asking them to assist her in carrying her bag containing some items to an unknown destination, after using a substance to hypnotize them.

In the statement, Abutu said:

“On the day of the incident, some residents around INEC Office, Bank Road, Ado-Ekiti, at about 1420hrs, raised an alarm, that a strange woman, identified as Mrs Tawa Kazeem, attempted to abduct three school children along Bank Road, Ado-Ekiti.

“Upon the receipt of the information from a good Samaritan, a team of joint patrol comprising the Police, Army and other security agencies put in place by the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, was dispatched to the scene immediately and was able to rescue the children and apprehended the suspect.

“The children narrated that the woman pleaded with them to help her carry her bag containing some items to an unknown destination.

“The children said they refused initially but after a few moment of conversing with the woman, they became unconscious and started following the woman with her bag.

“It took the quick intervention of some mechanics around who noticed their suspicious movement to stop them.

“When asked about the children, she claimed that the children belonged to her. But the scenario changed when the children countered her that she was not their mother.

“During interrogation by the personnel of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the woman could not satisfactorily state her mission and reason for trying to lead the school children to an unknown destination.

“Items recovered from the suspect include charm, soft drinks, oranges, drugs, adult/children slippers, fresh banana, maggi, garri, clothes, INEC jackets, among others.

“Investigation is ongoing and the suspect would be charged to court once concluded.”

Read why these two men were flogged 77 times

Authorities in Indonesia’s Aceh province publicly flogged two gay men 77 times each on Thursday after a vigilante mob raided their apartment in November, allegedly caught them having sex, and handed them over to the police. The whipping—recognized as torture under international law—was punishment under the province’s Sharia (Islamic law) regulations, which forbid same-sex conduct.

The floggings are part of a longstanding pattern of targeted abuse by Acehnese authorities against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people.

In 2012, then-Banda Aceh deputy mayor Illiza Saaduddin announced a “special team” to make the public more aware of the “threat of LGBT,” posting an image of herself on Instagram holding a handgun and vowing to flush gays out of Aceh. In October 2015, special Sharia police arrested two women, ages 18 and 19, on suspicion of being lesbians for embracing in public, and detained them for three nights before sending them to religious “rehab.” An episode nearly identical to this week’s flogging happened in 2017 – including vigilantism, police involvement, prosecution under grossly discriminatory Sharia regulations, and public flogging.

The abuse also is part of a five-year anti-LGBT campaign driven by many of Indonesia’s national and local leaders with harmful rhetoric and repeated failure to punish abusers.

Aceh is the only one of Indonesia’s 34 provinces that can legally adopt bylaws derived from Sharia (though such provisions are spreading elsewhere in the country). Over the past decade, Aceh’s parliament has adopted Sharia-inspired ordinances that criminalize everything from non-hijab-wearing women, to drinking alcohol, to gambling, to extramarital sex. The province’s 2014 Criminal Code bars both male and female same-sex behavior.

And while the spectacle of public torture in Aceh is horrific, authorities across the country continue to lead or participate in arbitrary raids and arrests in private spaces. Increasingly, authorities are using a discriminatory pornography law as a weapon to target LGBT people. The crackdown has contributed to a major public health crisis: HIV rates among men who have sex with men were already spiking, and the attacks of the last five years have stoked fear and inhibited vital HIV prevention work.

The Indonesian government has made commitments in principle to protect LGBT people. But it seems President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s slogan of “unity in diversity” does not genuinely extend to protecting everyone – including the two men mercilessly flogged today.
