Taraba Police commences manhunt for killers of operatives

Taraba State Police Command has commenced the hunt for those responsible for the killing of two mobile policemen, via the deployment of its tactical team.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, April 7, by the spokesperson of the command, DSP David Misal.

Misal stated that the tactical team was already in Takum and on the order of the state police commissioner to apprehend those responsible for the killing in Takum and also beef up security along all roads in the area.

The two policemen were ambushed and killed at a checkpoint along Takum – Katsina-Ala road by gunmen, Ripples Nigeria gathered.

This is bringing the number to four policemen killed and their weapons taken away by gunmen in recent weeks.

No fewer than 17 persons were killed along Wukari – Takum road, Takum – Kashinbila road and Takum – Katsina-Ala road by gunmen within the same period.

Rapper DMX to undergo brain function tests as he remains on life support

American rapper, DMX has been scheduled for critical brain function tests that could determine his outcome after he was hospitalised following a drug overdose.

The 50-year-old rapper who is still on life support at the White Plains Hospital in New York will undergo the tests later today, Wednesday, April 7.

His manager, Steve Rifkind confirmed the new development to TMZ, saying X is still in a coma and his condition has not materially changed. He also said that doctors will perform a battery of tests to determine the level of brain function.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was hospitalized last Friday after suffering a drug overdose that triggered a heart attack and is “facing serious health issues.

Doctors have cautioned he may not make it as he has “some brain activity” and is in a “vegetative state.”

Grammy winners, Burna Boy, Wizkid make Forbes Africa Icons’ List

Grammy Award winners, Burna Boy and Wizkid were included in the prestigious Forbes ‘100 Icons from Africa.’

Other notable Nigerian celebrities such as Davido, Omotola Ekeinde, Genevieve Nnaji, Funke Akindele-Bello, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Mr Eazi, among other Nigerians made the list.

Also, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala featured on the list.

According to Forbes, the list was curated from Hollywood exports and Grammy artists to award-winning ideas that can save the world.

It also stated that the list is a way of “celebrating those whose ideas, inventions, and influential role models have aided Africa’s growth over the last decade.”

Forbes on its official Twitter handle, @Forbesafrica, alongside the list wrote; “This is a way of celebrating those also with the award-winning ideas that had defined the African continent and influential role models that have spelt Africa’s growth over the last decade.”

Forbes described Burna Boy in the publication as one of the biggest and most successful African artists on this continent.

While Genevieve was described as the trailblazer of Nollywood.

Nollywood actress, Biodun Okeowo has admonished her followers to appreciate celebrities and shower them with words of affirmation whenever they can.

Taking to her Instagram page on Tuesday, the Nollywood actress revealed some of the sacrifices that entertainers have to make for their audience.

She stated in her post that celebrities are quite vulnerable, especially when they share pivotal details of their lives with online strangers.

Okeowo also reprimanded trolls who always have something negative to say about entertainers.

Nigerian rapper/lawyer, Falz, inks first set of tattoos

Falz The Bahd Guy has joined the rank of Nigerian artists who have engraved their body parts with tattoos.

He paid tribute to his family members with a collection of tattoos on his body.

Until his recently acquired body artwork, the Nigerian rapper stood out as one of the few artistes without tattoos or piercings which has since become a norm amongst celebrities.

Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz is renowned for his versatility and creativity not only as an artiste, but also as a movie actor and TV personality. The rapper is also a lawyer and a social activist.

On Tuesday, April 6, the 30-year-old rapper stated in his Instagram post that the aim and objective of his tattoo collection are to share his story with the world.

Collaborating with a tattoo artist in Lagos State, Falz, the son of the Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana, and Funmi Falana designed the faces of his parents on his left arm.

He also designed a throwback photo of himself and his two sisters in his underarm.

Sharing the video of the artworks on social media, the elated rapper captioned his videos;

Forbes confirms Kim Kardashian is now a billionaire

American reality star, Kim Kardashian is now a billionaire.

On Tuesday, April 6, Forbes announced Kim Kardashian’s inclusion in the World’s Billionaires list for the first time, citing her two lucrative businesses, KKW Beauty and Skims, as well as cash from “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and endorsement deals.

Kim’s worth increased from $780 million in October to $1 billion.

The mother of four launched KKW Beauty in 2017 after seeing the success of half-sister Kylie Jenner’s makeup company, Kylie Cosmetics.

It’s the first time I’ve moved away from having licensing deals and transitioned into being an owner,” Kardashian told Forbes in 2017, when she announced her cosmetics line.

Kardashian, 40, went on to sell 20 percent of KKW Beauty to Coty for $200 million, which put the value of her company at $1 billion.

She launched shapewear company Skims in 2019 and pivoted it to include loungewear during the pandemic when women started leaning into cozier clothing while being quarantined.

Court jails two internet fraudsters in Port Harcourt

Justice A.T Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has convicted and sentenced Gerald Uwuoma (a.k.a, Charlie Clifford Jimmy) and Promise Amadi, a serial fraudster, to two years in prison on separate charges that border on impersonation and internet fraud contrary to Section 22 (2) (b) (i) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act, 2015 and punishable under Section 22 (2) (b) (iv)of the same Act.

Both defendants were convicted on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 after pleading “guilty” to the charges preferred against them by the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The one-count charge against Uwuoma reads: “That you Gerald Uwuoma (a.k.a Charlie Clifford Jimmy) sometimes in 2020 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did fraudulently impersonate one Charlie Clifford Jimmy, a computer Engineer attached to the United States of America Army with intent to gain advantage for yourself and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 22 (2) (b) (i) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 and punishable under Section 22 (2) (b) (IV) of the same Act”.

In view of Uwuoma’s “guilty” plea, prosecuting counsel, F.O. Amama urged the Court to convict and sentence him accordingly. Defence counsel, F.A. Bigha did not oppose the prayer of the prosecution.

Justice Mohammed convicted and sentenced Uwuoma to two years imprisonment, with an option of fine of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500, 000.00). He also ordered that the devices ( One White Samsung A50 with the sim card, two USB flash drive, One black power bank, One HP Elite AH Colour laptop) used in committing the offence be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Uwuoma’s journey to the Correctional Centre began when the EFCC acted on some verified intelligence linking him with some internet- related fraudulent activities. He was arrested at Emenike Estate, New Owerri, Imo State and prosecuted accordingly.

For Amadi, one of the two counts on which he was convicted, reads: “That you Promise Amadi (a.k.a Sebastian Ubierna ) on or about March 2020 to February, 2021 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did fraudulently impersonate one Sebastian Ubierna with the intent to gain advantage for yourself and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 22 (2) (b) (I) of the Cybercrimes ( Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act 2015 and punishable under section 22 (2) (IV) of the same Act”.

Following his guilty plea, Justice Mohammed found Amadi guilty, convicted and sentenced him to one year imprisonment on count 1 and 2 respectively, with an option of fine of Two Hundred Thousand Naira only (N200, 000.00). The sentences run concurrently.

The judge ordered that the Samsung Galaxy S8+ recovered from him be forfeited to the Federal Government, sold and the proceeds paid into TSA account of the government.

Amadi was arrested after being linked with impersonation of an American: Hector. A. Ramirez in several internet- related dealings. Investigation showed that he severally posed as an entrepreneur, real estate sales expert and financial adviser at World Trade Centre in the United States of America.

Nigerian music producer and record label founder, Michael Collins Ajereh, professionally called Don Jazzy has expressed regrets over the fracas that ensued between him and Olamide at the Headies 2015 award night.

Speaking in an interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Bounce Radio Live, the Mavin records CEO said he is not a type who likes igniting and fueling conflicts and regrets his statement that night.

Don Jazzy also said he wouldn’t have replied to Olamide if he wasn’t called by the show host to say a thing or two.

The music maestro also said his statement was actually not channeled towards stimulating conflict, rather it was a way to settle the conflict that arose.

They settled the rift in 2016 by issuing public apologies after which they took the photo above to show they are cool with each other.

Ubong Akpan, a 49-year-old father who has been having carnal knowledge of his 12-year-old daughter has been arrested by the police in Ogun.

The daughter who reported to the Itele Ota Divisional Police Headquarters accused her father of sleeping with her since she was seven.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in Abeokuta on Monday, saying that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Edward Ajogun also directed that the victim be taken to the general hospital for proper medical treatment.

Oyeyemi said, “Upon the report, the DPO, Itele-Ota Division, CSP Monday Unoegbe, detailed his detectives to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the crime and claimed that his wife was appearing too old and no longer looking attractive to him.”

The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Family Support Unit of the Ota Area Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Phyno who was interviewed by the talent manager, Bankuli told his followers to never focus on talent alone, but they should put in enough work in pursuit of their dreams.

Don Jazzy regrets not signing Teni, Falz, Simi, reveals he never wanted Davido

Nigerian music producer, Don Jazzy has spilt his regrets about not signing Afrobeats stars; Falz, Simi and Teni.

The Mavins Records founder stated he has no regrets not signing Davido, who is the leader of the popular label, Davido Music World.

The CEO of Mavin Records said the only person he didn’t want to sign was Davido, however, he knew he was going to be huge as they have money already.

He disclosed this while speaking in a Black Box Interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

Don Jazzy said;

I can’t say I turned them down.

For Falz, the working situation wasn’t just right. I run a firm that could handle almost everything he needed.

“But I think he had like a management company set up already. It was like Tiwa Savage’s but I had to grow into that kind of scenario where I had to handle someone that had a record label, some blueprint process.

I equally didn’t reject Simi.

Adesua Etomi, Banky W recount losing twins in miscarriage

In a heartbreaking interview, Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi and her husband, Banky W recounted losing their set of twins to miscarriage.

Adesua revealed she wailed after the doctor discovered they were no longer breathing.

The music star and his award-winning actress wife made this known during an episode of The Waterbrook series.

So we got pregnant and we got pregnant with twins. And we had gone for the scans, we had seen the heartbeats. At this point very few people knew what happened,” Adesua said.

“Every report that you have heard was a lie because nobody knew what happened. So during a routine checkup, we went back to the hospital to have a scan and I just saw the doctor’s face…you know when something is wrong, sometimes you can tell.”

She was scanning and scanning and I was like what’s wrong and she said ‘oh nothing’ and I looked at the nurse’s face and asked what’s wrong and she said ‘Adesua’ I’m looking for the heartbeats and I said ‘for the two of them?’.”

The movie star recounted how she collapsed immediately after she got home from the hospital.

The couple talked about how they planned on adopting or even surrogacy at some point.

The couple welcomed their first child in early 2021.

Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Ugezu J. Ugezu has taken to social media to question the modern approach African parents use in training their children.

Taking to his Instagram page, he noted how Africans are imitating the Whites by not flogging their children.

According to Ugezu, parents who don’t mercilessly flog their children denies them the reality of living in an African society.

Lady disowned for tattooing Bobrisky on her body cries out for help, says she’s homeless (Video)

Mariam, a lady who inked a tattoo of Idris ‘Bobrisky’ Okuneye’s face on her back has cried out for help after allegedly being disowned by her father.

The fan disclosed this in a video shared online, stating that she is currently homeless and frustrated over the situation she has found herself in. She also said she feels like committing suicide.

According to the lady, she has been sleeping around in make shift arrangements since she was disowned by her dad. She further revealed that he asked her to clean the tattoo but she couldn’t because it’s permanent.

Mariam pleaded with Nigerians to help her get a job and accommodation as her family no longer want anything to do with her.

Bandits kill five, injure one in fresh Kaduna attack

Bandits have attacked Katarma village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing five people and leaving one injured during the attack.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the attack in a statement on Sunday.

Although he didn’t state when the attack took place, he identified the deceased as Samson Danladi, Luka Gajere, Amos Ali, Titus Baba and Damali Musa and noted that the injured person was receiving treatment in a neighbouring state.

The commissioner also reported a clash between some youths in Atuku village, Jema’a LGA.

In another incident, troops under the auspices of Operation Safe Haven reported a clash between some youths in Atuku village, Jema’a LGA. During the clash, one Afiniki Thomas was attacked by two youths and sustained a deep gash to the forehead.

“One of the assailants, Sani Safiyanu was arrested for profiling and investigation. The injured victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment,” Aruwan said.

The commissioner also disclosed that troops of Operation Safe Haven while on patrol discovered the decomposing corpse of one Paul Simon, a resident of Yagbak village in Zangon Kataf LGA, who was reported missing on March 24, 2021.

Receiving the reports, Governor Nasir El-Rufai prayed for the repose of those slain, and sent condolences to their families, while wishing the injured a quick recovery, he said.

The Governor also tasked security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the clash in Atulu village in Jema’a local government area.

Lecturer gives students permission to cry uncontrollably during exam

Students of the Department of Civil Engineering, Kyambogo university, Uganda who recently wrote their exams were surprised when their lecturer decided to consider their plight in an odd way.

The Ugandan lecturer who has been described as ‘compassionate’ gave students writing exam a choice to cry if they so wish.

In the exam paper, asides from the usual instructions regarding how to answer the questions, the lecturer told students that they can cry if they want but they should do it quietly.

Crying is allowed but please do so quietly,” the instruction read.

The exam which was for the course, Strength of Materials with code; TCBE 1201, took place on March 29, 2021.
