We haven’t spoken in a long time – Master KG speaks on alleged rift with Nomcebo after their ‘Jerusalema’ hit.

South African music producer, Master KG has opened up on his alleged rift with singer Nomcebo Zikode after their “Jerusalema” hit.

KG who produced the song, told DRUM that they have a misunderstanding which might be resolved. He also admitted that they’ve not spoken for a long time.

The music producer said;

“There is no drama with me and Nomcebo, just a misunderstanding here and there.

“The issues are with her and Open Mic, not me. We don’t have an issue, well, from my side. She said she was not paid. At the end of the day, the masters are owned by Open Mic, both her and I are just performing artists, and they need to resolve the issue with splits and stuff.

“We haven’t spoken in a long time, I see her posts and I like them. I also understand that she is busy, and we are always touring. Maybe soon, when the matter is resolved we will get together and celebrate the success of the song.”

KG also said he will like to work with Nomcebo in the future.

“I would definitely like to make more music with Nomcebo in the future. She has her own unique style and her own way of making things happen. I believe the success of the song was not from one side. It was me and her getting together and making it happen.” he said

“Jerusalema” is the biggest song the two of them have released to date. Ordinarily, it should have been a cause for unity and celebration. But it has somehow divided them.

In July 2021, South Africans were startled after Nomcebo revealed that she had not been paid her royalties despite Jerusalema’s international success.

Things got heated when Master KG quickly took to his Twitter to denounce the claims, alleging that the vocalist had received money, but later deleted his tweets. He accused Nomcebo of being greedy for allegedly demanding 70% royalties from the song instead of the agreed 50%.

Responding to this, Nomcebo made it clear that the producer was not her boss and that her issue is with the record company.
