Trader jailed 18 months for stealing machine parts

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, sentenced a 24-year-old trader, Joshua Henry, to 18 months’ imprisonment for stealing machine parts from a gristmill worth N1.2 million.

The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Mr Henry who pleaded guilty to theft. She gave the convict an option of N30,000 fine.

She also ordered him to pay a compensation of N800,000 to the complainant.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the ‘B’ Division Police Station on April 8, by Dung Pam, the complainant.

Mr Gokwat said the convict went to the complainant’s gristmill and stole a kick-starter, a spanner and metal base, all worth N1.2 million.
