Wizkid shades Davido’s signee, Peruzzi calling him ‘Pant washer singwriter’

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Wizkid, threw shade at singer-songwriter, Peruzzi during his recent social media war with his boss, Davido.

Wizkid and Davido were engaged in a fierce social media war on X on Monday night.

In one of his posts, Wizkid took a swipe at Peruzzi while hitting at Davido, referring to him as a “pant washer song writer.”

Wizkid wrote, “U and all ur crew plus ur pant washer song writer go to sleep at night thinking you actually got anything on me in music. Wish u all well.”

Peruzzi immediately caught the sub, daring Wizkid to swear that he had never sought for his service.

Quoting Wizkid’s tweet, he wrote, “Swear say you no find me.”

‘Even if I retire today, you’ll still not be on my level’ – Wizkid tells Davido

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun, aka Wizkid, has boasted that even if he decides to retire from the music industry now, his colleague Davido will still not be on his level.

Wizkid stated this during a heated exchange with Davido on X platform on Monday night.

He described Davido as his “boy,” adding that the DMW boss is just an influencer with a songwriter.

He wrote, “I got nun to say to u my boy! I can retire today and you still not on my level. You be influencer with a song writer. Wish u well.”

Wizkid Wins Big At 15th Headies

Singer, Wizkid, has won the Album of the year category at this year’s Headies with his Made in Lagos (deluxe edition) album.

His collaboration with Tems, ‘Essence’ also won awards in the Song of the Year, Best Collaboration and RnB Single categories.

Other big winners of the event include Patoranking who got two awards for Best Recording of the year and Best Reggae and Dancehall album.

Meanwhile, Buju BNXN won the Next Rated category, Olamide won the Best Rap Album with Carpe Diem, and Adekunle Gold emerged as Best Songwriter with his single, ‘Sinner’

Why Banky W said Wizkid and I are his retirement plan – Skales

Nigerian singer, Raoul John Njeng Njeng, better known as Skales has said what Banky W meant when he said described him and Wizkid as his retirement plan.

In 2010, when Banky was introducing Skales and Wiz to the world, he said that they are his retirement plan as they were his new signees at the time.

During a recent interview on IONWANNATALK Podcast, the presenter questioned him about the EME boss statement being controversial and unacceptable.

Skales, however said that he did not see anything wrong with what the record label boss said.

He defended Banky by saying that it was just a phrase which he used to inform people that he made a positive investment by signing both of them.

US rapper, Rich The Kid appeals to Wizkid for collaboration the second time

American rap star, Rich The Kid has made a fresh appeal to Nigerian music star, Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid for a music collaboration.

The Hip Hop act had first indicated interest in working with the Starboy Entertainment founder last year after he commented on the Fever crooner’s post and asked him to check his DM.

“Check dm g,” Rich The Kid wrote in September 2021.

It is not confirmed if Big Wiz replied him, however, months after, the ‘Plug Walk’ crooner has now taken to Twitter to ask for a collaboration.

I left Banky’s EME with zero naira – Wizkid says in resurfaced video

A throwback video of Afrobeats star, Wizkid speaking on how he left Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment, EME years ago has surfaced on social media.

This follows an interview Bank granted where he said that Wikzid exited to start his own record label after dropping only two out of the five albums he was contractually obligated to release.

In the old Video which was from an interview with Capital Xtra, Wiz said when he left EME, he had no single money to his name despite being ‘Wizkid’.

According to the Ojuelegba hit-maker, things were moving smoothly and he was thankful to Banky W, but he had gotten to a phase of his career where he wanted to grow more so he had to leave.

Wizkid’s failure to attend my wedding was a disappointment – Banky W [Video]

Nigerian music executive, Banky W has said that he was disappointed his protégé, Wizkid could not attend his wedding to Adesua Etomi.

He spoke during an interview on Blackbox interview series, while also speaking on Wizkid’s exit from Empire Mates Entertainment.

Recall, Banky W and Adesua Etomi had a star studded weddings in 2017, but unfortunately, the Starboy was not in attendance.

The EME boss admitted that he was disappointed about Wizkid’s absence at his wedding but said that he understood that he was busy at the time. He disclosed that the ‘Joro’ crooner later called to apologise.

Was I disappointed that he wasn’t at the wedding? I was, but I know he tried because there was a show with a lot of the artists…I think it was One Africa.

“But he called at the time that he was so sorry,” Banky said.

Tania Omotayo suggests she isn’t angry that people address her as ‘the lady who dated Wizkid’

Nigerian entrepreneur, Tania Omotayo has spoken on her relationship with ex-boyfriend, and superstar singer, Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid.

She hinted during a chat with journalist, Chude Jideonwo that she has no issues with people who often make reference to their past relationship especially when they want to mention her in a conversation.

Chude asked her if it hurts to hear people refer to her as ‘the girl that dated Wizkid’. In her response, the married woman asked him if it is not known fact that she and the musician were lovers.

Did I not date him?’‘ she asked.

Tania and Wiz dated for five years but the relationship ended in 2016 mid reports that he was expecting his second child with US-based baby mama, Binta Diallo.

Wizkid’s first son and Mercy Johnson’s first daughter rock similar outfit while hanging out in Dubai

Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson has taken to social media to give update on her daughter Purity’s stay so far in Dubai, UAE.

The little girl is currently in the UAE to represent her school at the World School Games event.

In a post recent shared on Instagram by the movie star, Purity was spotted posing with her dad, Prince Okojie who had also travelled down to Dubai to support his daughter.

Some other photos posted by the actress captured her daughter posing alongside Wizkid’s first son, Boluwatife, who is also in Dubai to represent his school.

Jada Pollock speaks on rumours of Tems having affair with Wizkid

Ayodeji ‘Wizkid’ Balogun’s manager and baby mama, Jada Pollock, has spoken on the singer’s rumoured love affair with songstress, Tems.

The mother of one recently hosted an interactive session on Twitter, where tweeps asked varying questions about herself and Big Wiz.

A curious fan then asked if Jada is bothered about rumours that her baby daddy, Wizkid, is in an amorous relationship with Tems.

The talent manager responded by praising Tems’ talent and berated rumour mongers people peddling such stories about her.

Why I am yet to collaborate with Wizkid, Burna Boy – US singer, Ne-Yo

Award-winning American R&B singer, Ne-Yo, has revealed that he intends to work with Nigerian artistes like Wizkid, Burna Boy and a few others.

Speaking during a press conference with Flytime music on Wednesday, Dec 22, Ne-Yo said he is however unable to collaborate with either Wiz, Burna, Tems or Ckay because he has no way of contacting them, so he is just waiting for any of them to reach out.

The U.S. songwriter who headlined the Flytime music festival on Wednesday night, also said he never knew he had such a fan base in Lagos.

I remember being pleasantly surprised the first time I came to Lagos, Nigeria. I genuinely had no idea that I had such an amazing fan base here,” he said

The ”Because of You” hitmaker then talked about the Nigerian style of music, and his intention to delve into the Afrobeats genre.

Ne-Yo said; “For me to sit with producers and go and be like, ‘Let’s do some afrobeat today’, I’ll feel like an imposter.

If I want to get into it, I want to be invited by an artiste who’s already there. Let me feature on an artiste who’s already there or I get an artiste who’s already there to feature on something of mine, so that’s authentic and real.

“I’ll love to collaborate with some African artistes. Wizkid is on the list, Tems is on the list, Burna Boy is on the list, and Ckay is on the list.

“I’m just waiting on a phone call basically. I don’t have anybody’s number for me to call. I’m waiting for them to call me.”

Burna is losing it musically – Cynthia Morgan takes a swipe at Burna Boy, Wizkid

Nigerian dancehall singer, Cynthia Morgan has taken a swipe at Grammy-winning singer, Damini Ogulu also known as Burna Boy and his colleague, Wizkid.

The German Juice hit-maker, in a post on her official Instagram story, stated that Burna Boy is losing his musical dexterity.

Cynthia Morgan stated this in reaction to his recently released song with Wizkid titled Ballon D’Or.

The songstress also shared her thoughts on Wizkid’s vocals, saying that his concluding 8 bars on the track were weak.

She wrote; ”Burna Boy is losing it with his music arrangement. Wizkid was ok but his last 8 bars was weak.”

”Life is too short to hold grudges” – Man tells Wizkid, Burna Boy to stop beefing Davido

A Nigerian Twitter user, Daniel Regha has advised Afrobeats superstars, Wizkid and Burna Boy to reconcile with colleague, Davido because ”life is too short”.

He made the call to the Starboy and African Giant shortly after they released their new single B D’or.

It is the second time the duo will be working together after “Ginger” from the “Made In Lagos” album.

But he believes that they are deliberately isolating Davido, and that is something that needs to be addressed.

He stated that they both need to make amends with OBO who has been reaching out to them publicly.

Daniel Regha tweeted; ”Burna your trouser is hilarious, looks like a palazzo. OMG glad you and Wizkid are friends, you guys need each other to grow and promote positivity in the industry.

I’ve used the same phone number for 8 years and I’ve blocked a lot of people – Wizkid

International Afrobeats star, Ayodeji Balogun known professionally as Wizkid has made an interesting revelation about his personal life and interaction with people.

The Grammy-wining singer revealed that he has used the same phone number for the last eight years.

Speaking in a chat with Apple Music, Wizkid added that he has also blocked many people through those years.

In his words; “I have used the same number for the last eight years .If I have had the same number for the past eight years, definitely I have done a lot of blocking on my phone”.

Speaking on a his personality, Big Wiz said he is an introvert who loves to stay indoors.

He said; “I am an introvert, I stay indoors, I don’t like to do a lot of things. That has come with age and my personal experiences. I think that is where that comes from. It’s not about how people perceive me. I am growing older as each day passes.

I am getting smarter with my decisions. You just know what you want more as you grow older, I don’t want to be at the parties, I don’t want to hang out with too many people”.

When asked about the success of his massive song ‘Essence’, the Starboy said:

“Its feels good, it feels great when you have a record like that. When we made it we were not thinking of commercial success, we were just thinking of good music. I think it why people like the record.it comes from the soul, it just natural organic sh*t”.

US rapper, Toosii begs Wizkid to feature on his song with Young Thug

American rapper, Toosii has called on Nigerian superstar singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun better known as Wizkid to hop on a track with him.

The rap artiste recorded a track with colleague, Young Thug titled; Somebody, and he shared a snippet of it on his social media page.

Toosii, in a post on his Instagram page, appealed to Wizkid to feature on the song. He then urged people to tag tag the Starboy, saying that he needs him.

He wrote; ”This shit so hard! I just need @wizkidayo on it now  ????TAG HIM TELL HIM I NEED HIM ON IT”

Wizkid set to feature on America’s The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon

Nigerian music star, Ayo Balogun aka Wizkid will be the latest guest to feature on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in the United States.

Wizkid is gearing up to take the stage on the popular late night talk show on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

This was announced by American On Air Personality, Mike Adam via his verified Twitter account on Saturday, Dec. 4.

”.@wizkidayo will perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday, December 7th,” he tweeted.

Wizkid just rounded up a highly successful 3-day concert at the O2 arena, London which saw performances from the likes of Chris Brown, Burna Boy, Ella Mai, Buju, and many more.

The singer has also announced the title for his next album, More Love Less Ego which he plans to drop next year.

Wizkid wins Artiste of the Year at Apple Music Awards

Ace Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun aka Wizkid, has been named as the African Artiste of the Year at the Annual Apple Music Awards.

Apple announced the winners of their Annual Apple Music Awards on Monday night with Wizkid grabbing the award for the much coveted slot for African Artiste.

The list was shared via the Apple website on Tuesday, the November 30, 2021.

Wizkid’s excerpt reads in part; “Singer-songwriter Wizkid is one of Africa’s biggest crossover acts, having worked with Drake, Skepta, and Chris Brown, among others. The Nigerian musician first found regional success in 2011 with the massively popular single “Holla at Your Boy,” which appeared on his debut album, “Superstar.”

This past year, he’s been the most streamed African artist on the continent on Apple Music and ranked on the Daily Top 100 charts in 60 countries, in addition to his monthly plays on Apple Music growing by more than 250 percent outside of Africa.”

Reacting to the latest win, Wizkid said; ”Thank you to Apple Music for this award. It’s a blessing to get to do what I do, and I’m proud to be representing for Africa.”

Other winners at the awards are Aya Nakamura, who was Artist of The Year in France, and H.E.R, who was named Songwriter of The Year.

I will never forget this – Bella Shmurda thanks Wizkid after performing at O2 Arena for the first time

Nigerian singer, Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed known professionally as Bella Shmurda, on Monday night, made his debut appearance and performance at the O2 Arena, London.

His performance was one of the highlights of at the day 2 of Wizkid’s Made in Lagos concert.

Bella Shmurda, in a post on his Instagram page was deeply thankful to Wizkid for the life-changing opportunity. He said that he will never forget what Wizkid did for him.

Bella Shmurda broke into the music scene with the song, “Vision 2020”, and his hit track, “Cash App”, gained him more prominence.

Nigerian man makes N54 million reselling Wizkid’s O2 Arena tickets

A Nigerian man has become a multi-millionaire overnight after he resold some concert tickets for Wizkid’s Made In Lagos tour at the O2 Arena in London.

The man who is known as Toba said he made nearly £100,000 (N54 million) just from selling some Wizkid tickets.

He had hurriedly bought some before the 20,000 tickets sold out in 12 minutes.

According to show biz hustler, he sold the VIP box tickets for prices ranging between £850 to £2,000 (N1m).

In a video Toba posted on his social media page, he could be seen flaunting the money he made from the resale.

He described Wizkid as a brand who does not need publicity to pull numbers.

Why I joined EndSARS protest last year – Wizkid opens up

International Afrobeats star, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun better known as Wizkid, has spoken on why he lent his voice to the #EndSARS campaign last year.

In a new interview with Vogue UK, the singer also discussed his recent tour, being a father and world domination.

Wizkid revealed that he’s always vocal about political injustice being meted out on Nigerians so that there can be visible progress in the society.

Speaking about his upbringing in Surulere, Big Wiz said;

There are no amount of words I can put together to make you understand what Lagos is, to explain the hustle, or the political injustice, the strength of the people or the number of amazing creatives.”

On why he felt the need to speak up and join the EndSARS protests in October 2020, the Grammy-winner said;

”It was very important for me to be direct and vocal because I’ve always been direct and vocal about political injustice in Nigeria To see that conversation happen and know that we’re one step forward from where we used to be, that’s amazing to me. And there’s no question I’ll keep speaking out loud.”

In October 2020, waves of protests rocked different cities in Nigeria and abroad. Wizkid who was in UK at the time, joined the Nigerians protesting in London.
