Report: Roma step up Smalling talks

Roma representatives have reportedly travelled to discuss with Manchester United, pushing for Chris Smalling’s return to the Olimpico.

The Giallorossi have, according to SportItalia, accelerated the talks and are hoping to reach an agreement with Manchester United as soon as possible.

La Lupa haven’t met Manchester United’s asking price so far, but interest from other clubs could force them to cough up, as coach Paulo Fonseca wants Smalling back after an impressive stint on loan in 2019-20.

Inter have been linked with the former England international, should Milan Skriniar move this summer.

The transfer market closes on Monday and Roma are hoping to close a deal before other teams join the chase with a concrete offer.
