”Lie from the pit of hell”- Gov Wike denies moving around with soldiers to intimidate voters during elections

The Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, has denied allegations that he moved around with soldiers to intimidate and cause disruption during last Saturday, February 25, Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

In a statement released by the State Commissioner for Information, Chris Finebone, Governor Wike said the allegations that he was involved in electoral misconduct during the election are just the wicked imagination of failed evil doers.

“Let it be clearly stated that after Gov. Wike and his wife managed to cast their vote last Saturday, they quietly returned to their home and never stepped out for the rest of the day.

It was, therefore, surprising that the same individuals who, for reasons best known to them, decided to lie against the governor, have gone ahead to raise false accusations suggesting that Gov. Wike moved about with soldiers intimidating people and influencing voting and collation of votes. This is, indeed, a lie taken from the very abyss of hell.

For the avoidance of doubt, Gov. Wike does not have a single soldier in his formal and informal entourage at any time, more so, during election time. The governor did not for whatever reason visit or move around after casting his vote.

The accusation of him moving around to intimidate or cause any disruption of any kind derives only from the wicked imagination of evil doers but they have failed.” the statement read

Finebone mentioned that a group of persons have been peddling a doctored audio and visual clip aimed at incriminating the governor and tarnishing his image.

“Of particular mention is a doctored audio clip that was concocted by Saharareporters during the 2016 re-run election in Rivers State in which they purported same to be a discussion between the governor and Hon. Dum Dekor.

That audio concoction was duly discredited and discarded as a piece of rubbish masterminded by evil people to tarnish the image of Gov. Wike. But in a hurry to throw dirt at the governor this time, some people decided to exhume and use same old discredited cl

Governor Wike gives out his Jacket, Hat at Project Inauguration

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, on Thursday, handed out his jacket and hat to members of the audience during a project inauguration.

Wike inaugurated the Rumuodogho Link Road in Emohua Local Government Area on Thursday.

During his speech, he suddenly said, “The heat is too much abeg,” and started to remove his jacket.

Then he looked at the audience and asked in Pidgin English, “I should dash you?”

He beckoned on the beneficiary and threw the jacket to him.

He also threw his hat and it was grabbed by a woman.

I will flog ‘the small boys’, says Governor Nyesom Wike

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, said he would not leave his political opponents for God, but he would deal with them himself.

Wike said he would flog “the small boys.” Governor Wike spoke on Monday when he inaugurated the Okezuo Abia Flyover along the Aba -Enugu Expressway in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area, and the rehabilitated Aba- Owerri Road in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State.

“God has given me what it takes to crush these people, for me to crush my enemies,”

Wike, who appeared to be throwing bants at the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, said, describing his enemies as “small boys” who he would not hesitate to deal with.

“No relationship can be bought with money. When I read some newspapers, they say some people are making attempts to break ranks. I said do you understand the modus operandi of what we are doing? If they understand the modus operandi, they will not waste their time.

“If you like, go and meet Ikpeazu, if you like go and meet Seyi, if you like go and meet Ortom, if you like go and meet Ugwuanyi. You don’t even understand what we are doing…you are making mistakes,” Wike said.

Fulfil promise of credible elections, Governor Wike tells INEC

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said if the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), does not renege on his pledge not to interfere with the conduct of the 2023 general elections, the All Progressives Congress will be doomed.

The governor, however, said Buhari’s resolve means he is serious about leaving an enduring legacy of conducting free and fair elections.

Wike made the assertion at the commencement of the construction work of Igwuruta internal roads in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state that was performed by the governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, on Wednesday.

He said:

“I thank Mr President that he wants to leave a legacy of conducting a free and fair election.”

He expressed doubt concerning the public promise made by the Independent National Electoral Commission to deliver better elections to Nigerians.

“My problem is INEC, whether they will do what they said they will do. They are making promises now. I don’t know whether they will keep to them.

“If INEC will keep to the promises that Nigeria will get a better election, I will be so happy. Everybody will see with their eyes, Abuja does not vote. It is the people here that will vote,” he said.

The governor described as unfortunate the inability of some former military generals to use their contacts with the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States of America to solve the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.

He maintained that such generals should have been more concerned about the insecurity situation in the country, and resolve to use their CIA contacts to restore peace across the country, instead of threatening him and his friends to succumb to their biddings.

Wike also took a swipe at an unnamed leader from the South-South who is seeking personal gains instead of that of the region.

He said:

“What will they tell their children? People who will like to eat their own share, eat their children’s share and eat their grandchildren’s share.

“When somebody at the age of 70 something is lobbying to be Chief of Staff, what will his own children lobby for?”

Wike slams NASS over confirmation of ex-service chiefs, alleges double standards

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has issued a scathing critique of the National Assembly over the confirmation of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Burutai, and other ex-Service Chiefs as non-career ambassadors.

Wike made this assertion when the Senate Committee on Niger Delta paid him a visit at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Wednesday, February 24.

Wike wondered why senators, who had severally decried the poor performances of the former service chiefs cleared them for another appointment.

He said: “Let me use this opportunity to express the dismay of most Nigerians to the Senate. Convey this to the Senate. We must be courageous in whatever we are doing. Everything must not be party affairs.

You (senators) sat and discussed that the then service chiefs be dismissed. You said they’re not performing.

“Now, the same people who were not performing, have been confirmed by you as ambassadors. What kind of country are we running?

“In anything we do, we must remember that there is tomorrow; our conscience is key. It’s not because I want to be a loyalist of a party. No. There are things you cannot reconcile at all.”

In response to questions about the responsibilities of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Wike said the commission had abandoned its core mandate, leaving those who canvassed for its establishment disillusioned.

I don’t like talking about NDDC. It is unfortunate that those who fought for it, if they knew that this is how the commission will be, I don’t think that they would have even asked for it”, he said.

The governor pointed out that over the years, various National Assembly committees on NDDC had not provided sufficient direction to make the commission focus on its core mandate of developing the Niger Delta.

He further accuses some politicians of turning the intervention agency into a cash cow for sinister political agenda, while alleging that its management once spent N10bn to unseat him.

The governor urged the committee’s leadership to prevail on the management of the NDDC to embark on legacy infrastructural projects such as the eight flyovers being constructed by his administration and not to waste resources on 50 or 100-metre roads.

He said: “The chairmen of the Senate and House committees on the NDDC are from the region too. You are supervising NDDC, so why not sit down with them to know the legacy projects that they want to carry out this year in the Niger Delta states. Tell them these are projects they must make sure they executed first.

Rather than do that, you allow them to do 50 or 100 metre- road or a close that leads to someone’s house. What’s their business there?

“The National Assembly is a part of the problem of NDDC. The Presidency is a part of the problem of NDDC and the party in power is a part of the problem of NDDC. They don’t allow NDDC to perform. We too in Niger Delta are not allowing them to perform. We are the enemies of ourselves.”

Nigerians Will Vote Out APC In 2023 – Wike.

Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has said that the inability of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to tackle insurgency, banditry and corruption will compel Nigerians to vote out the party in 2023.

Wike noted that with the current economic woes and escalating banditry, it was obvious that Nigerians had realised they made a terrible mistake to have voted for the APC.

A statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, quoted Wike as saying this on Thursday shortly after inspecting the Greater Interchange and Underpass being constructed by Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in Yola.
