The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has hailed the Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, for breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Baci has set a new record for a 100-hour marathon cooking.
The monarch shared Baci’s photo on his Instagram account on Tuesday, praising her resilient spirit and toughness as a woman.
He wrote,
“Today, like millions of Nigerians, I’m intrigued by #hildabaci resilient spirit, which exemplified the toughness but special grace that our women possess. What she demonstrated to our nation and every young person out there isn’t the glitz or reward system of breaking the Guinness World Record for “longest cooking time,” but the inexhaustible perseverance that every woman possesses.
“Every little girl in all our communities and local governments, like Hilda Bassey Effiong, deserves a chance to show the world her capacity to wrap us in her spirit of excellence. She has the ability to influence us, to break new ground in the most complex environments, and to substantially contribute to our nation’s economic prosperity.
“As a nation built upon family values, we must continue to recognise the significant contributions made by women throughout our country’s history. Their words and actions are cornerstones of our existence.”

Queen Tobi Phillips, one of the new wives of the Ooni of Ife, has revealed that she begged God months ago to shut the mouths of her detractors by giving her a gift that will shock them, and he answered her.
She explained that in July or August this year, a man told her that he doesn’t see her kind of woman getting married because she is too “vavavoom”.
She said that was the “straw that broke the camel’s back” so she prayed to God to give her a gift that will shock those who have said mean things to her.
She added that she promised God that she will dance every Sunday in thanksgiving if he answers her prayers.
In September, Tobi Phillips married the Ooni of Ife. She shared her story on Instagram this morning as some sort of motivation, while advising people to “ask and ye shall recieve”.

The Ooni of Ife will be marrying Tobi Phillips and Ashley Adegoke before his 48th birthday this month.
Tobi Phillips is a graduate of Marine Science from the University of Lagos and a former Beauty Queen.
It was initially speculated that she would be replacing Oloori Zainab Wuraola who walked away from her marriage to the Osun monarch.
The Ooni eventually married Prophetess Silekunola Naomi, but the marriage ended in December 2021.
Queen Ashley on the other hand, is a chartered accountant and currently runs an NGO that caters to less privileged kids and widows through the Ashley Adegoke Foundation.
She has a Masters in Accounting and Finance from the University of Greenwich, and currently runs her businesses in the United Kingdom.
Kemiashefonlovehaven reported that Queen Ashley who is from the Lafogido royal house, already has a child with another man. Her late father, Jacob Adebiyi Adegoke was a Prince of the source.
Prior to his coronation, the Ooni was previously married to Adebukola Bombata in 2008 but the marriage failed. After being coronated, Ooni married Edo-born Zainab-Otiti Obanor in 2016 but the union lasted for 17 months before their separation.
Ooni then married Silekunola in 2018 and the marriage produced a son before the divorce announcement in December.

Naomi Silekunola has hinted at being harassed for “walking away from abuse” and she warned that she will not stay silent about it.
The former evangelist, who shares a son with the Ooni of Ife, took to her page to state that “walking away from a relationship does not mean one should commit suicide.”
She wrote on Instagram:
“No woman deserves to be bullied. Walking away from abuse should not take away your fundamental human rights and dignity as a woman.”
She then referenced an incident she was allegedly subjected to by the “Assistant Commissioner of Police at the AIG’s office in Akure.” She said it “is a pointer to the fact that the system has failed womanhood again.”
“Does it mean that walking away from a relationship means you should commit suicide,” she asked.
Naomi’s sister put on her support for the former Olori. She wrote: “No woman deserves 1% of what you went through, still going through. You have really tried and enough is enough! It’s about time the sleeping dog wakes!”
Naomi responded to her sister: “It will be a rude awakening. You know when I am pushed I will rather die… Thank you all for standing by me through this very difficult period. They don’t know what’s going on but God will be faithful.”
Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi’s wife, Olori Naomi Silekunola, has announced the end of their marriage
The Prophetess confirmed their divorce, in a post on her Instagram page, where she noted that she will no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife but as the Queen of the people and mother of my adorable Prince.”
Silekunola explained that she tried to make her marriage work and smiled through the struggle, but realised that she had just one assignment which is her son.
In her words; “I bless the Lord almighty for His faithfulness in the last 3 years of my marriage. In life’s journey, it isn’t how far. Still, how well, indeed though Satan should buffet if trials should come, I have this blessed assurance controlling all situations and saying to me it is well with my soul. Certainly, it is well. I made my journey into the ancient throne of Ife with faith in my heart and love for the keeper of it.
Few impressions I would love to correct. If anyone knows otherwise, they are free to come up with facts. Let it be known that this decision to move on did not come because his majesty is married to another queen. As many would love to assume, throughout our life as a couple, I was the only married wife to him. There were side attractions, but it was never an issue.
I never approached him with any revelation of any sort, as many believed he contacted me first and made his proposal known several months later.
“The marriage was not an arranged one, as many have misconstrued. I never knew the prophetess said to have introduced me to him. Instead, he introduced her to me after I agreed to marry him. I was only being polite out of respect for him.
“I have never been pregnant all my life before Tadenikawo; my son is my first ever pregnancy with medical reports to back it up. The girl who is said to be my daughter is my niece.
I did my best to endure and make it work; many times, I smiled through the struggle, but I have finally realised I had just one assignment, my son, and when God is done, He is done.
“He chose Saul to be king, and when He was done, He told the prophet Samuel I have moved on. Religion was never an issue between us; please refer to my interview on News Central TV. Instead, His Majesty has a picture he would love the world to see and perceive him as and another one which is his true self.
“Today I announce the beginning of a new dawn and the close of a chapter. Today, I am a mother to God’s unique gift. I am no longer a slave to my thoughts of perfection. I, at this moment, announce that I shall no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife but as the Queen of the people and mother of my adorable Prince”.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has warned Yoruba activist and freedom fighter, Sunday Igboho, not to take laws into his hands even as he is fighting for the liberation of the Yorubas from criminal herdsmen.
The Ooni who gave the warning while appearing on Arise Television programme on Wednesday, said that having spoken out for the downtrodden and shown everyone that he really cares for his people, it was time for Igboho to allow the constituted authorities including the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, and other leaders to take charge and handle the security challenges in the state.
“Let us be very objective. He (Igboho) is being a mouthpiece for the downtrodden. He came up and everybody is listening now, but my advice to him, as a traditional ruler, is that he needs to be very careful so that the politicians won’t hijack the whole motive from him,” the Ooni said.
Continuing, the first class monarch added:
“He has done well and we’ve already praised him, but he shouldn’t take laws into his hands. We have the governor there, he is the chief security officer of the state and Mr President has invited him (Makinde). Let the right people that are being authorised to do what is right do it.
“He (Igboho) has done well and the world has heard him but everything should be done in moderation.”
