Nigerian singer, Davido features in 2022 FIFA World Cup Official Soundtrack

Ace Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido is featured on the soundtrack for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 29-year-old artiste is on the track with American R&B singer, Trinidad Cardona as well as American singer, Aisha.

Davido, in a Twitter post, said; “”I’m honored to be featured on the Official ⁦@FIFAWorldCup ⁩ 2022 Soundtrack ! See y’all later 2NITE ! This one is for Africa ! TULE!!!! ??❤️ WE RISE !””.

The soundtrack titled; Hayya Hayya (better together) is produced by RedOne, and it is set to debut on Friday, April 1, 2022.

The World Cup is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022.

Nigerian singer, Buju changes stage name to ‘BNXN’

Nigerian singer-songwriter, Daniel Benson, who was known professionally known as Buju, has officially changed his stage name to BNXN.

The fast-rising artiste took to his official Twitter page to announce the change, while noting that his new name would be pronounced as ‘Benson’.

In a video announcement he shared on Thursday night, the name change became necessary after the singer was mistaken for another Jamaican singer known as Buju Banton.

The tweet reads; “It’s no longer ‘Buju’. Call me ‘Benson’ written as ‘BNXN’.”

The ‘Lenu’ crooner was initially signed to Burna Boy’s Spaceship Collective in 2020 but did not renew his contract when it expired in 2021.

He explained that he decided to go independent because he ‘wants to do something new on his own’.

Nigerian singer, Seyi Shay reveals she’s engaged

Nigerian singer, Seyi Shay has announced that she is engaged and may be walking down the aisle soon.

The ‘Gimme Love’ crooner made this known during a recent interview with Beats FM.

Seyi Shay, who is pregnant, was asked about the noticeable diamond ring on her finger and she explained how she got it.

“Some guy gave it to me and said ‘hey would you marry me?” she said.

According to the songstress, her engagement is one of the reasons she has been glowing.

Nigerian singer, Tems bags her first Grammy nomination

Nigerian songstress and musical rave, Temilade Openiyi better known as Tems has been nominated for an award at the 64th annual Grammys.

She earned a nomination for ‘Essence’ with music superstar, Ayodeji ”Wizkid” Balogun and this is her first ever Grammy nomination.

Essence, which is the fourth song from Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ album was nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category.

Other nominees in the category include; Femi Kuti, Angelique Kidjo feat Burna Boy, Arooj Aftab and Yo-Yo Ma feat Angelique Kidjo.

The Grammy is an award presented by the Recording Academy to recognize achievement in the music industry of the United States and beyond. Held annually, its trophy depicts a gilded gramophone.

Nigerian reggae artiste, General Pype has announced the birth of his second child.

The singer took to his official Instagram page recently to reveal that he welcomed another boy.

General Pype shared the good news with a photo of him carrying his newborn child in his arms with his older son standing beside him.

Nigerian singer, Ric Hassani set to go global as he submits his music to Disney

Nigerian singer-songwriter, Eric Ikechukwu Ahiauzu better known as Ric Hassani has kicked off plans to take his music to a new level going by his latest revelation.

The ”Gentleman” crooner took fans by storm on Wednesday, April 7, when he disclosed that he is submitting his music to Disney.

He, however, did not mention if he is submitting a song, album or his entire catalogue, neither did he state whether it was for a possible partnership deal.

But he spiked fans interest with the post which he says he was writing a proposal for, yesterday.

Ric Hassani shared a snapshot of Disney logo and wrote; ”Submitting music, fingers crossed.”

He added; ”Oh, I was trending yesterday? Didn’t Didn’t know. I been de package proposal for Disney.”

Veteran Nigerian singer, 2 Face Idibia has taken to social media to drag African political leaders for oppressing their citizens.

In a post shared via his Instagram Stories on Sunday, March 14, 2021; the music star and activist slammed African leaders and the elites for using their powers to oppress the poor.

Dear African leaders/rulers and elites, what are you guys using your so-called power for?

Cos your power is nothing if it is only used for the oppression of your people,” he wrote.

Just a simple question. #RiddleMeThis #UnWashTheBrainWasher.”

Idibia is not just known for his singing prowess but activism.

The singer has at several times called out the government over its decisions and governing style.
