Nigerian man who kidnapped, turned 12-year-old girl to sex slave and forced her to sleep with six men daily sentenced to three life terms in South Africa

Augustine Omini Obono, a Nigerian national residing in South Africa, has been sentenced to three life terms for sexually violating and exploiting a 12-year-old girl in the Republic of South Africa.

He was sentenced for human trafficking, rape, statutory rape, and the sexual exploitation of a minor girl in the Gauteng High Court in Benoni on Thursday, April 29.

Obono, 44, who has been in custody since 2016 following his arrest, was also slapped with seven years for keeping the victim in a brothel and an additional three years for kidnapping the minor.

According to the police, on 3 September 2016, the minor was at a recreational park in Derdepoort when she met a woman, who asked her to accompany her to a flat in Sunnyside, Pretoria.

The woman told the girl she would meet Obono, who was unknown to the victim at the time. The woman promised the minor that she would be given transport money to go to Mamelodi the following morning.

When they arrived at the flat, the woman handed the minor over to Obono. The minor was subsequently sexually exploited and forced to work as a prostitute.

National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said Obono kept the victim in his flat, against her will, for three months.

Oboni demanded that the child make him money by prostituting herself. When she refused. he assaulted and raped her repeatedly. He allegedly locked her up sometimes without food and supplied her with drugs to get her addicted so he could control her.

During that period, Obono fed the minor drugs and forced her to have sex with between five to six men a day. In December 2016, the victim managed to flee and went to her uncle’s place in Mamelodi,” Mahanjana stated.

“When she arrived, she informed her uncle about her ordeal. The uncle reported the matter to the police. The victim pointed out the flat where she was kept against her will. When police arrived at the flat, they found Obono and arrested him,” Mahanjana said.

The minor is currently undergoing counselling.

@ifeoluwalydia; Tbh, Nigerians don’t relocate to other advanced country because of “fun”. Security, regard for human rights, basic social amenities and many more are reasons we relocate.

@BBB26712829; Thanks for the opinion. We need some boring in our lives as Nigerians. Boring is better than Inflation, death, kidnapping and others.

@Sangodaz; Is Nigeria not boring enough?

We’re used to it already. Let’s have the money and remove the poverty first, then we can see clearly to think about boring. Boring when you gave your car, house, job, and peace of mind from robbers, SARS, and terrorists

@BrosManney; The problem is there is no insecurity made up of terrorism and banditry in Canada.

Then the owambe of Nigerians in various Nigeria town unions and Nigerian churches is so exciting that the boredom is at least slightly addressed. Otherwise it’s boring.

@AdeeyoOlabisi; How i wish Nigeria is boring as Canada…boringness is our hobby

@EngrRamon; Truth is if someone had money and Nigeria was a bit secured no point travelling out

Nigerian Man, Two Ugandan Women Arrested For Drug Trafficking In India.

The women, Jascent Nakalungi and Sharifah Namaganda said to be cousins, were intercepted by the Delhi unit of the central probe agency on January 28 after they landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in India.

A Nigerian man, identified as Kingsley, and two women from Uganda have been arrested with nine kilograms of narcotics in India. The country’s  Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted the smuggling network, according to a report by Outlook.

The women, Jascent Nakalungi and Sharifah Namaganda said to be cousins, were intercepted by the Delhi unit of the central probe agency on January 28 after they landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in India.

According to the NCB, the two women had a medical visa for the treatment of Namaganda.

The duo was apprehended based on the agency’s inputs following a drugs case detected in December wherein over five kg of heroin was seized and two Indians were arrested.

NCB deputy director (operations) K P S Malhotra said, “A total of 8kg of heroin and one kg of cocaine has been seized from the women. The drugs were hidden in their luggage bags that were handed to them in Uganda.”

Kingsley was also arrested after the women’s leads were followed, Malhotra said.

“The case reflects the standard route employed for trafficking of cocaine, which is manufactured illegally in South American countries.

‘The seizure of heroin from this network points towards the reverse route of heroin trafficking. The intensive measures by border guarding forces, both at the northwest frontier and the high seas, have compelled drug traffickers to divert their loads towards Africa’s horn, which is Mozambique.

“Heroin concealed in various shipments then reaches other parts of Africa, where the organised syndicates arrange the carriers.

“Subsequently, human couriers transport the drugs to India by adopting various ways like hiding the narcotics in the body cavity and by concealing in baggage among other methods, ” Malhotra noted.
