Another Mexican journalist killed in less than a week

A few days after a photojournalist, Margarito Martinez, was found fatally shot outside his home in Tijuana in the Mexican border city, another journalist, Lourdes Maldonado Lopez, has been found murdered in the same Tijuana.

Lopez was attacked on Monday “with a firearm while she was in a vehicle” in the city which borders the United States, according to the prosecutor’s office of the state of Baja California.

“The killing comes less than a week after photojournalist Margarito Martinez was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head near his home in Tijuana,” the report added.

Lopez, who had worked for several media outlets, had two years ago, asked Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador for “support, help and justice” as she feared for her life after receiving death threats from unknown people believed to be involved in organized crimes.

In a video she posted, Lopez appeared to be referring to an ongoing lawsuit against her former employer, news organisation Primer Sistema de Noticias, which is owned by a former Baja California governor.

The lawsuit which alleged unfair dismissal was to be ruled upon days before her killing.

A local media rights organisation said Lopez had previously been registered in a government protection programme for journalists, which included some police surveillance of her home.

Media rights watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RWB) regularly ranks Mexico as one of the deadliest countries in the world for reporters, alongside Afghanistan and Yemen.

RWB, in a report in late December, had noted that from 2000 to 2021, 145 journalists were killed in Mexico, with seven murdered in 2021.

Lawyer who sued celebrities for supporting EndSARS has been killed in Anambra

Human rights activist and lawyer, Kenechukwu Okeke has reportedly been murdered in Anambra state.

His family made the disclosure to Daily Post on Thursday, stating that Okeke was allegedly macheted by his attackers numbering seven in his compound and a keg of fuel poured on him before he was lit up and left to burn to death.

The controversial activist had filed criminal complaints before a magistrate court in Abuja against 50 persons over their alleged involvement in #EndSARS protests last year.

Some of the persons listed in the suit include Nigerian football star, Kanu Nwankwo, musicians’ Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, Innocent Idibia aka Tubaba, and David Adeleke better known as Davido.

Daily Post reports that Okeke was killed in Nkpor, near Onitsha, Anambra State, in the presence of his wife, Mrs Blessing Odinakachi Okeke and his little daughter.

Okeke’s wife was quoted as saying; “Kenechukwu Okeke was killed by his tenant.

”The Tenant, Chiadiobi, was living in our house, but when he packed out without our knowledge and asked to be given two months of his rent that he left, we told him he should have notified us that he was packing out.

“My husband was not around the day he came but I told him he packed out of the house without our knowledge and should not be given back any money. He threatened to deal with us, saying he will teach my husband a lesson. I called my husband and told him what the boy said and that he should not come to confront him, since they say he is a bad boy.

My husband later reported the matter to the DSS and to the police, and he was made to write an undertaking, but he was still coming to terrorize us. Sometimes he will come to our house and break open the gate and come in and pick whatever he wants to pick.

“One day, he came to our house and my husband confronted him, without knowing that he had many boys with him downstairs, and before my husband could do anything, they macheted him, and the fuel we wanted to pour into our gen, they poured it on him and lit him up, and that was how my husband died.

“That day was Sunday and not everyone was around, and the few people around tried to quench the fire and also stop it from burning our house, and later we took him to hospital in Enugu, and that was how he died.”

Mrs Okeke lamented that since after her husband’s death in October, the family has been left alone with the burden of catering for his burial, just as no mention or quest by any organisation to take up his matter has been heard of.

She said what was more heart-rending was that her husband’s killer; Chiadiobi, is still in the neighbourhood, bragging about having dealt with Okeke, while also confronting her husband’s aged mum.

“He even recently confronted my husband’s mother, warning her that he heard that she is taking the matter up, and was warning her to be careful. The boy is still free, going around and without remorse, and we are just left alone to do the arrangements of the burial.

“Up till now, he has not been arrested, even though we took him to police and DSS, and he was made to write an undertaking that he will not disturb us again, but he has finally killed him. I’m not even understanding the police on this matter. I’m confused. The boy is behaving like he is untouchable, and everyone is saying that he is a bad boy and we should be careful. We live in Nkpor, near Onitsha, Tarzan junction.”

Spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenganyia, when contacted by Daily Post, said that the police is aware of the matter.

It is a reported case, but for now I can tell you that the matter is still sketchy. Just give me some time, I will get back to you with the full details of the matter,” he said.

Dreaded ISWAP leader, Al-Barnawi, reportedly killed

The once dreaded leader of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) Abu Musab Al-Barnawi, has been reportedly killed in a gun battle with security forces in Borno State, multiple reports say.

The terrorist warlord was allegedly killed in the last week of August, shortly after former boss and erstwhile leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, was killed by the ISWAP group.

Al-Barnawi, who was placed on the most wanted list of terrorists by the Nigerian Army and some international anti-terrorism agencies, was the son of the late Boko Haram founder, Mohammed Yusuf, who was also killed by security forces in 2009 when he launched a war against the Nigerian state.

After his father’s death, Al-Barnawi became the group’s leader but soon fell out with Shekau and in 2016, the Islamic State (IS) militant group announced Al-Barnawi as the leader of its West African affiliate, Boko Haram, which was hitherto led by Shekau.

Al-Barnawi then became a vicious terrorist, leading sustained attacks on military facilities and troops in the Lake Chad region, while at the same time strategising on how to subdue Shekau.

It was reported at various times that ISIS partly chose Al-Barnawi as leader in the Lake Chad region in order to punish Shekau who reportedly “violated all known norms” and to also retain the confidence of Boko Haram fighters who were loyal to his father, Yusuf, amid threats from other factional groups.

Al-Barnawi was also said to have been trained by ISIS for years ahead of his ascension to power.

He controlled large chunks of territory in Northern Borno, imposed taxes on the local population and earned serious income from fishing, asides from the financial and material support he got from ISIS.

Al-Barnawi’s fighters had also destroyed many military super camps in Dikwa, Monguno, Abadam and Marte in Borno, and other military facilities around Geidam in Yobe State.

During his reign of terror, Al-Barnawi established many cells on the Lake Chad islands and surrounding villages from where his fighters launched attacks on Nigeria, Niger and Chad.

There are, however, two versions of the story of Al-Barnawi’s death, with one saying he was killed by Nigerian troops and the other version saying he died during a rival war within the ISWAP camp.

The first version has it that security operatives in the theatre of operation killed him alongside five top ISWAP leaders and many foot terrorists in an ambush around Bula Yobe, a community near the Borno/Yobe states border along Mobbar and Abadam axis that leads to the Lake Chad area.

The second version say he was killed in a leadership tussle between his group and another faction of terrorists from Central Africa that wanted to overthrow.

The military high command in Nigeria, has, however, neither confirmed nor denied the killing of Al-Barnawi because of the sensitivity of the issues involved.

The Director, Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Benjamin Sawyer, was also not forthcoming when asked to either confirm or deny the story.

“If there is a problem in their (Boko Haram) camp, how will I know? We normally have a fortnightly brief on operations.

“If ISWAP or BHTs are fighting among themselves, it is the media that always gives the entire nation the information. It is not us, because we are not in their camps,” he was quoted as saying.

Nine family members, including children, killed in US drone attack in Kabul

Nine members of the same family, including six children, have been confirmed killed in a US drone attack targeting the ISIL-affiliated State in Khorasan Province (IS-K), members in Kabul on Sunday.

According to Red Cross official who has been helping injured civilians in the war-torn Afghanistan, the US drone attack destroyed a car laden with explosives near the international airport in Kabul.

The United States’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said it was aware of “reports of civilian casualties” following the drone attack, which it said hit “multiple suicide bombers” who were preparing to attack the ongoing evacuations at the Kabul airport.

The Command added that it was still “assessing the results of the attack, which we know disrupted an imminent ISIS-K threat to the airport.”

Sunday’s attack was the second by US forces in Afghanistan since the Kabul Airport bombings last week where over 175 people, including 13 US troops, lost their lives.

The IS-K had claimed responsibility for the attack, leading to President Joe Biden vowing to hunt down the assailants and taking them out.

A senior US official said Sunday’s attack came after “individuals were seen loading explosives into the boot of a vehicle parked in a residential compound near Kabul airport.”

The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said two IS-K members who were targeted were killed in the drone attack.

(Video) Ghanaian cleric, Bishop Owusu claims TB Joshua was killed

A popular Ghanaian cleric, Bishop Samuel Owusu, has thrown another dimension into the death of Nigerian televelangelist and founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Prophet TB Joshua, who died on June 5.

Bishop Owusu, the General Overseer of the Pottersville Church International, located in East Legon Hills, Accra, said due to Joshua’s popularity and growing influence in world politics, some unnamed people conspired and killed him.

In a three minutes video released on Monday, Owusu revealed that he knew those who conspired to kill Joshua but insisted the time was not right for him to reveal them yet, as he was keeping it for a later time.

“Prophet TB Joshua was killed. Hear me now, I repeat TB Joshua was killed.
“He did not die a natural death. The facts are there for all discerning minds to see. Let me me give you some instances,” Bishop Owusu began.

Continuing, he said:

“There is no black man of God in the whole world whose followers are more than the population of a country.

“The followers of TB Joshua… there is no president in the world that has more followers than TB Joshua.

In the whole world, there is no single man that presidents submit to. It has never happened. There is no man of God, black or white, that presidents will leave their countries, leave their presidencies and come to their church.

In the history of the whole world, there is no black man who was as popular as compared to TB Joshua. He was more popular than TD Jakes. He was more accepted than Kenneth Hegan; popular and accepted than David Oyedepo. Popular and accepted by nations, by the history of mankind.

There is no black from Africa who has lands and properties in Israel, who has school and landed properties in the Philippines. TB Joshua didn’t die. They calculated his death.

“TB Joshua was the highest paid individual in the whole world by YouTube. There is no single individual who was paid higher than TB Joshua because of people followed and watched his videos.

“TB Joshua was killed. He has finished his work. I have the details on how he was killed. But I will not share that one now. I know how they planned it and even the person they sent. What they used to kill him, I know
“The person they sent, I saw. But I will not reveal that yet.”

Amotekun commander killed, as unknown gunmen in military fatigues attack Igangan

The town of Igangan was in chaos on Friday, as unknown gunmen masked in military fatigues attacked the ancient town, killing four residents.

Ripples Nigeria gathered that the attack was repelled by a coalition of local security operatives and operatives of the Amotekun corps which resulted in the loss of the life of a commander named Muri.

According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen besieged the town in two Hilux vans, an 18-seater Hummer bus, and a Toyota Sienna bus wearing military and customs camouflage uniforms.

The convener, Igangan development advocate, Oladiran Oladokun confirmed the attack saying the incident was an attempt to invade the state through the axis, a border community but was resisted by the local security operatives.

Oladokun said although, the suspected herders came in customs and military camouflage to deceive the people and change the narrative that it was security operatives who stormed the town in search of those who engage in smuggling activities, a practice that is alien to the people of the community.

He expressed disappointment over inadequate security despite the recurrence of the attacks.

An Amotekun operative who spoke anonymously said the quick intervention of the local security operatives forced the assailants to retreat, but not without killing some residents as they escaped through Abeokuta axis.

20 killed, 600 injured as multiple explosions hit Equatorial Guinea military camp

Not less than 20 people have been killed while 600 were injured after four powerful blasts hit the Nkoa Ntoma military camp in the economic capital Bata in Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, the state television reported.

The TVGE channel broadcast footage of wrecked and burning buildings, with people, including children, being pulled from the rubble and the wounded lying on a hospital floor.

The first blast reportedly occurred in the early afternoon and in the early evening with the TVGE referring to heavy “casualties” but said it had not determined whether there were any fatalities.

We heard the explosions and we saw the smoke, but we don’t know what’s going on,” one local resident, Teodoro Nguema, said on television.

The camp houses, among others, elements of the army’s special forces and the paramilitary gendarmerie, a journalist said.

Bata is the largest city in the oil and gas-rich nation, with around 800,000 of the nation’s 1.4 million population living there, most of them in poverty.

While it sits on the mainland, the capital Malabo is on Bioko, one of the country’s islands off the West African coast.

Equatorial Guinea has been ruled by 78-year-old President Teodoro Obiang Nguema for nearly 42 years while his son, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, described as jet-setter, the vice president with responsibility for defense and security, often appearing on television accompanied by his Israeli bodyguards.

In December last year, the UN’s top court found in favor of France in a bitter battle over a swanky Paris property seized in a corruption probe into Teodorin.

Opposition figures and international organizations regularly accuse Obiang of committing human rights abuses.

The authoritarian leader has seen off at least half a dozen assassinations or coup attempts to become Africa’s longest-serving leader.

Female Police Officer Killed Her Baby & Her Baby Daddy Then Shot Herself

Some people can’t control their anger in this life at all. Small thing will just fume them up to do stupid things without thinking twice about their actions. It is a very bad thing to allow your anger to take over you. Anger spoils things, it destroys things, it is very dangerous, please don’t allow your anger take over you.

It’s been reported that a 28 years old police officer from South Africa has shot her little baby to death including her baby daddy. According to reports, it was said that the female police officer came back from work and shot her baby and her baby daddy because of an argument they had about another woman.

It was reported that the other woman that’s causing the palava was at the scene when the incident happened. It was not reported what the woman actually did or whether the young man was dating her or not. It was the woman that ran to call the police when the incident happened.

The lady also shot herself to death after shooting both child and his father to death almost at the same time. Things dey happen sha, like, share and follow me up.

Video: “We Have Robbed Four Times And Killed Two People” – Child Robber Who Was Arrested Confesses

Terrible things have really been happening and it’s so unfortunate that many children have been dragged into such kind of bad things happening in the society. When a child is seen doing wrong and his excesses are not curbed early enough by his parents or guardian, it becomes difficult stopping such children when they get into their teenage years.

I remember back in the days growing up and was still in primary school, how whenever I take my pencils to school, I don’t return home with them because some of my classmates, steals them either during break hours or while I’m taking a nap, whenever I realize this I usually cry but no one would speak up as to who took the pencils, until one day I caught this very boy and that was how it ended, because I reported him to our class teacher, he was disciplined and that ended my pencils from missing.

Some parents are the reason some of their children turn out in life, the way they did because while they are stealing and bringing it home, they kept encouraging by helping them to hide all that they bring to the house.

In a trending video I came across today February 13,2021 that struck me and broke my heart is that of a small boy, who was caught with pistol stolen from the Nigerian Police Force, during the End SARS peaceful protesters that was hijacked by the hoodlums, to cause mayhem in the country. The boy if closely looked at, is not more than 10 or at maximum 12years of age.

He claimed his brother was the one who taught him how to shoot the pistol and he has joined his brother who is now at large with his gang members to rob people of their belongings and so far from the time he joined them, they have killed two people. He looked like one who has been introduced to weed smoking, judging from his looks and lips that looks so much like that of a chain smoker.

He claimed that it was during the End SARS protest at Oba market in Benin-City, Edo State that they stole the guns from the police station they set ablaze. He said whenever they rob their victims of their money, they go to Ted located at somewhere called Cartel in Benin-City to share the money. This boy’s case to me, is case of a boy from a dysfunctional home.

14 feared killed, 170 others missing in India after Himalayan glacier bursts

Tragedy struck in India after a chunk of glacier broke off in the Himalayas and unleashed a devastating flash flood which claimed fourteen lives and left one hundred and seventy others missing.

Rescue officials say after a part of a Himalayan glacier broke away; it set off a torrent of water, rock and dust down a mountain valley, rendering many residents around the area homeless.

“A total of 15 people have been rescued and 14 bodies have been recovered from different places so far,” the state government of Uttarakhand, in the country’s north, said on Twitter on Monday.

Sunday’s violent surge swept away a small hydroelectric project called Rishiganga and damaged a bigger one further downstream. “There was a cloud of dust as the water went by. The ground shook like an earthquake,” said a resident Om Agarwal.

Reports say rescue officials who resumed early on Monday are having a tough time searching for possible survivors at the site as hundreds of military personnel were also deployed.

“There are a lot of questions being asked about why hydroelectric power plants were being built in such ecologically sensitive areas,” Al Jazeera’s Elizabeth Puranam said.

Girls Who Hired Assassins To Kill Their Parent Have Been Sentenced To Death

The court has finally dished out a trial and a verdict over the case of two wicked girls who sent assassins to kill their parent as a result of a few flimsy excuses they gave which stemmed from their need for money.

This heinous crime took Nigeria by a storm and hasn’t died down as many people haven’t backed down in showing their disgust and urgent need for justice.

These two girls who are from Enugu (names withheld) reportedly sent assassins to kidnap and murder the two people who brought them into this world – their parent.

They had the intention of inheriting their parent’s property after their evil plan was successfully executed.

Reportedly, the girls were arrested by Enugu State Police after they were reported by their relatives who suspected that they were behind the death of their parent.

After a series of investigations by the police and after all evidences pointed to them, the girls confessed by sending assassins to kill their parent all in a bid to inherit their wealth.

During questioning, one of the girls stated her reason for having to hire assassins to kill her biological parent, stating that her father is a very wealthy man who only spent money on women outside and never made a move to buy them new clothes.

She also went further to say that her father is a very stingy man and that was the main reason for hiring assassins to kill him.

The High court in Enugu state convened to hear the case of the two girls who were labelled to have murdered their father, thereby denying him is right to life as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.

Having found them guilty, the presiding judge sentenced them to death by the gallows.

We are presently waiting for the state governor to sign the death warrant.

This should serve as an eye opener to selfish and impatient youths out there who are always looking for ways to make fast and illegal wealth.

Patience and perseverance won’t take anything out of you, just believe that God would always reward you for your efforts.
