Grammy-winning British singer, Ed Sheeran has been featured on the remix of Nigerian singer, Fireboy DML’s hit single, Peru.
Sheeran made this known while speaking with music legend, Elton John on Rocket Hour on Apple Music 1.
The Shape of You hitmaker was invited to discuss the release of the pair’s brand-new Christmas single, ‘Merry Christmas’ and how they first decided to collaborate on a festive track.
Speaking on how he got to work with Fireboy, Sheeran said that a friend reached out to him to record a verse on the song.
“So I got sent this a week ago, to remix it. Someone, a friend of mine, Jamal [Edwards] who runs SBTV sent it to me.
“He said, “Fireboy DML would love you on the remix of this song.” And I’ve just found it really intriguing. So I recorded a verse for it… and it’s a song that’s blowing up in Nigeria and Ghana at the moment and their club scene runs over Christmas.
“So you basically put a song to the club in the middle of December, which would seem a weird thing to do in England. But yeah, so I’ve done the remix for this song, but this is the original and it’s just, it’s an earworm, and it’s addictive, and I’m obsessed with it. I mean, Cherry will tell you, I’ve had this song on repeat constantly in the house for the last week,” he said.
Nigerian singers and longtime friends, Fireboy DML and Cheque have recreated a photo from back in the days when they were still struggling.
Cheque shared the photo via his Twitter page as part of a promotional for an upcoming song with Fireboy which is inspired by their true life story.
The track is titled HISTORY and it will be released April 8, 2021.
According to the Zoom singer, they started from the ‘lowest of the lows’ but now they are making it.
In the photos he shared, they took the same pose of him (Cheque lying on the floor, while Fireboy stays behind him with his arms spread out like the wings of an airplane.
The throwback picture was in black and white while the other was more of an upgraded version with colour.
Sharing the images, Cheque wrote;
”Started from the lowest of the lows New music “History” x @fireboydml out on April 8!!!”
Nigerian artiste, Adedamola Adefolahan popularly known as Fireboy DML, has said that he is working hard to earn the right to be called a legend.
He stated that he is not like many musicians who take the entertainment scene by storm and strive to be the number one.
According to the Vibration crooner, there are so many legends, and he is not making attempts to be the first, rather he just wants to be regarded as one of the legends.
