Judge on wheelchair accepted bribes to compromise election petition in new Falz video

Popular rapper, Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana, has released the video of his new single titled ‘Mr Yakubu’ in which he featured Olanrewaju Ogunmefun popularly known as Vector.

The song mirrored a Peoples Gazette exclusive which exposed plans of a secret meeting between President-elect Bola Tinubu and Chief Justice Kayode Ariwoola in London.

Messrs Ariwoola and Tinubu had planned their trips a week apart and had the Supreme Court’s head disguise as a physically challenged man to facilitate the meeting without arousing suspicion from the public.

As characters deliberate over the conduct of the elections in the video, the judge adjudicating election matters was wheeled in into the scene on a wheelchair accurately depicting the pictures of Mr Ariwoola’s London sighting which has now flooded the internet.

Mr Ogunmefun, popularly known as Vector, said that Mr Ariwoola would go down in history as the judge in whose hands the law died, highlighting the judge’s untoward relationship with politicians.

“Who killed the law, who will people ask,” Vector asked rhetorically as the camera pointed towards the judge.Highlighting the possible financial inducements of judicial officers, Falz said the judge had been bribed to maintain Mr Tinubu’s widely disputed electoral victory.

“Thank you my lord, I respect you my lord… since he has paid, you have hurriedly written it [the judgement] and you said he has been elected, they should bring the crown,” he said.

The song also drove home the perceived role of Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the elections.

Mr Yakubu and his commission continue to face fierce public disapproval over the announced results of the election. Several candidates have accused the electoral chairman of conniving with the ruling party and the president-elect to subvert the will of the public by all means, including internal sabotage.

‘Mr Yakubu’ also criticised the poor conduct of the election in which there was a massive failure of the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the suspicious downtime of the electoral commission’s server, thwarting the stipulated rule of uploading results from various polling units to increase transparency.

‘Mr Yakubu’ posits that the election did not reflect the N305 billion – Nigeria’s highest election budget in modern times – that was spent on the exercise.

“Mr Yakubu don’t behave like a fraudster… the 300 billion you collected from the government, what did you do with it?” the song rhetorically asked in its lyrics.

“You wrote fake figures, the portal shut down, and you’re lying to us that somebody hacked it… Mr Yakubu don’t be a fraudster,” it added. Vector criticised the ruling party’s claim that the election was free and fair.

According to him, the impropriety was obvious beyond what anyone could deny. The song also highlighted several factors that were at play during the election season including violence and improper religious, tribal and ethnic divisions which were employed by politicians to secure their bases.

Rapper Falz releases fifth studio album, BAHD

Nigerian rapper, songwriter, and actor Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz the Bahd Guy, has released his fifth studio album titled BAHD, in the wee hours of Thursday.

The new album, released under his self-owned record label, Bahd Guys Entertainment, comprises 12 tracks and features Nigerian stars like Tiwa Savage, The Cavemen, BNXN, LAX, Chike, and new Mavin Records signee BoySpyce.

BAHD comes three years after Falz’s last studio album, Moral Instruction, in which the 31-year-old heavily sampled the late Afrobeat icon, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and dealt extensively with socio-political themes including government corruption, religious hypocrisy and terrorism, and failing moral standards on the part of Nigerians.

His new album departs from that political tone, settling instead for the comic and light-hearted themes for which the rapper first came to be known.

Falz has since grown a reputation as a musician with a political streak since he, alongside colleague Runtown, led the first round of protests in Lagos State during the EndSARS campaign of October 2020.

Last Saturday, the rapper announced that he will be hosting a music concert on June 11 at the Tafawa Balewa Square, adding that only those with Permanent Voter Cards or temporary voter slips will be allowed entry.

Falz reacts as Lagos #EndSARS Panel reports Lekki toll gate incident as massacre

Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana professionally known as Falz has reacted to the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry reports on the Lekki massacre which indicted the Nigerian Army and police.

The panel reported the Lekki Toll gate shooting of October 20, 2020 as a massacre indicting soldiers and implicated Nigeria’s security agents in the killing and forced disappearances of harmless and unarmed youths protesting at Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020.

The Justice Doris Okuwobi-led panel made the revelation in a 309-page report submitted to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Monday.

Page 294 of the report read: “The atrocious maiming and killing of unarmed, helpless and unresisting protesters, while sitting on the floor and waving their Nigerian flags, while singing the National Anthem can be equated to a ‘massacre’ in context.”

Reacting to the development, Falz, took to his Instagram story and called out government, describing those who claimed the incident never occurred as animals who made the youth doubt their sanity about the Lekki Massacre.

Falz added that the Lagos #EndSars had compiled their report, and everything is now more transparent.

“All these recommendations must be implemented. the leader these innocent souls deserve is justice.”

Other celebrities like Mr Macaroni, Timi Dakolo and Toolz have taken to their social media pages expressing their opinions following the panel report.

@Mr Macaroni said; The same panel that the government set up has presented their findings. Except you people don’t have faith in your own Judicial system. Since last year, we have seen numerous gaslighting and lies! The truth always prevails and that truth is the #EndSARS Movement.

@Timi Dakolo; Now that the Panel is done with their findings and has declared it a massacre, what next? WHAT NEXT?!

@Toolz; I honestly was expecting a different outcome from the #LekkiMassacre judicial panel, but glad the truth prevailed.

@Kate Henshaw; There was a LIVE recording of the incident but they legit tried to make it seem like we were mad! Who dey mad now?

Singer Falz advocates justice for victims of #EndSARS protest

Nigerian recording artiste and activist, Folarin Falana, better known as Falz has taken to his Instagram page to advocate for justice for the victims of the Lekki Tollgate shootout during the #EndSARS protest in October 2020.

Falz who was among the outspoken celebrities during the heat of the #EndSARS protest in 2020 stated that the Nigerian government has failed to punish the perpetrators of the shootout since the incident happened one year ago.

Speaking further via an Instagram post on Friday, October 15, the singer also reacted to the decision of the state Commissioner of Police barring interested persons from staging any #EndSARS remembrance protest.

Falz mentioned in his post that innocent people were killed just because they were asking “not to be killed or brutalized”.

Here is what the rapper published on his Instagram page;

”20:10:20 [update]

They killed innocent souls that were simply asking not to be killed or brutalized.

A year later, no one has been punished yet for those heinous crimes.

A supposed Police Commissioner “warned” against citizens exercising their fundamental human rights. Yes, a Police Commissioner.

A couple of well meaning citizens decided to put together a summit to reflect on last year’s events & honour the lost souls. Event centre pulls out (“instructions from above”)

As I type this, there is already HEAVY police presence at the Lekki toll gate.

Best thing they could come up with is organizing “concerts” to try and distract us from remembering the real heroes in all of this. The people they murdered.

What we will never do, however, is be quiet.

We will NEVER EVER EVER EVER be silenced.

Not today, not on the 20th, not ever.”
